Just flashed my Bell MB860 to CM10 following an instruction guide I found on AndroidAuthority. It works great, I'm very happy to have Android 4 on a network that isn't going to support it.
But I can't mount my SD card anymore. I go to settings->storage-> and click mount SD card, and my notification bar first says "preparing SD card for use...", then it says "your SD card is now ready to safely remove". It unmounts it as fast as it can mount it. What the heck is going on here?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Nevermind, fixed it. I had to reformat my SD card. Not sure how or why, but at some point in the ROM flashing process, it's partition table got corrupted. When I plugged the card into my computer, it was able to read the card's MFT and display the files, but it couldn't tell how much free space was available, it just said 0 bytes. Formatting appears to have fixed that problem. Good thing I backed it up before flashing.
Very weird.

After the gingerbread update, the phone will not see that any sd card is installed (it did prior to the update). I've tried 2 different cards, mess with connection, press down the metal housing. Need some help please, thanks.

Have you tried Settings > Storage > Mount SD Card?

does your computer recognizes it?
Well, the mount sd card is grey'd out, not selectable. Both cards can be accessed by the computer.
After 2.3.4 Update - SD Card Problem
Same here,
Had 2.2.2 and flashed the official 2.3.4 sbf and memory card is not recognized now.
Tried different cards as well and nothing. Mount and Format are grayed out.
Flashed it with SD and Sim out... If that might make a difference.
Maybe I should try flashing with the sd in?
Any suggestions?
I figured it out
Connect the phone (Mass Storage) with the SD in via USB and check if 2 partitions are recognized on the PC 1st (internal) and 2nd (SD-not accessible).
While connected to the PC take the cover off atrix and remove SD and slide it back it, if it doesn't see it instantly try again. The phone should say that it has detected the card. You might have to format it if it's not FAT32
No need to flash it again.
Hope this helps
Cheers
This is what worked for me
I had the same issue, and could not find the fix anywhere. I tried every fix I found in any posts. But nothing worked. I could not format or mount my SD Card.
Then, I noticed the "internal sd storage" said "not available"...
... I thought hmmmmmm... so I formatted it.
And after that, I could format the External SD Card and mount it...
Hope this helps somebody else.
Apparently, if it fails to mount the internal storage, it will fail to mount the external as well...
Cheers!
I've looked at the other threads on this but, none seem to match my problem.
I've a 16 GB MicroSD card in my S2. S2 is not-rooted running stock ROM.
This card used to mount ok. It no longer will.
In Settings->Storage, space reported is unavailable (because it's not mounted).
I can run Format SD Card option which returns quickly.
Running Mount SD Card, it's says Mount in Progress but it never completes.
If I put the card into an SD card reader, it looks fine. FAT32 formatted card, with approx 16GB available.
Any ideas?

I had similar problems with two other sd cards.
First running without any problem, and then suddenly the message appeared that the sd card is empty or not connected.
In both cases, the sd card was broken.
But in my cases, the sd card could not be used in a USB adapter by PC either.
As the sd cards were nearly new, I could make a warranty replacement and now I have got a card which works fine for about two months.
You can check this, by switching the sd card into another phone.
And use another sd card in your phone.
If the other card will work in your phone and your sd card will have issues in the other phone too, replace the broken sd card.
Good luck !
P.S.: You should format the sd card with your phone and not by your PC.
Other MicroSD Card works

Thanks for the response. I should have said that another 4GB card worked in the phone ok. This did lead me to think it was a card problem. However, he fact it works via a PC indicates otherwise.
Will try it in another phone.
Just throw it away?
Has anyone seen this before i.e. not working in phone but ok in SD reader?
If so, did you manage to resurrect it? Or is it time to throw it out?

