[Q] looking for app. Activate 2nd core option. - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

See title. I remember someone talking about it. Also, I remember seeing it the market but don't remember how I found it and can't duplicate the search.

well ro be honest with you. the second core is always enabled until the phone goes into sleep. from sleep mode, the kernel disables the second core. unless toy want the phon to run 1 core and then toggle the second core on demand?

System Tuner has an option to force all CPU's online, but that may only happen at boot, and not keep them online.

possible hijacked this application? for use on atrix? : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10095647&postcount=22

System tuner will force both cores online. It can be set at boot or via init d. It will make your phone run hotter and increase battery drain. I didn't see enough of a performance increase to justify forcing both cores online. Logs show the second core kicking in when necessary.

System Tuner

Anyone uses this app yet. It was recommend by Clemsyn on XDA as a better alternative to setcpu. I download the free version in the market, but the UI is a bit confusing. Seems like a little better optimization available.

I saw his recommendation and downloaded the free version. I its a little overwhelming as i'm still noobish, but it seems to have a larger breadth of options than set cpu. As far as its relative reliability, i'm not sure. There is no "apply" button for uv steps tho, so an unintentional finger slip can cause your phone to freeze! just try it out, see if you like it I guess

Im gonna mess around with it tonight and see if I like it. It seems like it will take a little getting use to though lol.

I have been using this ever since it came out it replaces a lot of apps out there and the CPU tuner is compatible with dual core phones and utilizes them completely. It has an app manager, auto starts, frequency controls, sd booster and many more uses. I for one think it is one of the best apps I have in my root arsenal .

I was using this for a little and noticed something weird im running the v6 supercharger scripts and in my memory settings the last mem setting would change from 275mb to 256mb. I tried everything so that it wouldnt mess with my supercharger scripts but no go. I unistalled it and everything has been back to normal. Anyone else notice this?

I believe this is the only option for memory, but could also be very wrong! :-0

I bought the Pro version and am liking it better than SetCPU now that I have got used to it and have everything set up. I would like to see live update on the widget when the screen is on though. Lowest setting is 10 seconds.

CPU Temp

Is there an app to view the Real CPU temp on the Note, and not from the batt sensor? I contacted System Tuner devs to find out why the their app does not show CPU temp, and here is the response.
" This means the CPU temperature is* not available on your phone or it's notsupported by the app. Note however that many* apps on Market pretends toprovide CPU temperature while they only provide battery temperature! If you want to check if your phone has such information available, you cansearch the content of the /sys folders and all its subfolders for a filecontaining 'temp' in its name. Note you should use an automated tool forthat, such as EStrong File Explorer."

Try Temp+CPU app. I have pro version, and this allows me set update interval to as low as 1 second.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

I tried the above app, and still no CPU temp reading. I do get batt temp reading(on every app I've tried). I have been reading and come to find out the Note may not have the CPU temp sensor. Can anyone confirm?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
It works perfectly on mine. Its a widget though. Configure it to show reading too, in F or C, whatever you want.
Yes I tried and it shows a static -1c on mine. I wonder if it's kernel related? I read up on the issue and some say it needs to be activated at the kernel level or that the CPU temp diode is just not there.
I'm going to flash a stock kernel and test.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
For me, it worked on stock, on Saurom, and on the latest Solaris prime, with all the kernels they bundled in.
I hope it's not a hardware issue with my note. I'm going to flash a different ROM, and test again.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Ok to test out I just bought the Temp+CPU app on my Infuse as well, and it doesn't show CPU temp either. Both phones show 31°F for CPU temp. Now in widget options when changing both phones to battery temp they work fine.

Iirc both the note and the HP touchpad share similar if not the same processor...and the touchpad also doesn't show the temp. If it gets too hot it will just lock up and reboot. But its never gotten hot w/ overclocking

I didn't never find the reason.. but when I changed roms couple times it started to run at lower frequencies. It could be too newer android what solved problem.

Need kernel help with Infection 2.9.1

I'm on Infection 2.9.1 and I also flashed the latest Hiro kernel. I downloaded Trickster MOD to change settings. I'm getting a lot of reboots but I'm also trying to save as much battery as possible. I have no idea what settings to mess with and what to change them too. My phone settings had a Performance settings where you can change CPU settings and I also have Trickster like I said, just don't know which to use. I think both are on which might be causing problems? I posted some screenshots, could some please help me get something going? - Thanks guys!

