From what I understood by translating this with Google, we'll get Jellybean soon.
http://vnsony.com/threads/2486/
They say that the guy who told them very accurate info about new Sony smartphones(Yuga and Odin) also gave them info that there will be a Jelly Bean update in two weeks.
Well, your thoughts, gentlemen!
I think Xperia S will get support for updates up to Key Lime Pie, so it wasn't something to worry about.
Late October/early November seems most likely for JB on fujis and blues, late November for montblancs.
fujis= xperia s and arco hd
blues= xperia t tx v etc.
montblanc= xperia p u sola
that right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31991116&postcount=75
this is exciting! it is strange though that sony have kept so quiet on this release, as normally they tend to mention an update and then it comes a few weeks later? is there a reason why they haven't confirmed yet either that said handsets will be updated?
thanks

Yeah, pretty much. Those are board names: fuji - S3 based (S, Acro HD, Acro S, NX, etc), montblanc - U8500 based (P, U, Sola, Go, etc), blue - S4 based (T, TX, TL, V, not J). Expect an announcement soon.
I don't care about sony's UI jelly bean.
I just want AOSP android 4.2 work on our Xperia S...

Hope there will be a fully working AOKP soon. This sony's JellyBean could help to get camera and HDMI working on custom roms.
Finally I will not change my phone soon.....I'll wait what's coming for the Xperia S....
You know it would be cool if Sony beside his UI leaves a stock UI so we would basically have 2 UI's.Wouldn't that be cool?I saw that with Huawei phone i think...

Well I don't know about timing - on Android, Sony hasn't suddenly surprised users with version upgrades like that before, they tend to announce it in advance, and more recently, closer to the launch date as seen with the 2012 phones with ICS. This would be the tightest schedule yet, if they do announce it soon.
Previously, I wouldn't have minded much about Jelly Bean, but I was browsing a 2010 Sony Ericsson phone on 2.1 and it is MUCH faster than my 2012 Sony phone on ICS - so the aim of Jelly Bean to deliver performance and experience improvements of ICS is welcome in my book ... :good:
It's clearly going to happen. Sony have big plans to increase market share this year and promptness of updates is key to getting a god reputation. and Samsung has already got their jellybean updates rolling.....

I have bought XMP in April 2012 with great hope. I have used SE K550i for 6 years without any trouble and that's why I chose XMP as my first smartphone. I have waited for the ICS update with great expectations that it will empower my XMP to the full potential. But Sony disheartened me, like most of the people out there with a 2011 xperia device.
Then I thought that they are going to make things better by providing us with a buttery-smooth JB release, since 2011 xperia devices are only 1 year old at the time of announcing the JB by Google. But today I learned that we will not be getting the JB update. This is a bad move from Sony. They may not realize this but consumers these days are smart and well-informed. I bet all the 2012 xperia users are happy now, but soon they will realize that their smartphones will be as cramped as the 2011 xperias with ICS update. Also, they will be rejected just like us after only a year (or even less) from now. Moreover, as I understand form their official announcement on this matter, even Xperia U won't get the JB update (they have excluded this name from their list).
However, I will wait for Kamarush for the JellyXProject he promised.

Yes I think Apple's support is really good, but if you see a nexus phone it's the same. I mean the nexus s got the jelly bean update :good:
Guys, this is nothing new. The previous line of Xperias (X8, X10 mini + pro,...) were stuck on android 2.1 from sony. There was no official support from CyanogenMod, FXP moved to newer line of phones, yet the comunity keeps the development on and there are already CM10 ROMs. I had X8 and hated Sony for this. Now i have mini pro and I don't care about Sony, they gave us great hardware for great price. People there will keep it comming, just show some support to the devs, send them few bucks, at least for a beer, just to show appreciation.
Don' t worry guys we have XDA so we have no problem we will have jB and key lime pie sooner or later... cheers to DEVs! :good:

From updating my phone in the first batch of updated phones at every release, i would say any day it will be up because my pc companion updated itself too, so the release is going live very soon !
I think the next firmware update will be this:
"The Ice Cream Sandwich firmware includes improvements to: stability, WiFi, tethering/portable hotspot, camera (capture and playback), NFC and Messaging."
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2012/12/03/new-ice-cream-sandwich-software-version-for-xperia-p-xperia-u-xperia-go-and-xperia-sola/#more-6963
it says that the update is for p, u, go and sola but i wouldn't be surprised that we'll get the same update too...
Remember sony never promised us jelly bean but they would leave us unsatisfied with a buggy version of ICS
"We were glad to provide the Android 4.0.4 upgrade for our 2011 Xperia portfolio across most markets and the majority of models but, after thorough evaluation, we have concluded they will not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich.
Beyond Ice Cream Sandwich we would not able to guarantee owners of these smartphones the user experience you expect and we demand. We will however, continue to support all these products with firmware maintenance releases."

