Ages ago, I rooted my phone using an automatic rooter, but now I can't seem to find it. Can someone help me please?
If u are on GB then download Siyah 2.6.14.TAR and use Odin Method as described in other Threads.
If u are on ICS download latest Siyah 4.1.5.Tar same method as above.

I've just had an update to my GS2 and wanted to root but I can't find anything for XXLQ6. I have rooted GB and the first ICS (forget the code number) without any problems but for the life of me I can't find how to root XXLQ6. Is it the same files/process as XXLQ5 or other ICS builds or am I just gonna have to wait because it's not been rooted yet?
Any help appreciated
Either use the old cf root lq5, last kernel released or easily root it proper while keeping stock kernel with method 1 from my signature.

XXLQ6 is a radio. I don't think there's a ROM with that designation.
Try flashing this file:
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip
Flash it through the stock recovery by applying from the sdcard. It'll install the Superuser binary and Superuser application.

flash the .tar extension siyah kernel meant for i9100 from Odin and it will root ur phone automatically and install Super user/supersu for u
Hello, my first post here. In february I modified my phone (swedish) and it has all been working ok up until yesterday. Well actually for the last couple of weeks the battery has started running hot and draining fast. But yesterday the sim disappeared and I can get no connection, it even gets stuck when I put it in flight mode.
So I figured I should update things in the best way, but how to go about it. I used guides to get it done last time but I have forgotten most of that and I would be very grateful for help to proceed. I need a stable system only, no clocking etc.

Dial *#06# to confirm.
Upgrade to ICS ROM/firmware first, then report if your problem still persists.

I flashed it and it is still connected to computer via usb. It keeps flashing the screen Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 (white text on black background) every few seconds and nothing else happens. Should I be worried?

Ok got it to work. I flashed it a second time and then the phone started updating and now it works.
So many thanks, only need to root it again I guess :laugh:

if ur rooting ur phone and trying to install a custom rom then there is no point in updating to the latest stock version
if u want to continue with stock, then its good to update it to the latest version
To clarify, I see a 4.0.4 for nordic countries at the same place where the 4.0.3 was. So would it be safe to upgrade it to 4.0.4 using Odin?Or is 4.0.4 a whole different matter? Cheers

no upgrading is not fullwipe, but in order to have stability u have to do a factory reset after upgrading
before doing factory reset u can backup ur phone with KIES
Dont upgrade to 4.0.4, until you aren't aware of emmc Superbrick Bug

You need Root access and CWM recovery access.

Backup your present ROM in the temporary CWM recovery after rooting.

You also need to download Gapps.

hard brick means, your device will become unfunctional. It's a simple disclaimer.
Technically, it shouldn't brick your device.
All you have to do is read and follow the instructions on the original post of that thread.

you dont need to backup the original stock kernel. you can download it anytime, just use the search function. i recommend flashing a matching stock rooted kernel for your firmware, then perform traingle away and then flash siyah from cwm.

OK, thanks for the good advice. I will definitely go that route since this is the first SGSII I've owned and you would know better than I do. Just for the record if I did it my way would it have bricked my phone?

After getting your galaxy s2,
First thing is to Post your firmware details here; Goto Settings - About phone, and post everything you see.
You might not need to flash any kernel at the end the day.

2. Flashing anything meant for GT I9100X including Siyah kernel will destroy your phone.

STOP! Dont flash your phone with siyah kernel. It will brick your phone. Right now Siyah works only for the International version.
