Flashed Liquid Smooth now SIM wont unlock - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed the liquid smooth ics rom and it wants me to unlock my sim. I know the code is the default. It wont work. I tried locking it to have to enter the puk code which i also have and no matter how many times i enter a sim it will not ask for the puk. I'm at a loss as to what happened never heard of this before...

Ok I did the factory RUU and tried flashing the MR2V7 liquid rom for ics and im still having the same problem of not being able to unlock my sim. I still have S-Off and wiped everything, i cleaned out the phone in every way possible besides wiping my SD card. The only possible thing I can think of at this point is that I am in Japan and I only use my phone for an alarm clock / portable internet in wifi spots. I am on deployment. So I can't get service with verizon here.
If that's the case I might be screwed lol I have ran into many problems rooting phones over the years but I have never had a problem with a SIM card before... this is stumping me.

HELP! Rezound randomly reboots

I have checked the forums for this problem, I mean looked! Can't find anything.
My rezound keeps rebooting every 10 seconds. It turns on, then ill be using it, then BOOM reboot. Repeat...repeat....
What should I do? I wiped EVERYTHING.
I also wiped my SD Card as well, Everything like I mentioned above.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394659
Its a sticky in the General Forum.
Thanks! I'm gonna try this out!
This didn't work at all.
I followed everything, like 5 times. I removed the SIM card and the SD card, and cover. Everytime I go to type in the code to swith the network, my phone reboots, but only when I press a number to dial.
Are you rooted? If so what ROM and recovery are you running?
Well I am assuming I am rooted, I am on Clean ROM 4.1 SENSE ICS on Amon Ra
I have a weak signal, I checked to see if the network was the problem, and it was not.
Anytime I go to call anyone, or to dial, even if the back antenna case is on OR off, it reboots... I have no idea what to do. I will do anything to fix this.
EDIT: correction, now when I'm doing anything, when 30-45 of when im operating the phone, it will reboot
please help, My phone is TOTALLY UNSTABLE. :/
Try to clear cache and dalvik in recovery. If that doesn't work try wiping data.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I just did, along with that; I flashed the latest version of rez rom to see if that changes anything. I will keep you updated, thanks.
Nothing Changed! I went to go dial A number, and right when I dial the first number, it freezes and reboots. Even If I flash a new rom and everything. What do you suggest.
It would help to know what you did before this started (was it installing CleanROM ICS 4.X?)
Did you do follow Scott's RUU instructions prior to installing his ROM? If no, there is a possibility that the new kernel has confused your old firmware. If yes, do it again and see if the new stock ROM is working for you.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, look right under the pictures in post one of Scott's 4.1, there is a link regarding preparing for the ROM. Go there and follow it closely.
Best of luck.
You had the same problem that I just fixed,
like me you probably used a trash guide to upgrade to RUU.
Use this one:
http://www.teambamf.net/topic/3528-guide-to-install-ics-ruu-and-firmware-windows/
kernal
You need a kernel patch for GB firmware or these reboots will happen. To fix update firmware......instructions on xda

[Q] Will unlocking my bootloader/installing a ROM make me lose my flash?

Hello everyone! Got a few questions related to unlocking the bootloader on my Photon. My Photon is currently flashed to MetroPCS with (really slow) 3G, but no MMS. If I remember correctly, unlocking the bootloader wipes the memory. Would that do anything to my flash? If it doesn't, would installing a ICS or JB rom do anything to it? I wouldn't mind losing the 3g, as long as I can call and text. Thank you!
The last two times I unlocked mine it didn't affect anything. The first time wiped everything but I'm pretty sure I caused that.

That's weird, I said that because the 1st step for the Bootloader unlock says : "0) Back up all your apps and anything else you want to keep that is stored in /data, YOU WILL LOSE ALL FILES IN /DATA" I'm guess that since it's only data, it wouldn't touch my flash? I wouldn't mind having to reinstall my apps.
No, the worst of it is a data wipe. It would return to what it sees as 'stock' regardless of ROM.

Fair enough. Do you know if flashing CM 9 or 10 would ruin my MetroPCS flash?
I flashed a few roms on my Epic 4g when I had it on Metro and all I lost was the 3g. Is the Photon any different?
My guess is that you'd have to just reenter the APNs, but I've never tried it.
Check this thread for the MetroPCS stuff. I tried but search is down at the moment.

Well, I never thought of that...thanks! I'll probably make a backup, and try flashing CM9/10. Thank you!
A quick backup and test flash is always the best test.
Good luck.

[Q] My phone loses unlock after every reboot

Ok I hate starting a new thread but I have a problem that I can not seem to find any information on it,
I have had my S2 for 1.5 years and have run many many custom roms. Been using Paranoid lately. Today I tried flashing the newest Wanam Lite as my second rom keeping Paranoid as primary. (using dorimanx kernel)
Wanam failed to install. After boot the screen goes black. No problem... I will just go back to my Primary rom. Tried, Tested and True, Paranoid Android.
What's this? My phone is asking for SIM unlock code. I unlocked this phone 1 and a half years ago. Ok so I unlock it the same way i had done in the past for my S2 and many friends S2. I installed "Galaxy S Unlock" from the market and ran it. Ok phone is unlocked and I can use it like normal, as I have network signal.
But as soon as I reboot it is locked again. So now I have to unlock the SIM every time I reboot my phone.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
This is what I have tried so far.
- reinstalled ROM
- wiped dalvic
- wiped data
- wiped cache
- fixed permissions
Nothing I try solves the problem. Every time I reboot I lose my sim unlock.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
anyone have any insight into this??
has this happened to anyone else?

