I was browsing the SGS3 forums. They are getting The Avengers for free on the Samsung Media Hub. What do I have to change in my build.prop so Media Hub recognizes ky device as an actual SGS3? I know its far fetched but it might work

not sure you can get it working since i *think* it needs stock touchwiz to work since its propriety software. apparently, its also encrypted, so prolly will be a no-go
Now why would you do that to me? Lol
I did get the app to install but it just tells me wrong device id. So I think you're right.
But I'm gonna dl an SGS3 Rom when I get home and edit my build.prop to see if I can make "****" happen.
Try changing the display ID to SGH-T999, since that's T-Mobile's S3's device name and I think only TMO has the free option atm, I dl'ed it, you'll need to make a samsung account as well btw, don't forget to restart after editing the build.prop.
It's a no go. Oh well.

Hey everyone-
I don't believe this question has been posted before, I did do a quick search before posting so don't shoot me, lol. Anyway, I downloaded the APK for the media hub from the JI2 update, and I currently have Eugene373's daily driver rom installed. The previews work and everything, but when I rented a movie, the Blues Brothers, and I try to play it I get an error message saying: "Your device does not support the requested file format." If anyone can help me I'd be much ablidged, thanks.

I RENTED a movie so I believe it works differently. I know if you buy a movie it can few viewed offline so maybe it works differently.
Ok so this is really weird, I opened the video through the stock video player and It showed the time length of the movie but not video or audio
do you have voodoo kernel installed? I read in the voodoo thread that some videos wouldn't play on voodoo kernel wheras they would on stock kernels.
I installed the whole JI2 and the hub player worked fine, bought Iran Man and watched the whole thing. Did take around an hour or two download. Try playing while connected to WI-Fi I kind of remember that you need to do that for the first minute or so. Otherwise Sorry
Where are these files stored? Is there a specific folder?
I'm having the same problem. Maybe its because its not made for the vibrant. I've tried other video players frome the app store and got nothing. They all want to play off the sd card and the movie is only on the media hub app.

Though this is merely an educated guess (as really I have no clue, and no desire to pay for DRM-ware just to check), but it's likely there are at least a few system integrity checks built into the playback capabilities of video downloaded via MediaHub in an attempt to thwart hacks.
Remember, Samsung has a vested self interest in making MediaHub a closed system, and this may include their app doing enough integrity checks to say "no way Jose" when running this app on a non-standard rom. Granted, I have no way of knowing for certain if this is indeed the case, but it wouldn't suprise me if it was.
This is generally how DRM laden systems work.

although this thread is old news, you are correct my friend, it only worked once i was on the stock JI2 rom.
Found this application which was once only on i-application(iphone) working fine on our touchpad and yes it also plays good on my LG optimus one too. It is like google currents but a little different in work around. Enjoy the port.
Here is the app
Press thanks if I helped.........
no offense but I'm pretty sure i've seen this posted somewhere else..u might wanna give credit to the original poster who yanked this from the sg III launch event..

yes you are right but most of the posts and topics look nice, neat and clean.
and I think something is still better than nothing....
what do you say?
compared to the browser....you'd have to argue the need for this, it was designed for the phone (GS3) and all that's been done is ported from there. If they developer made a bespoke tablet version then it'd be nice. but hey, thats my beef with ICS at the moment, many apps are stretched and look wrong
I like it alot.... Thanks for sharing,I hadn't seen the other thread so glad to have the app on my og evo and touchpad

Someone was working on a version where they adjusted the fonts to make them look better on a tablet but I never saw the actual package posted.

I was working on it.... Never got it right, as it appears I was only able to change the UI fonts. The article fonts themselves appear to be set remotely and just displayed locally. So it didn't even fix the biggest issue with the fonts which is in the articles themselves. It only fixed the UI and header fonts. I was going to post the APK anyway, but I found a force close error when trying to add new feeds, so that made things not so nice. Add to that the fact that for some reason, the APK wasn't installable unless I re-signed it, that makes it difficult to switch between versions without uninstalling/reinstalling, I decided not to post the modified APK.
If a developer type wants, I can send the modified APK directly. I'm not going to post it here because it's A) not stable and B) didn't achieve the intended purpose anyway, and C) I don't want to have to support something that's broken/unfinished.
Anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an APK can do the same thing I did. All I did was reduce the font sizes in the XML layout and values files. As I said though, that didn't have any effect on the actual article content, which appeared to be defined remotely.
I'm in Bulgaria and S-Health is not available here and probably won't be (we don't have Music/Video Hub, S Suggest either even though phone's been on sale since international launch). Can anybody share the app or point a workaround to download it. Wanna see if it actually works here once it's on the phone or will complain it doesn't like where I am.

