Hi people!
I am running Rootbox 2.6.1 JB on my I9100G. I could connect my device to the PC as a media device but I wanted USB Mass Storage so I did some research and downloaded USB mass storage for JB.apk (v1.0) and it worked fine. Then I flashed the Horsepower 3.0.0 for AOSP Jellybean Roms and that app stopped working. So I uninstalled the app and tried to connect it but the phone wasnt even detected as a media device. I tried a lot of times(with USB mass storage toggle.apk v 1.1.4 as well) but i just cant connect to the PC. My phone is without contacts and I want to restore them via pc ASAP! Please help!
Thanks a lot!

Actually the problem is that I was on the stock kernel which was included with the rootbox 2.6.1. So will I have to flash the entire ROM again?

This is a repost from the Q&A forum I've posted a few hours ago, so I apologize. I'm just trying to get as much insight as possible on the problems I'm facing.
Complete noob here, let alone first android device and coming from Iphone. After I got my first Android device; the Samsung Galaxy Note (I717) I opted to go for another operating system to enable the tethering feature. I was successful in rooting my phone, installing CWM, and successfully flashing my ROM to the latest CM9 ROM.
However, I have a few simple task that I simply cannot accomplish, they are as follows:
1. Computer can no longer see phone as a mass USB storage device. I have enabled USB debugging mode on phone through settings.
2. No music player app can see my music files I have loaded on my microSD card, of which I have manually loaded through the computer to the microSD card.
3. the gallery cannot see my pictures I have transferred into the SD card.
However, all these files can be seen and accessed only through the OI File Manager app on the phone.
I do not know what I am missing.
Can somebody help Please?
Thank you,
Jeff
I have a similar post in the Q & A, its not the ROM, I believe it has something to do with custom kernals\ICS OS and the hardward of the galaxy, I dont think its completely compatible, hence the reason samsung hasnt officially released it. Both times Ive flashed to ICS on my galaxy note, my usb mass storage abilities have been lost. I can no longer connect VIA USB either.
Hmmmm no problems here?
I have used all of the ICS roms released since the first leak, through all of the CM9 updates, hybrid tablet...etc. I haven't had any particular problems connecting my phone to my PC, unless I was using the 15 toggle mod....
All if the ICS leaks you have to go under setting - Wireless and Network - more - USB Utilities - USB mass storage...
On the CM9 ROM, when you connect to PC, you get a notification that you have to acknowledge, then choose USB mass storage...
Like I said, both methods worked fine for me, unless I installed the 15 toggle mod on the leak..
Cheers!
The CM9 rom is an unofficial beta build. It's very good for what it is, but you shouldn't expect a beta build to be an every day rom. I had issues with USB transfer too.
Here is how to connect your gNote with CM9 in USB Mass Storage mode:
Settings>Storage>Press the menu key>USB Computer connection>Check the box against "Mass Storage".
Now connect as usual...
Enjoy...

Resurrection Remix JB v3.0.3 is based on CM10 which doesn`t support mass storage mode yet (correct me if I`m wrong). However there is an apk that I use to force Mass storage mode. I use it on Resurrection Remix ICS 2.6.1 and it works great, not sure if it will work on Jelly Bean.

Search for, download and install the Samsung USB driver. It's in the forums.

I am on windows 8. how do I view the SG3 sd card files?
Thanks!!!
Use the popular SGS3 UMS App.
Ext SD Card reading is supported, you can't move files through internal sd card and Pc.
Use bluetooth for that.
I've had the same problem many times after changing and testing new ROM's.
You can restart your computer and phone - has worked for me before.
Change ROM - this has worked for me, seemed like a particular ROM didn't like my PC setup / drivers whatever and refused to connect!
Change cable - they don't last that long, I've had to replace 4-5 since my HTC Desire days - all that plugging and unplugging can bust them - they always still charged, but no PC connection.
Try a different USB port - You never know!
Uninstall the drivers on your PC for your S3 - reinstall - use the SDK drivers - or from KIES. I seen users report that the change between a ICS ROM and a JB ROM and vice versa can cause issues, not sure if applies to you.
where can i find a rom for my shv-e120s that is converted to i9100? thx or any rom that have no korean apps
No it cant be converted . Because it uses LTE . Sort of bricking your phone . If it will be in success it will not have a mobile connection
