I have a problem. I want to open web page, which containts google map with pin points. (Address is http://www.4x4klubs.lv/2011/08/lpg/ )
I open it up, I see the google map, I can move in it, but I dont see any pin point.
In chrome its just blank map.
In built in browser if I click "show large map" under the maps, it opens up in google maps app. There, if I select "read" I can see all the addresses of pin points, but I still cant see them on map.

Okay so after plenty of trying to get Facebook's checkin feature working on Windows Mobile 6.5 using these methods:
Opera browser
Internet Explorer browser
Iris browser
Dorothy browser
XDAFacebook app
ZK Browser with Google Gears
what I found was... NONE OF THEM WORKED!
Finally I found that you can use Foursquare which will then update your Facebook for you:
1. Go to http://foursquare.com and sign up. On the signup page where you're asked to enter your email, etc be sure to click the Login with Facebook button
2. Once you have successfully joined, log in to Foursquare and go to Settings in the top right hand corner, scroll to the bottom and in the Linked Accounts section, tick Publish my check-ins to Facebook
3. Go here to download the WinMoSquare CAB
4. Install it on your device, ensure you have carrier data allowed, start WinMoSquare and log in to your Foursquare account
5. If you're somewhere random like your house or some other place that wouldn't be already entered into Foursquare then tap Add Venue. Otherwise just tap Check In. A list of locally-found locations comes up (the program uses your GPS to find your location). Tap a location then to actually check in, tap the name of the location again at the top
6. Now you can type in some words if you want them to appear with your Facebook update or you can leave it blank BUT for the checkin to appear on Facebook you have to tick BOTH Tell my friends and Send to Facebook
DONE, go check your Facebook updates!
Hi,
if I go to Add Venue, I got no keyboard for input.
Does it work on your phone?
Site seems broken. Login with facebook button doesnt do anything on both Chrome and Firefox....
EDIT: nevermind it is working now. Temporary error.
Seems, Mighty Lumpy .. ! '
Use MySquare instead of WinMoSquare. Mysquare is waaaaay better.
Hello,
I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]
I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!

Was searching in Google for same issue and came across this post.
Okay, I figure out how to reproduce the bug, at least in my case. If I star it on the desktop browser, it won't push any new name to the ios app. But if I star it on the ios app, then go to rename it in the browser, and then go back to the ios app, the new name appears. Huh?

I tried with one of my bookmarks and this technique worked!

I wrote that. Good to see myself quoted on xda!
Definitely this works on latest Maps app on Latest iOS. However, definitely this technique does *not* work (at least in my case, Samsung GS4 Google Ed.) using the latest Maps app (7.0.1) on Android 4.2.2. In fact, with this setup, the places list does not show *any* of the names I have assigned using the Bookmarks webpage, no matter what I try. Erg.
When I do a search for a specific store or location in the browser, it will bring up a list of places nearby. When I select Directions it opens up Google Maps in the browser. Is there any way to have it open up in Navigation instead because the Google Maps in the browser can never find my location with the GPS.
Thanks.

Well, seems like it wasn't working in Dolphin but works in the standard browser.
I use Google assistant on my Android on a daily basis, with the tap of a button - to get directions, make a phone call, send a text, open an app, etc. However, my 10-yr-old son has figured out that he can bypass my password-protected browser apps (such as Chrome) by doing web/video searches directly on Google assistant. For reasons that I won't get into here, it is imperative that I prevent his unauthorized access to the internet. However, I don't wish to bury Google assistant under a password or a lock screen, on account of how often I use it for all sorts of other stuff. IS THERE A WAY TO DISABLE WEB SEARCHES FROM THE GOOGLE APP, OR TO FORCE THE APP TO DEFER TO THE CHROME APP FOR THOSE SEARCHES?
I do have a rooted device, if that helps.
I am having the same issue with the Cortana assistant app on my Android as well. If I could get either Cortana or Google Assistant to block web searches, I'd be happy.
Just joined Google Fi. Is there any way to add "messages" to the google apps button?
Title says it all. I just left Google Voice for Google Fi and ported my GV number over.
Minor thing, but I miss having the function in gmail when I click on the google apps, then google voice, then it launches to web interface. I can't seem to find a similar setup for the messages for web app. Does this exist?
I realize I'm just lazy, but would be nice to have!
