I recommend either use Equalizer with +2 -1 +1 +1 +2 on the equalizer. If you want really good sound however, visit RockoDev's thread with the Beats Audio drivers, and flash the 6.27 version to your phone. The sound is very good, I would not recommend to use an Equalizer with this driver, it's already optimized.

thans a lot...i'll try that
I normally use some combination of stock audio effects (under settings >sound), dsp manager (copy to system >apps, change permissions to rw-r--r--) and the equalizer built into play music app. I play my music as loud as possible at work.

Get a headphone amplifier that has eq options if you want good sound.

i use SK PRO Carbon... and i found best results using rock equalizer just changing the 10 KHz freq to 8 and 3 KHz freq to 7
I'd suggest looking at the output and the quality of the files you're playing back as well. Get a nice pair of headphones (audio technica, akg, beyerdynamics, sennheiser, etymotic) and a decent amp if you need it. Equalizers and other software effects can only take you so far in terms of improving quality.
Also look at the format/quality of your source. Try higher bitrate/lossless formats as they make a significant difference depending on the genre.
Personally i find the poweramp eq to be more than sufficient for my listening.

I installed BEATS audio yesterday, but still sound is far from ideal in comparison to my old Samsung Galaxy 3... I don't know... in Razor music (even FLAC) sounds to me like it's washed or like i am listening inside bucket. hehe...
A lot people says many good words about razor, but i am dissapointed personally with quality.
Headphones i use are Sennheiser hd202, mostly listening good quality compilations.
Does any one else feels the same or similar way as me?
p.s. I am using PowerAMP player
Try dsp manager....worka good on mine...

There are several types of sound effects in the stock firmware. Please review sound settings, perhaps several of them are enabled which distorts sound.

I have xt912 but sound is probably similar. I always hear hissing/static on every song.
Tried replacement phones, different headphones, to no avail.
Something in hardware or software is amiss.

This might be due to a physical damage to or lint in audio out jack, which is very common. Reviews didn't show anything particularly wrong with RAZR audio:

Same here. I tried one time and I saw also is no difference, I'm using player pro for a wile and I'm very happy with it. Bought a pair of good headpones, set bass on full in player settings and I don't need this kind of app. When I flashed new rom, all the times I remove from phone. For me is useless.

I didn't notice a difference either till I was in my sisters car and she commented on how much nicer my phone sounded that hers through aux. I didn't notice a difference in my car because I have subs and in car speaker performance isn't noticeable when you have subs blaring lol. We played a song in her car with my phone (same Google music app, equalizer turned off on both phones) then same song with her phone and mine was much cleaner and the bass hit a bit harder through her standard car speakers. It definitely made a difference. Eventually I put the same beats files on her phone and she loves it. She said before she couldn't turn it up too loud because it distorted her speakers. I believe it has more of an effect the louder you go and the quality of the speaker

But we have almost the same thing in settings - sound - media audio effects.
Or is it still better comparing with these? Or with equaliser in power amp for example?
I never tried it and don't believe it much.
Beats is overrated and just a name. Musicfx, dspmanager, and any other application equalizer does the exact same thing.

It is basically an background equalizer. And is nice for people who don't like messing with an equalizer or if my sister, who doesn't understand how an equalizer works. Its a good alternative and really only makes a difference at clearing the sound at high volumes. That's really its only benefit for an average user. Some market equalizers don't do this.
I also found a site once that deeply explain how the beats "driver" worked or compared and it was interesting. Not mind changing but it didn't explain how it is pretty much an equalizer but with a few built-in features only for beats. I'll look it up and post it.

I have the beats installed from the Rocco ROM i use. I also use win amp pro that has an eq so the sound quality is great.. I am sure with just the eq from the win amp it would sound great just the same.

is this Beats really makes any difference, or it's just like any equalizer?

