GMD Gesture Control - Multi-touch Gesture App, functions like iPad2+ - TouchPad Themes and Apps

So I found this really neat app that gives you the ability to swipe gestures from 1-5 fingers. It adds great functionality to ICS+. Works great on our Touchpad. The lite version seems to work just fine but the pro version lets you customize your own.

This is one hell of an android gem.

I agree. I use the 3 finger back function. A custom 3 finger corner swipe to kill an app that I'm in when done. I use the 4 finger expand swipe to pull up my most used apps. I also have a custom 4 finger top to bottom swipe that turns the screen off. I also use the 4finger app switch just like the iPad. It was definitely worth the 4-5 bucks I paid for it. =)

Highly recommend root users try this. Gives iPad like gestures, but more + customisable. Has made using my nexus even better than it already is

Simply awesome. Google should buy out this developer and incorporate these features natively. Well worth the $5. This brings one of the best iOS features to android, but with more customizations and functionality.
I agree, I've been using this app for several months on my touchpad. It brings much need functionality to any tablet.
There are the function I setup:
-3 finger downward-right swipe from the top left cornerto kill the app im in.
-3 finger rightward swipe to use the Back function
-4 finger downward swipe to shut the tablet off
-4 finger upward swipe to kill the notification bars.
-4 finger left or right swipe to move to the previous or next app that was is active
-5 finger expand swipe to pull up my favorite apps (in a small menu)
-5 finger collapse swipe to go to the home screen
New one, right side border 2 finger expand to pull up recent apps.
still playing with other custom settings but those are the most used one I have.
Here is a video for those who aren't picturing this app well.

@ Izeltokatl: Thanks for posting your settings. I`m just getting started with GMD and slowly working out a system of custom gestures so I can remove/disable/hide s/w buttons (navbar/statusbar). Even on my Nexus 7, getting rid of the status/notif bar = more real estate! Anyway, I`ll post my custom settings once I have a proper/logical set of gestures in place. cheers!
All I want to do is simple ios gestures.
5 finger pinch to home-close
4 finger swipe left or right to switch apps.
5 finger pinch to close-home is not in the default settings so I had to make a custom one.
Its works,.. after 8-9 attempts..
Guys what am i doing wrong here? I emailed the dev last night too, no response yet. *Edit - DURRRRR! The developer has a thread here, lol*
Cheers!
Google should really implement this, this is easily the best feature on iOS.
I'd use it but I dislike running unneeded processes in the background :/
This took me a little while to setup and get used to, but now that everything is setup, this is pretty great!!

With gmd, if you toggle the status bar off, will it reappear when you receive a notification?

[Q] Is there a good thumbwheel UI I can use with one hand?

I've been using my HOX+ for almost six months now, fairly light use but I'm mostly happy with it. I'm still running unrooted stock, just installed the official 4.2.2 update. This is my first real smartphone, I had an unsubsidized $100 3.14" Android smartphone last year that I don't think really qualifies.
The big complaint I have with the jump to a 4.7" screen is that one-handed use is uncomfortable and requires me to stretch to reach the corners, where the buttons are often stupidly located, or sometimes even to slide the phone up and down in my hand to make the buttons accessible, not exactly easy to do with one hand without dropping the phone. I would really like a phone that is comfortable to use one-handed, but I don't want to compromise by buying a smaller screen phone, say 4.3" or god forbid the 4" size of the iPhone, as I'm not exactly thrilled with the "looking through a keyhole" quality of 4.7" either.
I think the right solution would be a thumbwheel UI in the bottom right corner, placed in the arc right where my thumb is, so I can use it one-handed with my thumb and not have to reach with my fingers. As long as it let me virtually hit all the buttons on the screen, even native app buttons like the menu button at the top or the tab switcher button at the top in Chrome, I could even buy a phablet if there was something like this, maybe a 5.5+ inch screen that I could use comfortably one-handed with just my thumb in the bottom-right corner.
The closest thing I've been able to find like this is the Splay launcher, but I don't think such launchers actually let me control menus within apps, only launch apps. This guy wrote a small app earlier this year to do something similar, seems to be a great article talking about the idea but I don't think that effort went anywhere.
Is there any effort within the xda community to integrate a one-handed control interface like this? This is a feature that would actually make me root and install a ROM, as I haven't had the need to go to the trouble yet. I'd love to see an effort like this on Android, wonder what everyone else thinks.

A "Whole" UI made especially for one hand usage? Well I know the second best solution.
Install "Pie Controls" and assign it to any corner/side of the screen, it will allow you to launch apps but for the function that you want, you will need to root. Once you are rooted PIE has extra features like "Back, Home, Sleep, Menu, Recent Apps" ..etc.
A Second best is "LMT" launcher ALSO requires root. Once you have it, you will be able to have PIE Controls as well, PLUS a unique feature to have gestures working in all screens. You can swipe down to bring up the notification bar or swipe up for recent apps. The reason i put it as second best was because I don't really like it ..
Ofcourse there are normal launchers , like nova launcher ..etc. that allows you to swipe down to bring up the notifications but sadly that only works on the home screen.
There are also ROMS like AOKP (For us Carbon rom or something similar) which has a stock feeling but extra buttons in the Power menu. When you hold down the power menu , under the normal "Power off, restart, screenshot, airplane" you will also find "Back, Home, Recent apps"
I honestly think that PIE Controls is the best app to have out of them all since it works on all ROMs . Though for full features you should buy the Pro version.
P.S: All apps that you are looking for will require ROOT access.

