[Q] Which CWM should I be using for my Flyer? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Okay so my Flyer keeps booting to BSOD, and I'm wondering if I have the wrong CWM or something. Current HBOOT is 1.11.011, I have S-ON with the bootloader unlocked. I tried a few different ROMs and I used the One XXL ROM and it got to the Beats splash and just kept looping that. I tried wiping everything and installing again and now I just get BSOD. Anybody who considers themselves an expert in this situation would be greatly appreciated

That seems to be very touchy for me as well. I did get "LeeDroid" installed and working great, but the SIM notification is irritating so I was working on installing "FlyHigh". I'm new to the Flyer but have been rooting, repairing and a flash-aholic for several years now. What I figured out with trying to install ROMs in OUR situation is that you have to extract the boot.img and flash it via fastboot. From there, I THINK you need to use CWM 4.XX or whatever or at least thats what I've been reading. My problem is that now that I've figured this out, I'm on CWM 6.XX and have yet to find CWM 4.XX. Glad too see someone else with the same situation. If you come up with anything else, please let me know. I will do the same. Thanks!:good:

Did you wipe all the way? Also what is your software 2.17 or 2.08 ? Did you fastboot boot recovery.img when you flashed?

You need to flash boot.img/kernel using fastboot or Flash image GUI or else you will face issues if the ROM uses kernel other than your current one.
This is the limitation of HTC unlock method (S-ON)

Thank you!
I flashed the boot.img using fastboot as you suggested. Now the phone is stuck in an endless loop between powering off and the HTC startup logo.
It appears that I am getting closer to fixing the problem but I am still stuck. Can you help further please?
Thanks again!

Thanks for your reply.
I did wipe all the way. How do I tell whether I have 2.08 or 2.17. if the phone not able to start up?
I flashed boot.img using fastboot. I just realized that the bootloader when doing and Hboot tries to load the image indicates no image or wrong image.
I am either missing a step or did something wrong.
Please help!
did you make a backup of Infected before you flashed?
When you say you installed Warm did you install and actually get it fully booted and set up your home screens and all that and it only stuck on the first reboot after? or was it right after you flashed warm?
Really if you made a backup of infected or what you were running before you should be able to restore that via recovery then boot up normal. Then use FlashImageGUI to flash the kernel needed for Warm, then reboot into recovery mode and flash the other portion of the Rom from the custom recovery.
Unfortunately, I did not back up Infected or other previous roms. I didn't know that I should, I only backed up my apps using Titanium. I now know better.
Still stuck in loop mode. I have been searching the forums for some possible solutions but so far nothing has worked.
I am up the creek without a paddle...
kongfooey said:
I used Titanium Backup to back up apps etc. is that the same as backing up the rom (Infected)?
If I had the backup how do I recover using recovery? I have been reading other posts in the forum and have tried some of the suggestions. I wiped the data and cache.

na TiBackup isn't the same as backing up the Rom itself.
Full backups are done from within the custom recovery...
the boot.img you pushed via fastboot earlier. where did you get it from?
Silly me... I realized that Titanium backup was not the correct backup after I posted.
I took the image from the Warm zip file. I initially thought the problem was fixed until I realized that the phone is in an endless loop...
Still looping

well to be honest I would just go back and start form scratch at this point since pushing the kernel via fastboot somehow didn't take for you nor did clearing cache's after the fact.
after pushing the kernel via fastboot, have you tried doing that again, and then going into recovery and flashing the rom again? If that doesn't work you might as well just go back to stock and push stock kernel flash stock rooted OTA, boot up, and use FlashImageGUI to push the Warm kernel then go back to flashing the Warm rom in recovery...
really before pushing the stock kernel if you wanna test to see if your initial push of Warm kernel even took fully just fully wipe data and try flashing infected again in recovery. If it boots fine then you know your fastboot push didn't take before to begin with...
Edit:
before i even really get more into this. does Warm even use another kernel beside the stock one? If they dont then all of this could of resulted from a bad download of the rom itself being flashed...
Sgt. Slaughter, I salute you...
I played around with your suggestions. Got it working... I flashed a different boot.img and it solved the problem. I may have gotten a bad Warm rom...
Thanks again!!!
Note: if you took/installed the latest update (2.17.651.5) you won't be able to use roms based off earlier firmware/kernels (ie 2.08.651.2 or 651.3) b/c of kernel differences (I think I've read that somewhere).
I believe Warmtwopointthree and Infected are not using the latest base/kernel.
Edit: saw you posted right before me. So what kernel/boot.img did you use?