I have been saying this for years now and no one listens. I use free "Equalizer" app from the Market, everyone loves it. And I have my $9.99 SkullCandy headphones and they are great!
Does anyone that flashed the beats audio know if the beats headphones with inline control work once flashed because i was looking at a set and didn't buy them because when i tried them the controls didnt work but when i plugged them into a phone with beats they worked.
What can I do to get the equivalent sound to Beats Audio in a CM Rom? I really want to stay on CM but I use my phone as mp3 player and the sound is just too low for me when using my headphones. Yes, I have cheap headphones but they sound really good when I'm using a Sense Rom with Beats Audio. I realize some will say it's just an EQ boost but I can't seem to replicate that in CM or find a replacement. I use Poweramp and I realize it has an EQ settings but doesn't seem to boost the audio enough for me. I like my music loud! LOL
You can try acid audio v7. Here's a detailed writeup regarding flashing and setup.

AC!D+Poweramp+Noozxoide=Pure Effin Win!!!!! Eff Beats in the A!!!
P.S. another tip that might help you volume wise is on Poweramp if you go to your EQ screen the setting all the way to the left is your Preamp level. You can try turning it up as much as needed until you reach the volume you're looking for(hopefully without distortion).
Viper4Android nothing else. Search for it here on xda.

Has anyone noticed a loss of sound quality after switching from stock to an AOSP ROM and kernel? I've tried a few equalizers as well, but can't get that deep, clear sound that I felt I was getting on stock (with Beats disabled). Was there some HTC magic hidden in the audio drivers, or am I just imagining it?
I'm using the same headphones, music player and files; it's not a huge difference, but I feel like there definitely is one.

On Infected 2.9.1 ROM/Kernel and it sounds better than earlier versions of AOSP. I do notice a difference between the HTC Music app sound quality and others like Apollo or Play Music, so there may be some magic, but I think its software.

Yeah there is a difference, I just try to make the best of it tweaking DSP Manager. There are some other sound options to play with also such as the Viper audio mod.

It can be a little finicky to get working and you have to re-install this after any rom updated/changes.
Guys, do you use any equalizer?
I've been installing some of them from Google market,
Yes all of them are working with Google player.
But seems none of them (those that I downloaded) is working with HTC native's(stock) audio player?
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
amazing, couple of weeks back seems this was not working with native music player.
It is working like a charm now.
I tick only the first line, using preset sound processing(equalizer), and left other line unticked.

What about viper doesnt work with htc music app? Installed on mine and seems to set up fine.
Sick of seeing htc bashing when there may be no reason...
once I finally root this thing, Viper will be the first thing I put on it..fortunately, you get great sound natively, so its not that important the way it was on a Note 2..

I tried the App but I hear no difference on the loudspeakers or BoomSound. I was expecting more bass (although the bass is already great out of the box).
Does this app supposed to only work on headphones?

Before starting with adjustment,
We need to choose correct output.
Which output we want to adjust.
There are three outputs to choose.
Built in speakers, line out (i.e wired headphone), wireless output(i.e Bluetooth headphone).
Hear it with correct output, while adjusting/setting the desired sound processing style.

i installed this app nooz yesterday and its nice. clean. i disabled poweramps eq and such and use this only. the difference i can hear in the car where it counts.
i read the entire thread on it in the note2 forums (took two days) but i see there was a nooz player that was pulled due to some issue. i am currently looking for it to test over poweramp.
I kept changing the settings in the built in speakers category to hear differences on the phone speakers itself but no difference.. :what:
I also do not see "music effects" under settings > sound. Help?
EDIT: Oh. It only works with noozy (classic) and play music. Not working on stock HTC music player.

I got it working on my HTC one max by uninstalling the "music enhancer" service/app with titanium backup. It force rebooted the phone, and after that, it works as native audio on everything! If you try this, make sure you make a nand backup... Did that about 8hours ago and haven't had any problems yet. Even have v4a audio on phone calls...
Poweramp is the best music player for Android hands down with a full 16-band equalizer
I'm using Viper Audio on mine. I use the stock music player and when it doesn't sound like its working, I open the viper app and it kicks in. Sounds great.

fx widget sound
vipers audio mod is only for rooted devices or for a custom roms, beacause the problem is busybox installation(in stock whit s-on is not possible),fx widget sound is the variant offert the music player function very volume, flash one custom rom and install viper mod(normally the custom roms is busyboxed)
