Hi
I have this problem with cyanogenmod 9 and miui 4 (based on cm9)
I only need the phone to be in 2G mode, but everytime i select "only 2G" under settings - after an hour or two it siwtches back to 3G - and it's annoying as hell. Please tell me how to force the phone to work in 2G.
Thanks
pars iolegar
Go to network preferences and select "GSM only" and then enable "Use only 2G networks".
I know there was an option for GSM Only - now I can't find it.
The only option available is "Use 2G Only" witch switches off automaticly...
Help...
Settings->More->Mobile Networks-> NetworkMode-> Select GSM or WCDMA (instead of WCDMA preferred GSM

It doesn't have network mode in the list.
choose gsm only in the network mode. You can also use extended controls and have a widget to switch between edge and 3g

Sent using a touch screen

Tried airplane mode on off and data connection on off or manually adding APN settings back but after I hit save go back to empty apn list

used phone info to force 3g mode in a weak 4g area. I seem to be unable to change back to global mode in network settings.

You should be able to change it using Settings->More Settings->Mobile networks->Network Mode
I think there is a bug in Beans 10 that this menu is not present. The change log says its fixed in Beans 11. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032447

Has anyone else encountered a problem using the T-Mobile My Account app while connected to Wi-Fi? If I go into the app and tap on "Account Info", this is the screen I get. Any thoughts?

yep i get that too, turning off my wifi and exclusively using data connection works
I fixed it. Go into Settings - More Networks - Access Point Names. Create a new one called "T-Mobile", then use all the same settings as the default APN (the one called T-Mobile US LTE) , except change APN Protocol from "IPV6" to "IPV4/IPV6". Save it, then select it as the active APN, and reboot. At that point, My Account will work over wifi.

That fixed worked for me, thanks!
Also, just as a point of interest, I called T-Mobile about this yesterday, and they are aware of the limitation. They claim that it's deliberate, because "connecting from their network is more secure" or something like that. They said that they're working on a new version of the app which will allow connectivity over wifi, too, but this works for me

You better find out what is 5G.
I don't know if it's a troll or not but i will try to give an explanation anyway. When you aren't using wifi and you need to connect to internet you use a wireless connection that connects you to a signal tower, usually owned by your phone operator. This is called "data connection" on your phone, and it depends on your operator and it usually has a limited amount of gigabytes. When you are using "5G" you are using the latest iteration of this technology, is faster than 4g and 3g but the concept it's the same, you use it to connect to internet.
When you use wifi, you simply don't need it, because the connection to internet is given by your router.
That's why the icon disappears, when you use one, you don't need the other and viceversa.
sorry for my mistak.