If they fail to address the notification bug ... again! then they don't pay a bit of notice because they have failed to address that in any version of ICS. Come to think of it, they have made the capture of pictures and videos a horrible experience with their choppy video and over compressed images.
All I can say is if it wasn't for the devs on XDA most Sony phones would suck because there are so many issues that only a handful of mods from the guys on here can remedy.
Agree with allaboutthecore the hardware is cool but the software is ****y
We know that this update was certified in early December and that some time ago Xperia P users were the first to get it. Have any other users received it? I seen many, many P users downloaded it but very few users have given updates changes, performance etc. Particularly because Sola and U users are not getting Jelly Bean I think we get to be concerned about new updates! There are so many bugs left on .54 firmware (Sola) it's really bad.
News: the .89 update which was registered for ALL NOVA THOR handsets is now being released for the U. It's probably just a matter of time for the rest of the Nova Thor handsets to get updated. Sony is known for limiting availability of new updates to manager servers.

maybe a little off topic here
I've got a Xpera Sola a couple of months ago, and it keeps random freezing and rebooting quite frequently,
at a time base of a dozen times a day, which make it unusable.
I've been waiting for new ROMs and hoping for a cure, stock 2.3s, stock 4.0s, and cm9s, but none of them works.
The only difference between stock and cm is stock do HANG/REBOOT but cm just HANG and drain battery.
While lost faith in new ROMs, I tried to figure it out myself, and here is what I found:
No reboot/hang in airplane mode (so it's the radio?)
No reboot/hand when ADB is pluged (so BAD news!)
My configuration:
Bare ROM, no additional apps.
GSM networked SIM card / no SIM card, makes no difference (I have no WCDMA card so can't test)
Wifi / no Wifi, makes no difference (maybe hang more often with Wifi on, but I'm not sure)
SD card (2G) / SD card (4g) / SD card (16G) / NO SD card, makes no difference
CPU governors, no difference
wake lock, wifi lock, accquired with terminal in cm9, still hang
Any feedbacks are welcome, need your help!
Thank you very much!

Can you kindly tell me how am i the only one who didn't find any bug in the .54FW, i mean is it because i am not modding anything or is it because i am using the Central Europe FW?
I see loads of thread where users are shouting about bugs, but everything is working lag and problem free here. I was a bit skeptical before buying a Sony phone but i didn't see any problem yet that would hamper my daily use.

Please take a tip from some of the guys here who have bought many Sony phones...there will NOT be Jelly Bean for the Sola from Sony now that they announced the schedule!
Thing is, once JB is released for GO/P, our devs would make short work and port it to SOLA and U. And the best part (or worst, for SONY), is that these Custom ROMs would be faster and better than Sony's official ROMs.
Sad. But Nice at the same time.

I don't have any bugs too. Only thing they should fix, is the floating touch in games (for ex. Dead Trigger). And JB for our sola and U is just a matter of time, as soon as it will be released on P and Go, our devs will port it with no problem

That's Sony for you, they release software updates very late.
http://www.android.com/kitkat/
The new version of Android has been announced & it says that it will be supported to run on low RAM (512MB), single core devices as well!
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/504575/20130909/android-4-kitkat-os-top-devices-features.htm
Post your thoughts about this.
I've heard a lot about its so called optimisation for lower end devices and I'm really praying that it is true!
Whilst the dev community here have done an excellent job in keeping the 2011 Xperia line fresh, it would be just awesome if it doesn't feel like our devices are being stretched to their maximum potential to run as is with JB.
Another 'hope' I have is that with the better support for low end...our batteries might just stop being blown away like a butterfly in a hurricane.
(Ok they say hope oft deceives, but one can only be optimistic)
I guess the new kernel will greatly improve the battery life & it says that there is optimization for running sensors with a very low battery consumption. :fingers-crossed:
@ak070
did you checked this video:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...drm-partition-backup-script-xda-developer-tv/
that guy told that Sony Ericsson devices probarly get no 4.4 only Sony Devices !
but we shall see
Lol! He didn't say that 2011 Xperias won't get 4.4. He said that 2011 Xperias won't be able to backup their DRM partition using that tool.
Here it is!
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-backup-the-ta-partition-on-your-sony-xperia-device/
We'll see what happens...
Even without 'official' support, I'd be optimistic about getting 4.4 on our Xperias, we do have a really good dev. community here.
We've got 4.3 roms here that are being worked on (CM 10.2 - ok its not ready for daily use but its being worked on) so hopefully when 4.4 comes we'll get the same!
we can use custom 4.4 roms but we are losing the advantages of ROM by sticking to same hardware since 2011...
it's good to have latest OS on older devices but we won't enjoy maximum of it ... in future we need up-gradable mobiles like assembled pc's ( really man )
It says its optimized to run on devices with old hardware (especially) so I guess if we happen to come up with a 4.4 ROM, it will be smoother than JB but obviously it will need latest kernel sources.
I really wish that custom configuration device concept comes true...
If this News is true den we Can Have Kitkat as smooth as GB..
Then it ll be great

Questions
Will it be available for HTC Wildfire S [512 RAM][600MHz Single Core] ?
Man, it will be available for everyone, sources are posted at google source, it depends on manufacturer or developer if it will be out for your device as an image or flashable zip. If it is a low activity device then it is clear that update will not be released for your device.