Usual location in Themes post SHealth .

The apk there doesn't work. I did found a work around though. Went to samsungsapps.com in the UK store, registered a new account. Signed in to it in Kies and downloaded and transfered the app like that. And it does work.
Hi,
I learnt the Groupcast feature today by chance and loved it. Me and my wife have S III, it's very useful for us. However, we also have other Samsung mobile devices (Galaxy S, Galaxy W and Galaxy Note) around and it would be great to use this feature all over these devices. Is there any chance to add the Allshare Play app to these older devices ? (At least the Note)
Has anyone tried it ?
Thx.
no ideas ?
Guys,
I really would like to ask this again since it's a nice feature and we'd like to see it on other devices as well. Am I wrong ?
I believe the note can use the allshare app... Don't know for sure, haven't tried...

I went to a Samsung event this week and saw this too. Pretty cool. Not sure what all you need to make this work, but I know it has NOT been working on my HTC EVO 4G LTE even with the ported TouchWiz 4/NatureUI launcher. Of course it probably would help if I was running a Deodexed ROM. I will try this again after I flash one of those and see if the ported SecLauncher2.apk provides enough of a framework to get any of these S-*/AllShare features to work.
From what I can tell you need at least/some or all of the following:
AllshareDMC.apk
AllshareMediaServer.apk
AllSharePlay.apk
AllshareService.apk
PhaseBeam.apk
SecMediaProvider.apk [?]
Try backing up the originals of those files on your ICS Note and then porting them.
I don't think these features work on GB as they are dependent on WiFi direct and I'm guessing Sammy's implementation for that is probably different on pre-GSIII devices.
Hope that helps!
I came across this app called Tapestry, that essentially does the same thing as Group Cast, but much much easier to use. My friends have the GSIII, and to setup a Group Cast, password and all, takes 15 clicks. With Tapestry, it only takes 3! Moreoever, it works on any Android device, not just GSIII's, so you can enjoy the experience with all your Android friends. It only supports pictures for now, but that's pretty much what I use it for anyways. Lastly, the coolest feature that Tapestry has that Group Share doesn't have it that in Tapestry, you have synchronized pinch/zoom/panning, and also direct Peer-to-peer download by swiping down on the viewer screen you immediately download the picture onto your phone! What a cool way to share photos! You can check it out here.
When I bought the Tab S, Paper Garden was one of the Samsung apps I was looking forward to use. Unfortunately, us Canadians got screwed over and hence, the Paper Garden app was not included. Any chance this app will be added later on through an update? Can an apk of this app be used on my Canadian tab S? Any help or input would be appreciated guys.. :fingers-crossed:

I tried it as i read a lot and i wanted it to work on my tab pro 8.4. i really hope someone ports it. it installs and loads fine but then says it isn't available in this country which is weird considering i live in the U.S
I had never heard of this app before today and was looking forward to it. Either I am missing something or there are only about twenty to chose from.

Has anybody managed to get this to work in the US on the tab pro's or other Samsung tablets?
@budeone
I understand that it is working for you?
Can you tell us what (at least one...) locale is required for the app to work?

App opened up and gave my choices that I can download for free and others to buy.
There was nothing in there I wanted so I moved on.
I found Zino
http://www.zinio.com/www/index.jsp;...9A59462ECB74.prd-main-news3?_requestid=227146
and that installed fine and I am able to read magazines now.
Right,
But I was asking about a locale, and I meant if you can tell us from which country does your tablet come from. US?
And the question results from the fact that on my device the app displays only an info that it won't work in my country and then closes...
Thx

So it's probably not really a country issue, as it gives two different results even for devices from the same country. I bet some components like additional app, library or most likely additional framework component may be needed; my very first idea is that the app cannot resolve the country at all because of missing additional framework componet designed to be a proxy between app and some Samsung core mechanisms. Checking country using that interface fails, but as there is no fc it seems that programmers assumed that such a situation may happen and the code is probably handling the exception in some trivial way, ie. by providing bulk country code, which isn't indeed papergarden-enabled because... it does not exist. That's the reason of displaying an info about unsupported region.
That's only a theory but better that than nothing.
Can someone look throughout the contents of /system/framework or /system/lib for a files with a names that can be easily connected with "papergarden" or "adobe" or "magazine"?
Is it possible to provide a ONLY filelist of whole /system of Tab S? Dont want to download whole dump....
Would be awesome if someone with programming talent unlike me lol figured it out
Hi, you can use TUNNEL BEAR app.
I installed the app on my S 8.4. I created a Samsung account and added a few of the free magazines to my library but why I try and read any of them I get a "failed to install. (300)" error.
Tablet was bought from Amazon in the UK but the CSC is for The Netherlands.
