Hey guys.I'm running cyanogen mod 9 on my samsung galaxy s plus and I don't really like some stuff like the file manager.I have downloaded a gb backup of samsung's stock file manager but whenever I try to install it I get the error"app not installed".I have tried to put it ino system/app and reboot my phone. It is there but still I can't install or use it.Any idea how to fix this?I don't really want to reflash the gapps..Thanks.
are you serious..nobody?
Gapps has no file manager.
After copying the apk to /system/app, reboot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik and reboot.
However this may not work if the app need some other files or is not compatible with you current ROM.
Better still, download a file manager from Play store.

I'm running cm7 on my vibrant.
I installed the update 31 and used cwm
I checked to install Google apps. But everything but the market installed..
Tried another 2 times, still didn't install.
Can someone send me everything I need for the market? (Besides just the .Apk)
Anyone kind enough to do this for me?

First use a file manager and check /system/app for vending or other market app files and delete them.
Go to settings, applications, manage, all.....look for market and vending, delete them if they are there.
Reboot, then redownload the google apps.
Go into recovery, wipe data/factory reset.
Flash google apps package again. Fix permissions, reboot again.
Latest google apps......

if that doesnt work reflash cm7 or go back to stock with odn and then reflash cm7
K thanks guys

Hello there.
I recived a brand new ViewPad 7e (the lowcost tab from ViewSonic) yesterday. Everything works fine (or, almost fine for that price...), but the 7e come without AndroidMarkets (nor Gmail apps, Google Account etc...). It's possible to use alternat market, but I'm looking to use the original one (and, most important, to set up a google account synchronysed with calendar) anyone got an idea to install that ? (I tried some trick for Archos etc... but nothing seems to work atm).
If somone got an idea... thanks in advance
My guess would be that it's missing the gapps framework, you can try installing the architecture independant gapps package from CM7, which "should" work.

Well, it worked by installing the gapps manually, the last point will be to put the market 3.1.3 or so (for the moment I only have th old one), thx again for your help.
Where can I find how to install gapps manually
you said it's possible, where can I find the steps to install it manually?
Thanks

Hi, I also get a Viewpad 7e, and download the Google Apps from CM7
But I could not install in manually after I unpack the Google Apps package.
System will say it is an invalid APK.
Could you help to release the package you install and installing steps?
Thanks.

I have the same problem : "System will say it is an invalid APK".
Could you explain what you think we are doing wrong ?
Thanks
Guys, cm7 market would not work for our devices as it doesnot meet the criteria for having google market. Yes is ironic but for now we have to rely on the market we have. We have to wait till someone make cm7 work forr our viewpad.
there's a way but i need to translate it because its in chinese i got it it on mine
charlies1112, if you can, it would be really nice to explain how you did it.
Yesterday, I was able to root the viewpad 7e using Gingerbreak v1.20.
Thank you in advance
instructions for getting android market on the viewpad 7e
go download this file from this link:
dl.dropbox.com/u/34743606/v7e.zip
put those five files onto the micro sd card
Step 1:
settings>applications>unknown sources>tick it
settings>applications>development> USB debugging> tick it
Step 2:
Go to the inbuilt app ES File Explorer
find the GingerBreakv1.20.apk
install the GingerBreakv1.20.apk (I installed it on mine but it made my micro sd card useless i dunno what was with this but it still got gingerbreak on it it just made card die so use at your own risk =_= it still install it fine tho might of been a defect of a cheap card)
Root the device by going through the steps
When you complete the steps you should see Superuser in your applications
Go back to ES File Explorer
Find Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Install Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Click allow for permissions for the Root Explorer
Once you have Root explorer installed open it and fine the folder sd card
Press and hold the Vending.apk until the menu pops up and choose copy
go back to Root Explorer
go to system
go into app
on the top press Mount R/W
and then press the paste button on the bottom
Find where you pasted Vending.apk
Hold Vending.apk for the menu and press permissions
Make sure all the columns are ticked and select OK
once you get to this step you should see the market icon but you're not done yet you need to go through the same thing you did for Vending.apk for GoogleServicesFramework.apk and MarketUpdater.apk
and you should get it i'll paste the chinese website the author posted pictures

I flashed the official nightly build of CyanogenMod on my Samsung Galaxy Ace.
The root explorer just closes when I try to open it. So I removed it, and installed it via an apk, same issue.
And when I download it from the market, it says it's "Purchased", but when I try to download it, it gives me a 403 error. Please help. Thank you.
You know I have the same problem with the market saying I purchased it and giving me that error. I wouldn't know why its not opening on your phone tho.

Try wiping market cache and downloading again.
The file explorer in stock Cyanogen mod could do most things that root explorer could...by the way...you bought root explorer?impossible cause you said you were using an apk...google play now displays paid apps installed via apk as purchased...but won't let you download...

The FE does not give you root access, that's why RE comes in place.
But I prefer ES File.
Yeah, I think I'll just let it be since ES File Explorer does that, too.
Long story short, i have had the Droid razr for about a month and as soon I got the device, I flashed over the Black Widow ICS rom. Everything worked fine and smoothly but then a noticed a problem and hopefully you guys can help me.
There are updates for various Google Apps (Gapps) that i installed when flashing over the ROM. If I look at my apps within the Google Market as a whole, under the Installed tab, nothing needs updating. But for instance, if i click on Gmail, theres a update for it.
So first i was like cool, Ill try to download it. Downloads fine when it tries to Update, it says " Error - Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again" I understand what the error code means so I think to myself, "ok ill just delete the app and download using the Market."
Go to Manage Apps, and all i can do is Disable the so-called app but i cant uninstall it. So i thought, "ok ill try to uninstall it through the Google Market. Nope, the only two options are UPDATE and OPEN.
So i need you help. Should i download a newer version of GAPPS or is there a easier way to uninstall so i can just re-download it again.
Thanks EHB
Use a root browser (like es file explorer) make sure the /system is accessible and root enabled.
Go to /system/apps and delete the .apk for it
Same thing happened to me with the Arctic rom, maps wouldn't update, so i just got maps from the market after deleting it

Use Root Explorer as then 2 apps above is not powerful enough to delete the system file. Be sure you are on R/W mode, you can check on the upper right part of Root Explorer. That should do the trick.
You said you flashed a new Rom, which means you know how to use recovery. From the text it shows when you install a GApps package, it deletes the old files before adding the new ones. Now, I haven't actually looked at the install code but I wouldn't imagine Cyanogen or whomever the builder of that package is, would lie about something that thousands of people use?
Anyways, just try flashing a new GApps package. A few of the ones I have flashed have had Gmail included while others have not.

I installed CyanogenMod 12.1 to my galaxy S2(GT-I9100) along with gapps. (Later I tried the same with different gapps too) and everything went good, I successfully installed both zip from CWM 6.0.4.x.
But after I switch on my phone, after all initial steps, I noticed Google Play app is missing, all other gapps are present.
I have used same gapps file for installing in Galaxy note (GT-N7000) along with CyanogenMod 12.1 and Google play store is present
This is first time I'm facing these kind of issue with CyanogenMod installation.
Anybody can help on this issue?

If the package doesn't install, you cannot move it into system/app, i think that the gapps package is broken, try to download it again
