Hi guys, i'm new around here.
I got an xperia x10i which i can't update it to the last version of android. Curently i'm using the 2.1 update1 version.
The problem is that i can't connect it on my PC to update it, i got a problem with my usb connection and my pc can't recognise the phone so no possible update.
I wonder if is any other way to update the android without a direct connection to pc through a cable. Something through a microSD or anything....
Can you guys give a little help or is not possible without a pc connection?

Unless you repair your usb connection or you find a way to unlock your phone via a phone app, it wouldn't be possible. Once unlocked there are some options (like installing xrecovery) .

I am having a problem with my new Xperia X10 Mini Pro since I updated it to Android 2.1. Basically the problem is that Windows tells me that it cant be recognized, even if it was installed and worked properlly while being with 1.6. And the weirderst part is...sometimes it connects but rapidly disconnects without the option of mounting it. So:
1. It may be the cable. Weird because it have less than a week.
2. It may be the cellphone itself. Same as above.
3. It may be Android 2.1 messing up with the hardware. Possibly but I cant tell because its impossible to restore it as I cant connect it.
Please keep in mind that I havent rooted it or anything, it just stoped working.

Its a bug. Connect using charge phone first and then bring down the stausbar and chose mount.

Hi there, got xperia with broken? USB port - when plugged in to charger it charges (but doesn't show it's charging), when pluggen in to PC nothing happens (there must be a popup or notification in notification bar like i have on x8?)
the phone is really great, but it has only droid 1.6.
So is there any possibility to run update to at least 2.1 only from SD? not using the USB connection?
I have tried installing zdzihu's tool, but the phone says "cannot install application xRecovery Installer on this phone". Root made by Universal Androot and BusyBox installed in /system/bin/.

you can do this in 2 ways.
1:
Use SEUS. Download the New 2.1. Version. Turn your Phone off. Flash your Phone with SEUS
2:
Use Flashtool and flash a custum or genric ROM

really great, but PC doesn't find xperia when plugged in... so it didn't solve my problem.
use in settings the ota with wifi to update the Phone.
If the micrusb is not working, you should get that fixed 1st.
With phone rooted, busybox installed use xrecovery.apk from the official thread to install it.
Choose a nice firmware to install.

Shows network error (but browser and market normally operate), will try at home with other internet connection.
Phone has been sent to the service and they returned it cancelling guarantee.
all apps downloaded from official threads.

Got the same problem yesterday, bought on allegro like a new. I used it for 4 months, everything was perfect. Suddenly USB stopped working. It charges via charger but extremely slowly, via PC nothing happens. The biggest crap I have ever seen in a cell phone that class. :/ Of course I don't have warranty. Did they (service) explained why they cancelled your waranty? Did it happended suddenly or it was already in that condition when you received it? Have you dropped it on the ground etc? Any reasonable explanation?
It is propably impossible to update ypur phone OS without working USB transmission. Phone must be run into service mode first, than you can update basband (from what I know and I think I know much, this can be done only by USB cable) required for newer roms. After that and phone being rooted you can flash newer roms directly from SD. I'm "lucky" 'couse I managed to update baseband to .1.54 and Froyo just before that crap stopped working. Ehhhh.....

Hi guys I'm new to android with the Neo, great phone, but I'm having problems trying to connect to pc compaion via wifi.
I start up pc companion and go through all the steps of making a connection but when it comes to the last step my phone just says connecting and pc companion will not go to the last step and finish the connection ?
Does anyone have any ideas ?
My neo is running 2.3.3
Build No 3.0.1.A.0.145
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf

I am connecting to the same wifi, it's my home network. The strange thing is that my laptop connects to it, my phone connects to it and the wifi works on my phone, I can connect to myphone explorer this way but pc companion just stays in a connecting loop ?

Realy I just thought it would save me the hassle of plugging in the usb cable all the time, plus if it's there on the phone I like it to work.
Oh yea I understand mine worked but I thought u wanted to upgrade with it cause I was Yuma say it doesn't work with WiFi that's all

Later I tried to install PCC in 2 other computers and tried to connect via wifi:
1st computer is running Win XP and still can't connect, the wifi connect option in the PCC menu is grey and can't be selected;
2nd computer is running Win 7. It can successfully connect via wifi.
The main computer which I need to sync with is running Windows Vista, but I can't connect with this computer via wifi. So, is this a problem relates to the Windows Vista's version of wifi?
Problem solved
This is what fixed this problem for me:
1. Select "Media transfer mode" on your phone
2. Connect to PC via USB.
3. Open Windows Explorer, right-click your phone and select "Network Configuration".
Now complete the wizard and then run the PC Companion Wifi setup again.

Specifically to circumstances I have defective usb mini port on my cell phone. Phone is fully functional, can be charged and make phone calls, but data transfer or connecting a computer to the phone via USB cable, is not possible. The cable is proper only port on the phone is defective.
So I'm interested in the following , is it possible to update the phone to a newer firmware (ginger or froyo, it does not matter) using only a memory card. So all that would be downloaded to the cell phone via computer to be transferred on the memory card and to do update that way.
Mobile is at factory default settings and has never been rooted or anything similar has been done to the phone, he is "out of the box". Sorry for the poor English, it is not my native language.

I think you would only be able to upgrade if it's a custom Rom and flash it through Xrecocery. You can transfer the files to the microSD by using an adapter to connect to your computer, but it's annoying because you need to take it out the phone and put it back in.

Hi everyone, almost the same problem, well worst really, my USB port doesn't work at all (something about motherboard) I'm on a custom ROM at 2.1 I will really like to upgrade to 2.3, so do anyone know is there any ROM that I can install via recovery that has an OTA upgrade or via recovery from 2.1 to 2.3?

Recently i have updated my lg p500 through lg update sfw i was successfully updated.. Now i am facing a problem i am not able to connect my phone with my pc.. its just getting charge and not getting connect. in phone some times i get usb symbol and it go off very soon.. it connect and disconnect very often, i dont understand what may be the problem.? im using the same usb cable and pc which i was using before update i was not faced and problem with froyo.
please guys kindly help me..... and im looking to root my phone help me to root.

there are many methods to root your phone......just search on the theard.....
