Hello.
Can someone explain to me how to use a2sd?? What partitions i have to create (i have a 8gig sd card).
Thank you
A bit more digging here and you would have found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512873
This thread details a few ways to partition your SD card. Once you have it set up a A2SD will do its magic, by itself, after a reboot.
Thank You

Just make sure you do an EXT3 partition...I made it EXT4 the first time and it won't work...
Hey all, I'm a complete newb at all this and I just wanted to learn a bit more about apps2SD and partitioning an SD card. I've searched the forums but could not find an explanation really of what these things mean.
I understand that there is a fat32 partition, and I assume this is where the pictures and music go?
What do the ext2/3/4 partitions do? Are they for caches and apps? What are the differences between the three and what are the advantages between each, if there are any?
What about a linux_swap. What does that do? Any advantages for it?
Thanks everyone!

Hi all,
I want to gain a bit more usable space on my phone without reformatting and repartition my sd card, the best way I can think of doing this would be to place a virtual hdd file of some sort(VHD or equivalent) on my sd card, format it EXT4 and then mount it within android.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
I've searched everywhere but keep getting completely irrelevant results so if this has already been asked and answered then I'm sorry and would you mind pointing me in the right direction?
Many thanks
Wondering same and looking for the answer since long.
Got any response or found a solution?
Link2SD is a working solution for increasing internal memory i.e. by linking apps to 2nd partition on sd card. But I don't want to partition my sd card. Just a virtual partition (ISO or IMG file placed somewhere on sd card) should be mounted at /data/sdext2/ to which apps are linked.
I don't think it's an impractical idea.
