HTC OTA Sense 4.1- Battery Issues? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ever since the OTA update for 4.1 Sense for Evo 4G. I have noticed my phone does not last longer then it use to.
(running stock)
I use to be able to run it in from 8am - 5pm. Now around 1pm I have to plug it in. I give it just about the same usage rate.
Have ya stock people, noticed a change in the battery performance since the OTA update?

I'm Stock on the latest OTA and have no problems with battery. I get at least 18 hours. Maybe check apps to see what's killing the battery

I use juice defender ultimate since og EVO. Got to say that I notice a difference with it, but not as big as the og. Stats says I get 1.50 times the juice I wouldn't have without it. Idk how accurate that is. Seems random to me.
Honestly, the difference is so minimal I could say its possibly a placebo.

[Q] 4G LTE on the THUNDERBOLT AFTER ROOT

Hey just came from an EVO to THUNDERBOLT was wondering after i root will i be able to enable and disable the 4G LTE on my ThUNDERBOLT or if this another way to do it ?
You can do it before or after root.

The TeamAndIRC 4G LTE Settings app (free in the market) will allow you full control. The latest update makes it even easier...
does turning off 4G really save that much battery. The first day using my ThunderBolt I thought the battery drained pretty fast. Came home after 8 hours, minimal use at work, talked a bit and battery got down to 25%. I did a factory reset (my reasons) and removed Advanced Task Killer and today my battery was 50% after work (talked for a hour) and minimal use at work (no games, no internet). Honestly I thought it actually behaved like my Evo (rooted). Will most likely get the extended battery still, but really didnt notice the battery issues today.
Hopefully will root soon. Remove the bloatware.

I agree but they might of wanted to stay away from the 4g switch temporarily because of all the trouble the EVO had in the beginning from the switch draining the battery, just a theory I believe.

[Q] Battery life

Heres the deal, im not a complete noob to rooting and installing kernals, roms and such however I am not the fore most expert either. I need help with my battery life on my TB! I had my phone off last night and charged it when I got up this morning around 5:30am I turned it on. I have not made any phone calls and only had it on to check my calander and use the calculator twice. I am running Lighting Rom. 3.3.1 and have blue emidemic theme flashed over that. I use launcher pro plus as my launcher and have facebook and twitter widgets open. Since this morning I have deleted the facebook and twitter widets hoping to stop the constant syncing is the background. I have Advanced task kill running as well trying to extend my battery. I have a list of every app i have on my phone typed up as a check list for when I wipe my phone going from rom to rom if you need to see that then PM me your email address and ill send it to you.
Please help I Love my phone but i dont what to have to buy that ugly extended battery. I am open for suggestions however when you send your suggestions please tell me how to do it or where I can get detailed instructions.Thank you in advance.
A lot of us are experiencing phenomenal results with the new RUU running das bamf. I haven't been charging since 8:00 this morning and have only used 10% battery on 3G. Try this Rom out. I could go all day before I need a recharge now.

How is that rom? does everything work with it? I was reading alittle bit about it yesterday but I havent had time to really disect it.
Try another kernel, there are lots to choose from. And see my comments in the imoseyon kernel thread for more battery saving options
About that..does anyone know if their battery is 1400 or 1350 maH? Mine is 1350 and I don't have 1400 and don't know if it is abnormal

I've been using lightning rom 3.3.1. Along with Adrynalyne 4.4.3. I only had one day so far that was killer on my battery life. I downloaded current widget and watch now for any
Anomolies.
I've posted what my battery was like being on airplane mode below.

Here's a good chart of my current showing a transition from wifi to 4g. Battery temperature went to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. All I've been doing is cruising the xda forum.
EDIT....
I also maxed out screen brightness during this time because I was outside. I'll post another chart soon when I go back into wifi mode. I'll also maintain the same screen brightness.

Sorry for the back to back post but it's not letting me upload images on edit mode.
These pictures are being back in wifi from 4g and maintaining the same screen brightness. I think what I should do is reduced my oc from 1.5mhz to 1000 mhz while on 4g to reduce such a large current draw. Any ideas?

Hey I'm running Bamf Remix 1.6 and I'm not getting really good battery life... what kernel are you using?? Are you using using any power managers on it???
Does anyone know if anyone checked their battery 1400mah lion that came with the thunderbolt? Mine is 1350, but I don't know if that is normal. When I check the battery widget it says that, But I thought it was 1400.

The Thunderbolt battery life just flat out sucks. I don't know if it's a hardware issue or a software issue related to Sense but it seems strange that the Droid Charge is getting over 2 days on a 1600 mAh battery on a single charge AND it's a 4g-LTE phone. So I don't know what's going on at HTC but that's ridiculous to hear Samsung's numbers.
I have two 1700 mah extended (slim) batteries and an external charger on order from ebay. I'll let everyone know if it helps or not.
I'm going through about 3 full charges a day so maybe at least I wont have to leave it plugged in all day.

