Yup you can.. But while downgrading make sure you've flashed Gb kernel otherwise you'll receive bootloop... Restoring backup doesn't restore the kernel.

or if something doesnt work out for you, just reflash the rom without wiping...it will load the kernel on there for you...

There are UCKH7 and UCKK6 stock kernels floating around. No need to back them up, they're out there already.

[Q] Restoring Xperia Neo V back to original firmware?

Hi all,
I installed CM9 on my Xperia Neo V using the instructions on the wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Neo:_Full_Update_Guide. Now I'd like to go back to standard firmware in order to use HDMI out and other features.
I made a backup with CWM. Can I simply restore it with CWM? Will that restore the original kernel as well?
Or do I have to use flashtool to reflash the standard firmware? And if so, do I have to download one from here or can I look for the latest official version from the local Sony Ericsson site?
Thanks all. I searched and read a lot but I wanted to be sure before I go ahead.
Restore ur nandroid backup, or flash official firmware ftf file through flashtool... Download ftf from XDA forums..
i think it is better if u can flash the official frameware using flashtool...
Thanks, I'll do that. That won't relock the bootloader though now - will it? So if I want to go back to a custom ROM it should be easily done with fastboot?
Thanks again for the replies.

No, that won't relock the bootloader though.. Flashing firmware just makes your phone go back to the official stock ROM..
And if you want to go back to a custom ROM, then flash the appropriate kernel through fastboot and then install the ROM via CWM!

Hi, same question here. However, I only have the backup made in CWM at hand and it is quite urgent. It is of a fresh install of the original ROM. Will that do? Which settings should I choose to restore, what should I wipe etc.? Happy about any hints.

You don't need to do anything extra when restoring the backup, just go into recovery.. Backup and Restore and then restore your backup..
No wipes are to be made since it will restore your device to the point of your backup, in your case your original ROM..
Keep in mind that if there's a custom kernel right now, it won't restore the stock kernel.. Just the ROM

Great, thanks for the information. So to also revert to stock kernel do you by any chance know where I can find it? And should I flash it (with CWM?) before or after restoring the nandroid backup?
EDIT: I found MT11i_4.1.B.0.431. That still leaves the question about the correct sequence.

Since you're restoring the stock ROM, custom kernel won't do any harm..
But if you want to revert to stock kernel then they should be in the General or Development section (I am sorry I can't point out exactly where since I don't own this phone anymore)
And yes, stock kernel that you'll find in the threads would be of ftf format that can be flashed only with the help of flashtool..
Kindly read the instructions of how to use flashtool if you're unaware of this!

Okay, good to know!
Just lock your bootloader. Then flash stock firmware (.ftf) file via Flashtool.
I don't recommend CWM restore.

It's false what you're saying!

Afaik... Yes.
Since cwm backup is just a mirror of the present rom(system + data + boot). Restoring it over any fw/rom will revert your device back to the previous state.
In my x10i I used miui. I didn't like the interface so I restored the xrecovery image of WolfBreak rom... MIUI DISAPPEARED and LAST ROM REAPPEARED...

Full stock? Unrooted and so on? I recommend go back with something like NottachTrix. Just download it and flash.
Take care: if you try going back to stock and you have unlocked booloader you can get bricked.
Is it safe to restore the stock rom from the nandroid backup wich i made before flashing with the custom rom??

Hi! I am trying to do the same, but I don't have that backup. I only have the original att sbf that I downloaded from other posts.
My atrix is unlock so I cannot longer do that?
I did my back up with titanium back up tool, but I guest that is not going to be useful.
So my current options are to stay with this room or change to another one?
Thank you!

[Q] [U] How to backup my Rooted Kernel?

As my XU has been rooted and unlocked, I would like to give CM9 a try
But I guess I have to flash a new kernel during the process and I think it is better for me to backup my kernel.
I know that CWM could backup my stock ROM but is it including my kernel?
I just don't want to restore my phone using US method and root my phone again
No need to backup ur kernel
U can get it from a ftf file
