Not just Devs. Users with slow internet connection will be thankful as well. Benefits both sides

While I can appreciate your intent, please refrain from creating threads that link to other threads. Creating a thread to discuss another thread is redundant, and creates clutter.

+1 for mods. less traffic on this forum means less to moderate, means less work for mods.
here comes the ban..

yep yep, the douche is why teamwin released their exploit on the other site instead of here. maybe he will eat a slice of humble pie and settle the **** down.
So you when you come into this subforum trying to find news about the quest for 3D root, you don't mind reading through a ton of responses that have nothing really to do with helping gain root? I've been following that thread for days, waiting for some positive news so I could pull the trigger on a 3D, and not only was it annoying sifting through a bunch of non-responses, there were tons of warnings to stay on-topic. Yeah, the mod reaction was heavy-handed, but also blame the dumdums who continued polluting the thread with nonsense.
I know this response doesn't fall in line with people thinking message boards should be pure anarchy, but I come here, the development forum specifically, looking for information.
censorship isnt the way
most of the dumb questions are from people who don't know any better.
all the people who feel they can berate these members and fill up the threads with constant *****ing DO know better and should be held accountable.
mods should quietly delete useless posts, move and combine threads without being hostile towards members. blatant or continual violations should result in a temp ban but not as a public warning to others.

The people asking dumb questions were warned, over and over and over. It doesn't take much brains to know if your question has anything to do with helping gain root. That thread was about one thing -- gaining root. Now if root had been achieved, and people had questions on how to do it themselves, then let the dumb questions begin, everyone is here to help. But that thread was trying to get to root in the first place, and not the place for questions, only suggestions.
I think the bans were over-the-top, but I don't think closing the thread was.
pointless thread moved to general and closed. @op don't do this or we will consider this spamming our boards. (You will get a vacation for this.)

[FAQ]Moderator needs to reconsider.

Hi Moderator,
Don't take me otherwise. While I am surfing this forum, I can see hell lots of stupid things floating around. Some Rom threads are filing with stupid personal arguments. Lots of threads need to be close as thread's purpose has resolved. If you want I can point it out for you. we know you are doing your job and believe me you are good at it. What I request you is do some initiative to avoid these silly stuffs.
Senior Members,
it's kinda hard to maintain a forum for anyone. As our device a budget phone yet powerful, so we are having hell lots of user and their queries. So
Urge you please give some suggestions so that we can avoid spaming, can also be beneficial for new and senior members.
Aside to new users,
Guys keep your queries thread specific.
Thank you

+1 man. There should be an all in one frequent asked question sticky thread. Most users of the O1 are first time rooters so I don't blame them as much because I had my share of questions.

If the devs could moderate at least their own threads, it would be a different story altogether. Those ROM/kernel threads could be shrinked 80% in size and only useful stuff left.
(Still would not solve the useless junk elsewhere but one could ignore it.)
Dear moderator, could you kindly go through the major development threads (current ROMs, franco kernel) and wipe all the bloody noise outta there.
I will not use a report post function because about every second post is off-topic n00b crap that plain does not belong there, so your PM inbox would get full soon. Not to mention that apparently noone cares about the crippled "report post" function that was discussed in xda-general.
This forum is becoming seriously harmed by useless noise. Some action, please!!!

IMPORTANT: EVERYBODY PLEASE READ!

I've been seeing an increasing number of ICS threads in the general section. We already have an " Everything ICS" thread in the sticky section.
PLEASE DO NOT CREATE ICS THREADS IN THE GENERAL SECTION!
From this point forward, any ICS threads I find will be deleted without notice. Repeat offenders will receive a warning, or infraction, depending on your post history.
Also, ALL question/help related threads belong in the Q&A section only. Any question/help related threads found outside of the Q&A section, will be deleted. I encourage new members to take a few minutes to read the rules. Repeat offenders will receive a warning, or possibly an infraction, depending on your post history.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Have fun, and enjoy the forums.
Thank you.

I've been your Moderator for a little over a month now, and wanted to get some feedback from everyone.
How do you all think I'm doing?
Do you all have any suggestions for me?
I'm here for you guys, so if there is something you notice, or something you need, don't hesitate to ask.
My ultimate goal as your Moderator, is to get this forum in tip top shape. This is a community effort, and everyone's input is important. Let's work together to get the Amaze forums where I know they can be.
I look forward to your feedback.

Hmm, I'd agree with everything everyone has said.. the only other feedback I'd say was in regards to an issues thread you closed. Yes, there are still too many ics threads(it was older than the "everything ics thread"), but overtime hopefully some will be useful. The everything ics thread will eventually become too hard to search, so threads that serve specific purposes rather than be grouped up in an "everything" thread will potentially help keep things organized..
You've been incredibly patient, and you inherited a forum that has a sorta ugly past.. but you've done pretty much more than I could have expected. Keep up the good work, I'm glad we have you.

Thank you, SBD. I like your idea about creating a simplified ICS thread. I agree with you about the "everything ICS" Thread. Lengthy threads can be intimidating to new users. Feel free to create a noob guide to ICS in the general section. Thanks for your input.

You're a moderator? I know us Amaze users are a "different" crowd. Thanks for your efforts on keeping the Amaze Thread as clean as possible. I sometimes don't get a chance to see the flame wars amongst my fellow peers because your ass gets to it first.....damn it!!!! Lol
Thanks for your time, effort, fairness and for not being biased to certain developers. Keep that nose clean.

[Q] A simple, "How do I?"

Hey forum,
First off I'd like to say, I have done quite a bit of searching on this and either get caught up in endless pages of crap I don't fully understand or I just can't find the answer. My apologies if this issue is simple and out there.
With that said, I'm definitely a noob at all the rooting and ROMs for phones. I've spent 20 years using cell phones as.. well, phones! Had no idea the world that was waiting for me and the time consuming hours of research and trial and error.
So I got the Amaze and first off, wanted to root it so I used CWM which is currently running. I then get an update notification for ICS but every time I try to install it, I'm stuck at a green X logo.
Is there a way to install ICS with CWM already on my phone or do I need to remove it first? I have searched for both answers which is why I finally set up an account and created this thread.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hey thanks for your incredibly condescending reply! I see by your "thanks" meter you obviously have no idea how to provide value to others, especially newcomers.
use hasoons toolkit to flash the stock recovery back onto your phone, then if the boot loader is unlocked go and relock it. then after those 2 things are done, attempt to upgrade to ics.
after you upgrade to ics you can root and unlock it again.
Please keep all question related threads in the Q&A section only. Thank You.

The other person wasn't a Moderator. So yeah, I had to tell you. No worries though. Rush is my favorite. I've been drumming and following Neil Peart since the 80's. Great stuff man. Glad to meet a fellow Rush fan.

PS: In the future, if you mis-post for some reason, I can move the thread, as creating duplicate threads is against the rules.