Opinions will vary but do your self a favor and install this rom = Bamf Remix 1.6.2
I use the lightning rom series (all versions) with the blue epedemic theme. Very stable amd I tried just about every kernel with them. However nothing and i mena nothing comes close to the Bamf Roms / kernels.
You also have to consider that its not just the rom or kernel it is also what you leave on or turn off, what you sync, apps that you use and a ton of over things. I am always willing to help out a Noob. So if you neeed some tips on what to do after you flash yuor rom of choice, hit me up on a PM.
Take a look at my screenshot (attached) heavy use all day on 3g only and I got 18hours out of it. Its normally about 24 to 26, but I realy used my phone today (Texts, emails, facebook, browserand of course XDA)

whats acceptable 4g battery drain?

running liquid aosp+ kangbang. overclocked to 1228/245 ondemand. off the charger at 9am im now down to 75% with virtually no usage. is this bad for 4g being on?
looking at battery usage is says cellular radio is taking up everything. im on the latest leaked radio too. i wonder if i should go back the the last official ota radio.

That's about double what mine is using on standby with no use. I'm looking at about 1.6% per hour standby. I'm on the RUU 2.11 radio too. I've got my sync schedule set up to fairly conservatively, and made sure it doesn't update whether whenever the widget is viewed.

I'd point the finger at the ROM. I'm using the same radio and getting much better results than you're showing, and I'm using a Sense ROM. Your's should be equal or better than that. Even under moderately heavy use I can eek out 10 to 12 hours on a charge. You should definitely be doing better than that on an AOSP ROM, I would think.
I would stay off LTE unless you're actually using it. It's just a waste if your phone is just idling.

CDMA is STILL a battery killer. It can kill a battery FAR, FAR faster than LTE ever could. I'm inclined to agree with Fixxxer2008; what's the point in having LTE if you can't just use it? And at 1.4 percent per hour idling, I'm not sure that qualifies as a grotesque overuse of power. I think that's conservative by ANY measure.

If the OP wants to take the time to deal with it, I would wipe /system, /cache, dalvik cache and /data and redo their rom over again with only restoring user data at the most. Perhaps something just coincidentally went out of wack with the latest update you did for the ROM. I doubt it's the radio doing it, but it would take more time/effort to know like reading through the logcat to see if there's anything weird going on and such.
i was gettibg pretty decent battery with CM7 + DreamKernal + MR 3.5 radio
i could watch a whole movie and it would use abour 10% battery
that and when i'd go to sleep(normally 5 - 6 hours), when i woke up it lost about 7 - 8% battery.
i switched to the latest Synergy + DreamKernal + MR 3.5 radio
only did so because of issues with Skype
now it consumes 13 - 15% battery watching a movie, and wheb i wake up it's used more then 20% battery.
i have the 2750 extended battery

Use a ROM that allows you to toggle between 3 and 4g. That way you can switch to 4g when you'really in data-heavy mode and idle in 3g.
I believe at least a Chingy related ROM has such a toggle.

Remember to use the settings in terminal it recommends so you can choose how much it will undervolt and which governor it will use.

FWIW, I ran the OTA, then returned to my heavily modified deodexed stock ROM and the kernel I was running before the OTA. All I wanted was the updated radio.
My battery life is just fine, and I don't have whatever that VZW spyware app was.
I ran the OTA and afterward flashed my previous kernel, and reflashed my previous custom rom (RezRom 1.5) and I've been unplugged since 5:00 AM this morning. It's now just after noon, and my standard battery is at 78%. To me battery life is looking good, but I know I don't have the Verizon Location Service running, cause it's not on my phone.
Stock with no root at all here on a fresh refurb with the 2750 extended 3.7v OEM and I'm seeing significantly WORSE battery life after the OTA. I know the Verizon location agent crap doesn't help but even with it force stopped thru the day its definetly not what it used to be. Thinking about rooting and romming lol anyone think I should or just wait for ota ICS since I've waited this long. (Have never flashed a single rom in my life) lol

I've noticed with ICS that if I accidentally leave my 4g on, it does not kill my battery like it did using GB. For battery life, it has traditionally been Wifi is best, 3g is second, and 4g is a battery killer, but now I am not so sure. I am not around 4g enough to test it, but if you are, that would be a great experiment. If you do it, please report back as inquiring minds want to know.

I've seen a couple posts saying Meanrom ics is killing battery pretty quickly. It may, I haven't updated the past 2 versions... But in one of the latest versions, he's did post less emphasis on battery savings and more on power. I'm on an earlier version and get great battery life.

Screen off time on ICS is substantially better than screen off time on GB (like 1% drain every 3 hours). Screen on time seems to be worse. In the end, I get through the entire day using MeanROM ICS with about 50% battery left (today: 13.5 hours off charger with 1.5 hours screen on time). So, it is not quite as good as GB, but since I recharge every night anyway and I love ICS's interface and features, I stick with it. I am going to flash ZR3dX tonight to see what the new version is about though.
