Root Questions - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Having given up on an update to ICS for my SI number and the possibility of a new phone soon, im more inclined to root my phone to then delete all the bloatware off it.
If i root my device, and then the ICS update comes along, i can still update as normal with no issues correct?
Also, where is the best guide on how to root please?
Cheers,
J.

You can just download and flash .ftf files from the development section to have ics on your phone.
To answer your question, as long as your bootloader is locked, you can use update normally one official hits your phone.

I did search but between being in full time work and sorting out a household i don't have enough time to search for hours to trawl through threads finding answers when i could just ask a quick question mate.
I did see the general chat thread as well, just felt a separate thread was a better place to ask.
@ muryatik - Thanks for the replay mate, so if i flash ICS, i understand that it's then easier to root, (as i won't have to downgrade to the lower version of gingerbread) but if a further update is released, will my phone still update if the bootloader is locked?

i can't update my unit via pc companion because is unlocked, so i need to re-lock now i know ajehe
sir thank you
Your Phone is rooted :S
You have a rooted phone, done through offcial sony bootloader unlock website, because of this sony knows, ur imei and thus if you will try to install official updates from companion, it will show you a error, and so i suggest you to download the latest 4.0.3 from other sources and flash it on ur phone using CWM!

[Q][GSM] Newest Leak?!

Hi,
i've read the other threads of the ICS leaks around here...
But i'm quite not sure, so please tell me:
what's the newest leak out now?
how to upgrade from other ICS leak? (672.152.27.XT910.RETAIL.EU)
is there any possibility to keep it rooted?
i know, anywhere in this forum will be an answer to every of that questions, but i don't think i'm the only one who doesn't find it / is not sure about this informations.
So maybe someone could post it here? Just short but/and understandable with links?
This would be great

Well,
theresn't such information in the way you want, but you can start from page five on the thread I posted before.
It's the latest leak link and following issues/rooting/updating.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621014&highlight=%28gsm%29+all+about&page=5
I had stop recommending this leak since many bricked their phones trying to use it.
I'm waiting for the official build to upgrade mine. I'm stock GB 2.3.6 now. This may be helpfull in a near future.
In fact, there was a topic "(GSM) All about ICS leaks" but itsn't in forum anymore. Couldn't find it.
Hope you figure out, following the thread I pointed and make a nice tutorial when you done.
Cheers
Edit: There's also this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688241&highlight=672+180+17
It seems to be more specific.

few questions about xperia U

Not sure where to place this thread, considering that there's just a xperia S questions forum and not for the U.
Back to subject I'd like to ask some questions:
how can i debrand the xperia U?
How to root it?
I'm asking this cause i've been unable to locate any other thread about it, and any help would be helpful.
thanks

did you read what i post? seriously I don't like ppl who always say "use the search forum", if a person can't find something it's bcause the search criterias are different from the ones stored on the database.
Well i dont know about debranding but rooting can only be done with unlocked bootloader and custom kernel.
You will be able to find tutorial thru search

He wasn't rude, he was just trying to tell that you didn't give as much info as it was needed.
About your problem, download flashtool and download .ftf (I suggest Nordic region) and flash it. Everything can be found in dev sections, or in sticky thread in general section.

Flash it with correct firmware, get the fw's from sticky thread in general section.
btw. edit thread title to reflect your problem, as current one is so generic that it can be used on 90% threads here

What is the filename of the file you are flashing to your phone?
Did flashtool reported any error or everything went well with flashing?
---------- Post added at 09:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 AM ----------
Why are you sending PM's, we have forum, there are smarter people here and will solve your problem faster if more of us discuss about it.
First you said that you have problems with keyboard, then you said you followed this instructions: http://theunlockr.com/2012/10/08/how-to-root-the-sony-ericsson-xperia-neo-mt15i/
On those instructions I only see how to root your phone, which includes flashing MT11i kernel.
Now hear this. If you said all this info before, you would get your solution by now.
Flashing MT11i kernel on MT15i gives that error. And I would have told you that if you gave all the info you have. And no need to go around the web for instructions, everything you need is here, if you had checked this (sticky) thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690 you would noticed that flashing only kernel cause errors.
For start flash your phone with correct fw, to solve your initial question, then go on next exhibitions
And please use forum, it will be faster
nah sorry for all the issues and problems im done forget this thread please and delete my account im not doing this.time for a new phone.peace