How didn't it function?
Well here is a good video that will help you install it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBud1hk27Rw
Although to have full features you will require to BUY the pro version and root, the free version on an unrooted version should have some functions that will work like launching apps and other stuff. Try to clarify what you meant

I installed the app and set it to work on the left, right, and bottom, then configured two short-click apps in level 1. I would then long-press at those edges and nothing happened with pie control: HTC Sense would send me to widget configuration instead.
I just watched your video and he does a slight swipe from the edge, instead of the long-press I was trying. I just installed the app again and tried that on the home screen and within a couple other apps, again no pie controls. If I do it on the home screen, it starts to scroll to the next home screen, as it always did.
There may be something about HTC Sense that it's not giving control to the pie app for gestures, or maybe there's some other switch I have to hit somewhere to actually enable the pie gestures?

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you. Although HOX+ and S3 have the same screen size, for the PIE to activate you just need to increase the activation area width. Just thought of installing Pie again after a while of not using it and just remembered. Now it's working fine
I remember there was a small bug of the activation area width being reset everytime you open the app if I can remember correctly. That or everytime you press on the activation width area. Can't really remember but my point is, while using the app if it suddenly doesnt appear anymore just increase the width again and it will work.
Sorry it took me a while to reply since I couldn't really remember

@FemBlack any chance we can get gingerbread support?
swipe one finger support?
Absolutely awesome, been playing with it for like 5 minutes, and I can already tell tell its going to save me a lot of navigation time, thanks. Shortcut support would be a nice addition.
EDIT: The requests for one finger support I don't understand tho? I mean, I have one finger swipe support on my launcher home page (nova), but it if was system wide.. I feel like I would be triggering the action while scrolling, and various other times.. I think the multiple finger trigger is all that's needed/useful. Just my 2¢
One finger support and animation while swiping will be awesome

Amazing app.
This is very handy app and it will save me a lot of time ..
Please add the Ability to launch shortcuts by gestures same as apps if you may & create "excluded apps" for each individual gesture type.
Thank you VERY much for this awesome app & Please, Keep Up the good work

I'm totally agree with you, I think one finger is only needed for launchers such as nova which already have gestures support . Other than that It cause massive conflict while scrolling, browsing, swiping...etc.
Thanks for your awesome work![emoji106]
It would be perfect if expanding notifications could be available in the future release.[emoji1]

I did, but I thought I surely must have missed something because even with the premium features this app only offers a small fraction of what the other free app does. I guess you don't know either, so if someone else does, please post.
@FemBlack
Another great module....good work.
I currently use GMD but 2 finger swipes with GMD are unusable with my Stock ICS rom on my S3. With your mod, it works fine! :good:
I purchased your mod and I think I also donated? I am not sure what happened.
Report
- screen off not working. (but I can trigger my "screen off and lock" app and it works.)
Request
- can you add SHORTCUTS as an action? It's important for me.
- can you add "Kill Foreground App"?
If you can add these, then I can use your app instead of GMD.
Hi, will you add more gesture like activator?

Great - thanks a lot!
The buttons located at the middle of the status bar were the topic that bothered me most on my new Z2 tab, as you always have to move your hand and let go the tablet's frame.
:good:
One of the main reasons I have already rooted my device (although the bootloader had to be unlocked).
So I can use "Expanded Desktop" from Xposed module "Gravity Box" (no navigation bar anymore, which additionally means more screen estate) and GMD Gesture control instead.
For instance, for "Back" I have set 2 gestures: Either diagonally (!) to the right and down with 3 fingers, or the same to the left and down.
Since "Back" is a very frequent command, this is the most comfortable direction for a swipe because the arm which is holding the tablet is anyway in that direction. I just have to pull the arm "back" instead of bringing it into a certain position first. And the two gestures ensure that I can make the Back gesture with either hand equally comfortably.
I had the device unrooted for two weeks, and it felt simply awkward to be forced again to hit little spots on the screen for basic commands. (My other devices are always also rooted.)
I've tried GMD gestures but wasn't able to get it work. Any idea why or did you do anything special to make it work? On my N7 it's been working like a charm for a long time. Thanks.
On the Z2 Tablet, you have to set (in "Advanced“) "Override touch events parser detection" to "HC_DEFAULT".
Sorry to be an idiot but this sounds very good and natural. However I can't picture the mvmt. Do u grab with the free hand and then swipe or what?

I tried this but it's a little cumbersome and gets in the way.
And then I remembered PIE! Durr
sorry but piecontrol is far superior. Also no root, and can do a lot more.
I much prefer swiping in method, got used to it with old paranoidandroid builds waaaaay back in the ICS era

Try Button Saviour. Way better than pie.

Customize navigation gesture area

Hey guys, is there any way to customize the navigation swipe gesture areas in One UI? I love the new recent apps gesture with the smooth animation, but I would like that the entire bottom area was used to do the recent apps gesture, killing the back and home gestures. As I use the FNG app for side gestures, using the bottom gesture only for recent apps would be great!
I know, without root, this may be impossible, but maybe substratum could do some tricks...?!
I use FNG for everything. Bottom left half does recent apps, bottom right half does home.

I mean that, on One UI, when you enable the native navigation gestures, you can swipe to open the recent apps screen, and as you swipe up, the app follows your finger, giving us a sweet animation, just like the Xiaomi, iOS and others. But the area to swipe to recent apps doesn't fill the entire bottom area of the Galaxy S10, so there's other gestures to the back button and home button. What I would like to know is, if there's any trick to remove the back and home swipe gestures, and fill the whole bottom area to the recent apps gesture only, like iOS and Xiaomi.
FNG act as a "click", so as soon as you do the gesture, it opens the recent apps screen, without that animation that follows your finger as you swipe.
Sorry if I'm not being clear, I'm working on my English yet. =/

Ah, I think I know what you're saying. Unfortunately I am unsure of how to have the animation follow similar to stock navigation gestures using anything other than the baked in version Samsung gave.
And it's not your English, I'm just a little slow at times, haha.