If your using a kernel app like trickster mod than make sure everything that says set on boot under system\performance is unchecked

OK I got that part but what settings should I use? I'm not good with kernels and these apps, changing voltages, etc. My phone has been overheating and boot looping a lot. I also want to get best battery life possible. I just don't know what settings to use. Also if I'm using trickster to tweak my CPU shouldn't the performance in my phone settings be shut off? I'm open to using another tuner app.

Make the sleep frequency be 384 (whatever the 300 MHz is) been running that way since launch of 2.9.1, no issues, besides the native tether (only buggy issue I use) and whatever else others reported, I assume. Never used the features that this report so I don't know.

There is an option in kernel tuner for it. Some kernels do not support changing that setting though.
Now that he released it, this is what I used on infection the past week when 2.9.1 came out. It works amazingly. On install it gives you options for sleep 2 wake and screen off frequency (I set mine to on and 384 with no adverse issues)

So this kernel will replace Hiro which I'm using now?
And you keep saying to change sleep freq to 384? I'm guessing that will fix my wake issues. What about fixing my battery life and boot loops?
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
Can anyone else chime in? This is what I'm trying to accomplish.
1. Fix boot loops
2. Stop the over heating
3. Make battery last as long as possible
4. Fix the wake up issues. When I press power button to wake phone the capacitive buttons turn on but the screen doesn't.
These are the issues that I'm trying to fix. Like I said I'm currently on infection 2.9.1 using lastest hiro kernel. I need some helping finding the right kernel to use and what settings to use with kernel tuner or trickster mod app doesn't matter.
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
That kernel will replace hiro. You can set screen off freq upon flashing in recovery. The below pictures is my current settings for the past week and only had one freeze (it was testing something out for the kernel before released). In the picture, screen off and idle freq are disabled as you change settings when flashing the kernel. (During install, aroma will ask if you want to do default or custom install, custom for more options.) Pictures are in thumb format so less space is used in the forum. You can change second core to something else. Lionheart is a performance based governor. I use it on second core with mpdecision having a longer wait to turn on core 1 for my personal optimal battery saving/performance. Core 0 is set for power save bias so only when I need speed, core 1 will kick on with some higher MHz while CPU 0 catches up a little later.
Battery savings isn't too great, but unless you are doing some CPU intensive stuff, it does pretty well on battery.
This is CPU times today... Mind you, I used my phone for a total of 4hrs from 530-1640. The reason it stayed at 192 a lot was because I just did texting, web browsing and some other low CPU intensive tasks so far today (about 20-30mins of awake time in 192 was screen off streaming a local radio station.) Ran buttery smooth though.

Task managers, mobile cleaners and the like....?

I would like to know what your thoughts are on usage of these apps, do they work?
I have personally used,
Greenify
Es task manager
Du battery saver and there cleaner app
But I have read they use more ram then they free up etc..
Also xcore, and core2 management. (these shut down one core on dual core devices) Do these save battery or not? Surely since these phones are generally optimized for dual core processors, closing one causes the remaining core to work twice as hard and wont save any?
Are any if these applications worth having?

Since few weeks I'm using greenify, but can't see any difference.
However since the beginning of my android adventure I'm using advanced task killer, set it to aggressive mode. This does the job pretty good (specially the older versions).
I'll have to try those core disabling apps.

Ok strange, I thought it was because the s4 was quad core but just checked and the zoomis dual core.
How do you know it doesn't work? I checked via cpustats app (free in the app store) it shows when I use xcore or core2 manager that one of the cores are off line.
You could try xcore?

Basically we prefer to use the cloud based solutions in our office so that the all the data base is being stored in the remote location server in the cloud based platform with extremely high level of security which manage the sorting of tasks and managing the same as well. Du battery saver is useless app. Basically all these battery saving apps do things which you can do from Status Bar. (Like switch off Wi-Fi, Data, B/T etc).
Greenify is good app to freeze apps, but shows effect only if you freeze large number of apps.
But xcore, core2 and CPU Controlling apps are best. They give major battery boost.
I don't have dual core, but if I underclock my phone's CPU I get battery boost of 2-3 days.

I don't know about interactivex. I own a single core phone.
But disabling 2nd core definately gives battery boost.
I have tested it on my Laptop. Disabling 2nd core gives lot of battery boost (and a bit of lag).