First of all , use the following to unlock your phone, if it works for you that would be gud otherwise flash the rom again (Fresh Install)
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/21618136/GalaxSimUnlock.apk
You cannot dual boot Leaked JB based roms as of yet ..
Exatley same things happend with me at this afternoon. My sgs 2 was unlocked nearly a year ago, and I'v been tryed a new "leaked - out" rom which I've found on the Sammobile forum. I9100XXLSJ - Offical, beta... or alpha.. dunno, but 4.1.2
Few minutes later I also tried an another rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037363 XXLSJ tweeked by Alliance.
I've wiped everything before every install, and I'm not sure where I've lost my "unlocked" status... Lol.. First time I was thinking its a PIN code only. Obviously I never seen this before. In the last few year I installed, and tried many roms without any issue. Mostly Darky's, CM 7-9.
But long story short: your tool solved my problem under a minute. Thank you so much MR.Killer
Ps: maybe I also tried a CM10 nighty build today.. I cant bear in my mind everything

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. This app solved my problem with the sim unlock. Saw it on the market but it wanted me to pay
I didn't know that the leaked JB could not be dual booted. That would explain the black screen. I think I will back up my primary to SD and try installing that rom again. Does this work on any kernel or just the one it is supplied with?
Anyways. Thanks again. You solved my BIG problem.

only 'Philz' kernel does support the leaked Jb rom or one based on it for know
The app is free to use if you get it from Spockys thread.
I believe you have to pay if you get it through play store.

Got my phone back

Okay i just got my phone back from being jtagged i have unlocked the bootloader, and rooted and installed a custom recovery. Now my only question is concerning the updates 2.04 and 2.06 for certain roms and kernals. Will i have to push those updates for certain roms to run perfectly? idk if this a dumb question but im not in the mood to brick my device.
Just flash your Rom and kernels for said ROM. You'll be fine. Just wipe and flash

Okay thank you, last question since ive gotten my phone back i havent been able to connect to 4G. I keep getting the eHRPD... ive tried rebooting, taking out the sim card, and even changing roms... so from what ive looked up from previous threads.
People have fix this problem from a couple of ways...
1. Getting a new sim card, but i assume this wont work since i put the sim card back into my Gnex and i get 4G perfectly
2. idk if this works but factory resetting, but will i lose root?
If these don't work would it be close to say this is a DNA sim card issue which was supposedly fixed in 2.06 and if so can i update to 2.06 and keep my bootloader unlocked, s-off'd and root? if so how?
I really wanna keep sense 5 but i also cant have a device without 4G...
Thank you for yall help.
Did you have 4G before rooting? Or after root, but before Sense 5?
Try downloading this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsIm5ldC5hbmRpcmMubHRlb25mb2ZmIl0.
Open it and scroll down to where it says preferred network method and try just setting it to LTE Only just to see if LTE works. If it does work, switch it back to the CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto setting. If it doesn't then it's possible the hardware is defective. I could be wrong, but I think that SIM card issue would be noticeable in an error message or the icon showing that the SIM card is missing. It would be more than 4G just not working.

Back to stock to activate my sim card, how to....

Not sure which forum this should be in so i'm asking it here. Apparently, I can't activate my new sim card for the 4G unless i'm stock, unrooted, locked bootloader. I guess I jumped the gun after I got my phone, but before I got the sim card and rooted, unlocked, etc. I think I know the steps to take to get it back to compltely stock, but I want to make sure.
I think I need to run the script and relock the bootloader, then flash the stock RUU file.
Is that correct? Is that the correct order? Am I missing any steps?
Thanks a bunch for any speedy repsonses because i'm in a bind right now and have to get this resolved by morning.

I'm pretty sure being unrooted is not a requirement. Just install this ROM and boot the phone with your SIM inserted. It should activate fine.
OK. I will try that because I am having a heck of a time getting activated on my CM rom. Even had a Verizon tech trying to help me for over an hour.
I see that ROM requires me to flash a new boot.img. When I rooted, the directions said to flash dirtyracuns Hboot. Will flashing this one effect anything? If I change ROMs, do I need to flash DR hboot again?
Thanks for the info...

Boot and HBoot are two very different things. Flashing different boot images will not affect your engineered hboot.
You definitely don't want to talk to vzw reps if you're running cm. The more tech support requests they get from users running non-official builds, the less likely they will be to ever allow phones with unlocked bootloaders on their system.
Turns out my problem was from a borked radio. Being new to this, I didn't even know that could happen. Saw mention of it in another thread when I was just browsing around. Thought maybe that might be my problem so I followed the directions for fixing a borked radio and got connected right away. Boy this forum is helpful. Thank you.
BTW, what is the best network setting to use if I am in the US only, Global, LTE\CDMA or GSM\UMTS?

I am having a similar activation problem. What did you do to fix the radio? My problem started a few days ago.
I found the RUU for just the radio and applied it. No change. I get a LTE signal but the phone doesn't know it's own number and thinks it is roaming.
I followed the steps in this thread to restore my radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45476579#post45476579
Unfortunately, I never was able to get the radio to work with any of the CM based ROMs so I have ended up using a stock based ROM. ViperLTE. It is an excellent ROM and works great, but I got the phone recently so that I could run CM ROMs. Had I known I was going to have so many problems, I would have waited until February when my upgrade date came up and got one of the newer phones. I guess I still can, but I'd hate to waste the money I paid for this phone so soon.
sim issue
Turns out my SIM was actually bad. When you looked in the about, the SIM id number didn't show up. It had worked under 10.2 stable for several weeks before it stopped working. It had gotten worse over a week or so. At first a reboot would fix it. I did a clean flash of CM 11 at this point. After replacing the SIM the id number showed up but still couldn't make calls.
The problem went away after restoring a CM 10.2 back that had worked. I then did a dirty flash of CM 11 over it, with the kit kat gapps. It all worked out fine. I am speculating that a clean flash of CM 11, might not work.
