[Q] [HELP] Google Now Not Taking Commands, Just Search Everything - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have updated my SIII with the Poland release of JB. Everything works perfect, but Google Now does not.
When I open it and ask to show me my next meeting, which is the weather, or whatever I want, it completes the search field and search for it on internet. Always throwing web results instead of cards or answering me with Voice.
Anyone knows why is not accepting any command? I checked all the settings of it and don't know what else could be missing (or in the worst case if it depends on where you are located in the world).
Thanks,

[Q] How can I prove that my Android Device (SGS2) has been used by someone else?

Back Story:
My phone was left in my house (shared with other people) yesterday while I was at work. When I got home I was checking missed calls, voicemail etc and I noticed that some text messages were missing. I looked a bit more and it seems that 2 seperate sms message threads had been deleted and a number of contacts had been deleted too. Now, this has happened before to another housemate but we couldn't prove that it had been done. We are pretty sure we know who did it but I need concrete evidence that the phone was accessed.
Phone Specs: Samsung Galaxy S2, rooted, running CM7 latest nightly. I also have Cerebrus installed if that helps.
So my questions are as follows:
1) Is it possible to see what activity was happening on my phone yesterday? I don't have any "logging" software running.
2) Is it possible to retrieve the deleted SMS messages?
I work in IT so am pretty tech savvy, just not in the workings of the Android OS!
All help greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have already been able to restore the contacts that were deleted using the restore functionality in gmail.
The short answer is no. It is, at least in theory, possible to "undelete" stuff, but it isn't usually practical. Even if you did, you wouldn't have "proof" in the legal sense.
That said, I have been involved in a similar situation. Here's the approach we used. It is reasonable to assume that this behavior will continue. Therefore, get some logging software installed. Do NOT talk about it. Do nothing out of the ordinary. Just quietly install some software that will let you see what is going on with your phone. I know there are apps which will email an alert when accessed, snap a pic from the front-facing camera, log SMS to email, remotely lock the phone, etc etc. Based on what you need to accomplish, get these set up and then BE PATIENT. wait a few days (unless you normally leave your phone at home) and leave it again when the person in question might be around.
A pic would be sufficient proof I would think for confronting a roomie. If nothing else log your sms's. I use integrated Google Voice so I'd get an alert on my PC even if I didn't have the phone (very handy, that), but that may not be an option for you.
I also use SeekDroid for remote locking, and I -think- there's a remote camera provision, but it's at a higher paid level than I am subscribed to. At any rate that's my suggestions.
Or, the simple solution: Put a better lock code on your phone.

A lock code would help prevent the behavior in the future. For catching the vandal red-handed, I believe an app like Gotcha! may do what you need.

Google now (jelly bean) vs Voice search (ICS). Commands are missing?

I've only had jelly bean for about one month or so, and I barely starting using voice commands again as of recently. One of the things I noticed is commands that used to work on ICS no longer work, and that upsets me.
For example, I used to be able to say "call *random business*" and it would give me a list of the closest ones and a single tap would suffice to start the call. Now, on jelly bean, it simply googles the words "call *random business*" which is stupid and completely useless.
Another example, I used to be able to say "navigate to *blargh *" and it would either take me to the closest one or give me a list to pick. Now it just googles the latter words.
So, can anyone tell me what's going on?

Click to collapse
There should be two google searches. One is google search (icon with the g) and the other is google voice search(icon with the mic). Google search when using the mic it will bring up the usual google search links. Google voice search will have the dink sound and the words "speak now"
will bring up random business links. Example Robert Smith has two phone numbers. Open google voice search (icon with mic) and say "call Robert Smith" it brings up the two numbers for him. Click on one and it puts it in the dialer or directly calls(i forget which).
I just tried "navigate to my home address" and in a few seconds navigation came up. And started taking me home.

Voice-to-Text got stupid

I use Google's voice search / voice actions... whatever it is called... not one of the after-market ones. Up until recently, voice-to-text worked really well. I was always asking my phone questions like, "What is the distance to the sun?" or "Navigate to Jim Punjack's house." etc., but lately, it doesn't understand anything I'm saying. I could say "Navigate to Jim Punjack's house" and it will show suggestions like, "Aggregate of two gipsy pancake houses". Did Google make some change in their services? I know "Google Now" is a superior version that is not available to my phone (HTC Amaze) unless I install a custom ROM. I'm running rooted, S-Off, with stock ROM but because of this, I'm considering finding a ROM that will allow me to use Google Now. UNLESS one of you has a tip to get this Android 4.0.1 version of Google Voice Search/Actions to be reliable again?

[Q] How to use GPS in an APK

Hello, I'm sorry for the strange tittle. Well, in my job my boss (an devoloper) ask me one think: Create an simple app that uses GPS to show near places.
I know that already have an App for this, but he asks me to create an from sources.
What I need is, how to toggle GPS in the app, or I mean: How do I make my app "call" GPS Positioner and looks for near places that was setuped before.
Like:
I open the app go to "My places" and set a place like: "Italian Restaurant 1" and "Italian Restaurant 2" and when I go to the mapped gps, I write "italian restaurant near" or, something that doesn't metter. And it shows the nearest Restaurant.
So guys, how to do this?
It's a development question: So doestn't show me any apks that does the same thing! I already developed others apps, so be easy and answer the question, mentioning HOW DO I DO THIS.
Thanks for everyone who wants to help me.

Chrome on Android - enable website to access location data

This is a general question. I'm having trouble "forcing" a website to utilize my location. There's a site we use at work. It is built on a Google Maps layer. We can log work completed and other information for units that appear as features/layers on the map. That all works just fine. The trouble is with the "auto-follow" function on the map. The guys who have IOS devices are not having any problems. If I use the generic "internet" browser or the browser in LastPass, auto-follow works as expected. It pans/zooms the map to my current location and puts a blue dot wherever I am. The issue is that auto-follow does not function in Chrome browser.
I have tried many things so far, from the very basic like this: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/142065?hl=en
To this: http://superuser.com/questions/591758/how-do-i-make-chrome-forget-a-no-to-geolocation-on-a-site
to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...r-a-website-for-which-i-previously-refused-it
and this: https://buddypunch.freshdesk.com/su...tion-services-on-my-mobile-device-or-browser-
So far, nothing has worked. I'm beginning to wonder if there is something within the app/site that is not requesting location data in a way that Chrome either understands or wants to comply with. I have a line to the "developers" and if I can give them specific information, they can probably make some changes.
Yes, I could use other browsers. But Chrome is my default and is integrated with everything else on my phone (T-Mo Galaxy S7 with most current versions of everything) But I am not the only person experiencing this. I'd like to help out those guys (most of which are not very tech savvy) by cracking this nut.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
I found the cause:
https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/native-hardware/user-location/obtain-location?le=en
Google went and changed things on EVERYONE without notice. They aren't evil, just not always real nice.