Nice good to hear. Fact you had your phone even semi-booting makes solving anything wrong with it usually trial and error and ends up not being so bad to fix...
I used boot.img from OTXE Titan HD ODEXed New Beats!
I need to educate myself a bit more about the differences between kernel and .imgs etc...
Thanks for your response. I greatly appreciate!!
I'm having a very similar issue, I rooted my Evo using Revolutionary and installed CW Recovery and everything was fine so I tried installing ZR3D and part way through the install, my phone turned off and now it wont get past the HTC boot screen. I went into CW Recovery but nothing is working, no matter what option I choose [even Turn off phone or reboot] it gives me the CW logo but nothing happens.
I have HBOOT 1.49.1107 with S-Off
Try reflashing your recovery threw hboot.

Can you boot into Fast boot? If so, try connecting your phone to a computer and flashing a recovery through there. Then try to install the ROM.

[Q] Bootloop that's not fixed by CDMA/LTE Auto Setting

Hey, I hope you guys can help me out.
I have a rezound here, that is bootlooping. It will stay booted into android for maybe 15 seconds then freezes, and reboots. I searched and saw a fix that involved changing the phone setting to CDMA/LTE evda Auto, and it was already apparently on that setting.
It wasn't letting me factory reset it, even from the bootloader menu. It would look like it was factory resetting, but then still not be factory reset. The only way I could get it to factory reset was by unlocking the bootloader through HTC DEV...but that didn't fix the issue. (Warranty was already void anyway because the void screw was tampered with)
What should I try next? I've flashed a rom on an evo 3d where I had to load a custom recovery through the bootloader, so I figured there was probably something similar on the rezound...but this has S-ON and revolutionary doesn't seem to available for rezound yet...and I don't think I could flash clockwork quick enough since it freezes after like 10-15 seconds.
Any input? I'd really like to get this phone working...thanks!
Once you unlock you should install Amon Ra recovery with fastboot. The thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339679
Well I flashed recovery via fastboot, and flashed CleanRom ICS (after loading the one zip file needed prior to flashing ICS Roms, and of course after backup and after wiping everything a few times) and its the same thing...gets into android and reboots after 10 seconds or so.

Just boot to bootloader and run the ruu for 2.11 from windows or figureout how to get the ph98img.zip of gingerbread or one of the leaks onto the root of the sdcard and flash that in the bootloader. If not s-off you should still be able to lock the bootloader using adb.
The reboots should NOT be affecting the bootloader or flash a backup from recovery. Just start fresh.

Run an RUU. EXE version is preferable.

[Q] Plese help, factory reset phone now have no OS and bootloader/recovery wont flash

please please help me, i have twrp installed i heard 2.4 was not flashing properly so reverted back to 1.1.1...I go into bootloader then boot my recovery.img. then when im in TWRP i try to flash one of my roms and its not allowing it, I think its because of the s-on again?? it still says unlocked at the top of bootloader but s-on instead of s-off now. I have no operating system now and cant think of a way to fix this. please anyone with any ideas or solutions help me, ive exhausted my ideas. I use my phone all the time, so any help would be greatly appreciated, i'd pay you for help if I could.

I dont know what Odin is. I have an HTC Evo 3d. Now my phone is not even turning on exactly like this guys: it wont let me post links yet but go to youtube and then search for: "Bricked HTC EVO 3D, not powering up, red light" and thats my current problem. am I just screwed?
sometimes i can get to bootloader but then s-on is still there so that seems like its preventing me from flashing roms.
What is Odin?
Thank you for the help.

Ok I got it to bootloader after removing the battery 50 times and putting it back in then doing the power/vol down. im in TWRP 2.4 because it lets me access my SD card. The problem i think is that when i did a full factory reset on my phone it turned s-on so my old roms are not working. so now im downloading the stock rom, going to put that in the roms folder and try to zip that sucker in, then do the s-off procedure again once I finally have an operating system again. I probably sound like a total noob but if anyone can offer advice or help along the line it would be appreciated. thank you
well I still cant install any ROMs. I cant do the s-off "wire trick" because apparently that requires an operating system. Will someone please help me out here. Why is it failing to install every ROM i have. I know i have the right stock ROMs. at the top of bootloader it says "Unlocked" and s-on, if that helps at all.. thanks for any help
sorry to keep posting but after reading the original root guide I used it turns out i never had S-off. So WHY cant I install any roms, every utility I use just says unable to install. I have tried multiple roms, and tried the one I had installed before, so I know for a fact that one is good. I have no operating system. the error message I keep getting has to do with md5 but I read thats not even a critical component. I tried extracting the boot.img from the rom, running that , then installing it. NO luck. Please someone with experience help. Or am I just screwed? Thanks for the help
bump, please help. why cant I flash a ROM, any rom, even ones I know work well because I have used them?
I fixed it, if anyone comes across this in the future. You have to have your bootloader RELOCKED to run a RUU. Maybe that is common knowledge but it sure evaded me. just fastboot oem lock then run the RUU and you are back to stock.
any one know how to fix QHSUSB_DLOAD caused after trying the s-off wire trick.

