Hi!
Is this a custom rom or a program to root locked bootloader?I am interested in rooting my xperia u with locked bootloader in order to change my customization number and flash the phone with arabic firmware from se update. Thanks!
When the U ICS update rolls out next week - is it expected we can use the "Root Many Android" method to obtain root without unlocking the bootloader?

yes, you are on GB,
see the instructions under GB for root,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U
try this also
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063029
though rooting ICS can be achieved on locked bootloaders where on GB you may need to unlock it !
update to ICS and root, is what i suggest.

1) there is a relocking bootloader. Tft file which relocks your bootloader only { DRM KEYS WONT RETURN}which will help you to bypass Sonys altered software error while updating it through SEUS or PC Companion n you can update your device without any problem to latest firmware....
2) No performance change is noticed rather the performance wil increase if you using custom roms...
3)it works only for Xperia 2011 device

Hi for now, there are no known ways of rooting the locked Sola bootloader.
There are successful methods for this on ICS but not gingerbread, for now. I have tried so many.
Thanks for replies. Thread moved to the Q & A.
so we w8 ICS or FXP its like a race! xD
I got tired of waiting and crazy rumours so I did it, unlocked myself. I wanted root that much. Plus, I read B4anry explain in a comment exactly how Sony treats locked/unlocked bootloader, depending on what you've done, and I think I'm safe. He knows his stuff obviously!

Umm...no dude....with e-root u cud directly root it and even if we choose the downgrade option there are 2 ways downgrading to .42/.58 rom and root it or just downgrade to a rootable kernel, for e.g. .562 kernel and then root.
Cheers,
AJ

i have an xperia u st25i android 2.3.7
when i decided to root it i was disappointed by knowing my "unlock bootloader allow : no"
plz help :crying: is there anyway to make it "yes" ?

Nope, as of now, there is no way to unlock it.
But you could attain root if you upgrade to ICS, without unlocking your boot loader.

After experimenting around i wouldn't worry about it on the U. Just use gingerbread or update to ics, root, add cwm and flash gb rocks rom. It's the best to use

I could not do to much with my Experia U locked bootloader on GB
my phone is unlocked officialy from operator Bouygues !! if i update the phone any risk of losing the unlocking of sim ??
No, your phone will remain SIM unlocked. And if you prefer gingerbread, you can have it rooted for locked bootloader. You have it here in general section a thread explaining how to do it.

Yes, you can flash a St25a firmware (.ftf), but yes, you MUST exclude baseband flashing. You have plenty of ST25i firmwares around, so why bother with an st25a .ftf??
