Hi everyone,
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S III, amazing phone, but I fear I had a problem, on the first start, during the setup wizard, I skipped a passage and I wasn't unable to go back and see what was, so I (stupidly) made a factory reset to redo the setup wizard, more slowly, but I had two problems then: Play Store process force closed while updating apps, and Facebook widget doesn't work fine sometimes, it doesn't load posts and cannot open app from the widget, it's such as blocked. So I fear that factory reset was a stupid move, and could have caused this two problems, or it doesn't matter and those problems are indipendent of the reset? I have to say that I haven't got other problems and other apps/components seem to work very well and when I reopened the Play Store no more problems until now, maybe was the system updating the play store and closed it? Sorry but I am really nervous, I love that phone and don't want problems
Factory reset won't cause problem, other than losing data/settings.
Factory Reset = restore phone to out of the box in your case .

Yeah I know, but I did it in the recovery xD and I worried about it, (I was usual with my old SGS to do it in the recovery when installing a custom ROM)
Thank you for the answer, I needed a conferm, and of course, a relief.
You can reload the rom using kies or you can update to jellybean. This should fix your issue.

so where is the problem and is there is asolution to avoid formating my phone it annoying me
thnx
Well technically that it not by far bricking but unless you don't have a hardware problem it's relatively easy to fix. It may not be enough just to do a factory reset, you more than likely would be well served flashing the ROM you are running to freshen your install.... NO, I'm not gonna spoon feed the info to you, that's what the search function is for

i am having the exact problem with 360 rom after rooting and installing an apk file i have a ramdom never finish install and after shutting down and rebooting it ahngs at the dell logo after the splash screen and i have to do a factory reset. what rom are you using and what program to install the apk files
It is due to invalid certificates in the apk you installed, if you are going to install an apk from an unknown source, it may pay to do a nandroid backup before you attempt the install, that will save you hours of reflashing/factory reset and then downloading and installing all your market apps, etc etc etc....
Hello Everyone.
Im having a bit of a problem. Im running the unoffifial beta 2v4 the latest one by flapjaxx. The rom to me in my opinion was running fine until i downloaded all the inverted app for this rom throu the update tools function. I was pretty happy with my choice of rom i loved it. The problem began when my phone started to jam up when looking at my inverted contacts menu, the phone would give me a quick hiptic vibrate and then restart my apex launcher..So long sory short I factory reset the phone and now i can get into the settings menu. Phone states App not installed. i wiped the cach clean and did 3 factory resets btw and It still wont let me into the Settings..The phone now says settings is blocked for security reasons.. what the heck did I do wrong

you can try titanium backup..see if settings is in there and restore it(at your own risk, but its worth a shot), OR start from scratch and re-flash ROM. (do a back up of course!!!
good luck!!!
I'll get a new text message & go to read it but then all the conversations have disappeared & I can't send or receive any new ones. Once I reboot the phone they all reappear. It happens 3 4 times a day. KIndly Help. I am using 4.1.2 XXEMA2 Official.

I'm having the same problem. Seems to be getting worse. Used to be about once a week, now almost daily. Doesn't matter what messaging app I use, happens with all of them, including stock. Very strange.
I still have this problem, any solutions yet?
same issue running stock unrooted phone.. started happening a week or so ago but now its multiple times a day. factory reset is not working.
Sounds like your DB files are getting corrupted and are rebuilt on reboot. Might need a full wipe and reflash of the roms your on

Any fix for this?
I think it has something to do with Play Store.
Every time I restart my phone after they disappear, play store has new updates available.
Had the same problem. Hard reset solved the problem. Vol up + home button + power button. Select factory reset. And voila.

I had the same issue and described solution that worked for me here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72283217&postcount=21 (root and adb required).

After the factory reset it said factory reset complete but when turned it back on, its back to the same issues. I tried reseting it s many times but nothing is working. Also if i delete these stuff from my computer and unconect it, nothing changes and when i connect it again, everything comes back magically.

Just like zaclimon said you may have to actually flash back to stock

Hi all,
Last night my phone started to randomly reboot itself, even in Safe Mode! It's now to the point where I can't even login -- I enter my pin, the 'Phone is starting' overlay shows for a while, and then it suddenly reboots. I haven't installed a new app for at least 2 weeks at this point, and the reboot was happening before I updated my apps. After updating, things seemed to get worse maybe?
Is there any way I can salvage my phone or do I have to hard factory reset via hardware buttons?
Its called bootloop. you need to flash your phone to fix this problem and flashing can fix all the software issues of your device.
I was afraid of that... Just a bit worrying that it happened randomly when running stock.
Ok, thanks!
I had same issue when ran android 9 in 2019, however, I fix this issue by doing a clean flash. Yes, you will lose everything, so make sure you do a backup via google.

If you didn't add an app or update that caused it either the boot load got corrupted or it's a hardware issue. The flash memory should not spontaneously get corrupted unless it's defective ie a hardware issue. However anything is possible... quantum physics.
More than likely it was a poorly written app or update that caused it. 3rd party launchers and power management apps are prime suspects. It may take a week or more to manifest its self as a boot loop. Any signs of system lagging or instability should be taken seriously as they are the only warnings you may get before a boot loop*.
A virus or rootkit** is another prime candidate.
Do a factory reset now. Be wary of which apps you load and avoid any updates until the system is know to be stable. Then add apps and updates one at a time. Updates many times aren't really needed.
Over a year ago I had 2 back to back boot loops on my Note 10+... yes, and 2 factory resets and full reloads.
The prime suspects were as I mentioned above. Neither one was reloaded after the 3red factory reset. A year latter that 3rd reload is still running fast and stable. Fun times
**if your Android version is 9 or above a factory reset will purge any virus or rootkit as long as you don't inadvertently reintroduce it. Be careful what apps you load and what you download.
If the Android version is 8 or below, they are suspectable to a nasty rootkit that requires a firmware reflash to purge. Pie and above are not.
1. For me, it was also itself rebooting, only while phone were in pocket / case. So do not use any of them (searched on reddit forum, was exactly same topic)
2. Maybe sim ejection tool is not correct be inside, don't often open and close it