[SOLVED]I need help with ROM!

Hey, So i have a problem, I tried rooting my phone, and i guess i messed up somewhere, I lost my OS, and didn't create a backup because i'm stupid and didn't realize this could happen. I found a thread, relating to a similar problem, but a different phone so i relocked the phone with Hasoon's tool. Now i cannot find a proper RUU For my phone. I have an HTC One X+, Radio is 2.14.55.11, And the stock image is 1.20.661.1 or something. All i want now, is to return to stock. I've tried the RUU's from androidfiles . org/ruu/?developer=EvitaRE But no luck. It has some sort of error nearing the end. At the moment i can't find the error, as my phone is under %30, So after it reaches about 70, i'll try again and post the error. I'm getting pretty scared, as i'm new to this, and i don't want to lose my phone. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't really know what else to post, besides the radio, stock image file thing, and that it's the north american phone i guess, EvitaRE. The HBOOT is 1.40.0000 and it's stuck at the loading screen, 'HTC Quietly Brilliant'
Factory Reset's do not work, and push me back into the loading screen. It's in infinite boot, i guess, where i power the phone down and it just boots up again without me doing anything.
I dont know where i went wrong during the rooting process, as when Hasoon did it in his video tutorial, It worked out perfectly. but for me not so well, After flashing and unlocking bootloader etc, i clicked perm root, and i couldn't find the SuperUS or something, so i went to power the phone down into bootloader and it said i had no OS. I don't know what i did, and all i hope is that my phone can be somewhat revived so i can use it.
Thank you for reading, and any helpful information would be just appreciated.
~Cp
EDIT: Extremely sorry, but i have found other posts about this, but i can't seem to understand the fix, so if possible, please dumb it down for me! I'm extremely sorry for even attempting the rooting in the first place :S

What does your heart really want? Do you want to run custom ROMs and have root or not? It mostly sounds like you may want to return to stock due to lack of understanding and knowledge. That's okay if you want to do that. But kinda against the spirit of XDA!
Relock the bootloader and RUU will return the phone to stock and unrooted.
But it just sounds like you have mismatched firmware (results in long boot times with no boot animation, which some folks mistake for it not being booted).
Also, the newest TWRP require updated hboot, so that is probably the problem there.
If you want the phone rooted, and running a custom ROM: either run a ROM that corresponds with your firmware, or s-off and update your firmware.
What hboot and radio numbers? S-on or S-off?

Holy run-on sentence! Seriously, please take the time to type a proper response with punctuation. Making it easier to read, makes it easier for me to help you. And that is what you want, isn't it???
I don't use my personal email for this type of support. That is what these forums are for.
Skydragon is probably not "stuck" but rather taking an extremely long time to boot (10+ minutes) with no boot animation, which often leads folks to believe its stuck altogether. If you leave it alone, it will probably boot eventually, but you may also find that WiFi is broken. Both are symptoms of the wrong firmware for the ROM you flashed.
Your hboot number also indicates that you don't have the right firmware installed, as firmware includes hboot as well as radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and other modules.
On the AT&T variant, you will not have any "official" way to update the firmware to anything more up-to-date than 2.x firmware (hboot 3.17). You need 4.x firmware (hboot 3.19) to run the ROM you mentioned. Therefore you need s-off by sunshine (if not s-off already).
You can check s-on or s-off by booting into bootloader, and you will see it says one of the other near the top of the screen.
Alternately, if you don't s-off, you can flash a ROM that corresponds to your firmware. Try the following ROM, but putting the ROM zip on a removable SD card using a card reader connected to your computer (if you have those available). Then boot into recovery, navigate to the file and flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705640
Aside from that, you should really get your USB connectivity issue sorted out. You can't do much without it. Verify no response when you type fastboot devices when the phone is in fastboot mode. If it doesn't respond (should return device ID) then try a different USB cable, and different USB port. If on Windows, try going to Device Manager, finding the phone, and pick the option to manually select the drivers, than pick the USB MTP drivers (not the HTC ones). This will often fix adb/fastboot connectivity issues.