Try this. Settings>Application>Development
Check usb debugging.
Connect phone to pc. In notification bar click "usb connected" message, and click on "connect usb storage" button. You won't see the sd card mounted in pc!
Now disconnect phone, reboot. It might mount
See if there's any luck.
Since you're not rooted, solutions are quite limited in numbers

Tried disconnecting and rebooting in 2 senses of the word
1. Hitting the disconnect usb storage button on screen
2. unplugging the usb cable.
Unfortunately, neither worked.
i'm having this problem now both on internal and external sdcard... it wont even mount on recovery... i'll try see if i can this done.. Windows damages everything.. i made a cleanup of the sdcard and a format..
I have a small 4gb microSD card that i had from my old phone and have been using it on the Atrix. I want to get a bigger one but seeing as I have this one now I wanted to format it and use it for backups, etc. It's been working find in my Atrix until just now. I formatted it using the Settings -> Storage -> Format SD card option. Now it will no longer mount properly. I have rebooted the phone a few times, removed the SD card and reinserted it, etc. It recognizes the card and says "Preparing SD card. Checking for errors." in the notification area. But it never completes that and mounts it.
Just now it said "Damaged SD card. SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." So i tried again to reformat using the phone, and it still will not correctly mount. I'll try some more things, but wondering if anyone else has had this happen or knows of a solution. Thank you.
Problem solved myself. lol. I placed the card in my laptop and saw it was a mess of garbage files. Weird. So I formatted it on windows, then put it back in my Atrix, and all is well. heh.
[Q] Can't mount external sd (Rootbox ICS)
I've been using RootBox ICS 1.8 with V6 and pdroid patch (made by autopatcher 2.1.5) for a while now, everything was fine until yesterday my phone was auto powered off a few times after the battery ran out.
I can't mount the external SD card now, it's recognised by the phone and I have the option to choose "Mount SD card", but it's not actually mounting the card. When I tap it, "Preparing SD Card...." will flash for a second, then disappear without actually mounting.
CWM is unable to mount the sd card either. Taking the battery and sd card out also doesn't make any difference.
What should I do? Will reflashing the rom help, or does it sound like a hardware problem?
It did happened to me and I think the yung mmc is messed up. Have you tried using it on other phones?
UPDATE:
Okay... it seems the sd card is busted. Windows can only detect 30MB from it (it's a 32GB card). Is there anything I can do before asking the shop for warranty?

Hmm... partition wizard just shows me 30.6MB no matter what I do. I guess it's time to find out whether that 5 year warranty will hold...
After pouring hours into it, I finally managed to install Link2SD and it does link apps to SD correctly.
However, I no longer see either of the SD card partitions under settings > storage? As I understand, Link2SD just uses the 2nd partition, but if it also hides my first one making it pretty much useless?
I do see all partitions under "Storage Info" from the Link2SD app itself, but not from System Settings > Storage.
For example: even after Linking "Whatsapp" to SD card, I still see it on Internal Storage and I have tons of Media so its about to get full anyway like before. I don't understand the use? Or am I doing it wrong?
Ur doing something wrong. The first 'storage' partition of th sd card should still be accesible.
Which format did you give to the 1st and 2nd partitions? Probably the 1st partitions' format is messed up.
I knew it.
First was FAT32 I just resized it and used the remaining space for ext3. My phone is xperia L
Ok I tried every darn thing...formatted the card like 100 times.
Tried every combination Ext2, 3 and 4 but no matter what. If the SD card has partitions, the phone doesn't recognize the sdcard at all, shows "Blank SD Card" if I try to mount it.
Please help

Do everything you did the 1st time, partitions and stuff. Install this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.universal.init.d turn it on and then reboot. Now link apps to SD and then reboot to see if its working properly

Can you read it in a pc, with a card reader? It should allow you to read the contents in the primary partition (should be FAT32), unless ur using linux so you can read both. Just to make sure where the problem is: the formatted sdcard or the phone.
If it shows empty on the pc, try copying files to it to see if there isn't a read/write issue with the card.
If it shows ok on the pc... then its the phone and i won't be of much help, sorry.
