[Q] app porting... - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

guys I wanna port the music app from stock ICS 4.0.4 to CM10 and i failed doing that can anybody help me?

I think music app in stock ICS needs Samsung frameworks to work, and CM10 hasn't these frameworks. Not only music app, other stock apps don't work in AOSP based roms. (Samsung Apps, Radio, ...) If only some one know which Samsung framework files needed, and make a flashable package, we may use stock apps in other AOSP roms

Cyanogen 4.0.3 Samsumg Apps

I have flashed cyanogen mod 9 on my sgs2. I love the rom. I know it's a weird question, but does anyone know where or how to install both samsung app store and samsung music hub? Are the apk's available from anywhere?
You can't on cm9, install the samsung ics rom if you want samsung apps.
Thank you for the info. Sacrificing those two things is well worth having cm9. I was thinking it was as simple as installing the apks - I assume it needs samsung framework to run

Original Android (4.0.3) / AOSP apps (SGS2)

I'm having some success with the latest LP6 samsung leaked ICS rom
I'm interested in looking at the stock message, contacts, music, gallery etc app to see how they compare to samsung's variants.
I'm rooted -- other than find a rom with them already included, where would I find these apps?
Any problems with having both installed concurrently? (say samsung contacts and stock contacts).?
As far as I know, its not as easy as just copying the apks over, if you want to try out AOSP, your best bet is to try CM9 (but remember its alpha/beta quality).
Ah yes, that makes sense. Thanks
may try CM9 when more stable.for now the leaked rooms are improving quickly
People have been successful with porting aosp apps to Samsung roms, I just can't find anybody willing to share the info on how to do it.

Install stock ics apps on stock samsung ics?

I hate touchwiz, i find it so damn ugly, ics looks so much better to me but samsung never releases their propietary drivers and we're stuck with half working aosp roms, so the only solution i can come up with is use the stock samsung ics firmware but get rid of their apps ( gallery, dialer, samsung apps, email client, read hub... ) and then install on top the stock ics apps, is it possible or will i break something?
try westscrips ressurection rom. Works perfect.

[Q] Install Stock ICS gapps on Samsung ROM (XXLPJ))

Hi,
I have put the latest ICS leak on my SGS2 which funny enough I find better and more stable than the official XXLPQ.
The only things I miss are the stock ICS apps such as the ICS calendar, stock Email for Exchange, stock dialer/people apps etc ... but I also kind of like Touchwizz launcher and would like to keep it.
I have downloaded the latest gapps but is it safe to flash these over a Samsung ROM and would it bring the stock ICS apps that I am after?
I have searched on the forum and found few threads about stock apps but not really what I am after.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Anyone can help for this?
I am trying to get the Email app from the CM9 ROM installed onto my LP3 stock Samsung ICS.
I have tried to copy Email.apk and Exchange.apk to /system/app but that doesn't work, the app is not visible under settings/applications...
I would love to get the stock ICS apps (sms, contacts, email, agenda) on the Samsung ROM (LP3) which I find very stable
