Screen Protector for sola - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I wanted to know if there is a screen protector preinstalled by Sony on the sola.. Because my screen is slightly scratched and I remember the sola having a scratchproof glass
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app

There's a shatterproof sheet pre installed in sola and u can see it if u take a closer look around the earpiece or the screen edges. It's the sheet that scratches not the screen. You can apply a screen protector on top of it but in your case it's already scratched so I advise u to keep it as is and get the maximum use of the sheet and then peel of off and apply a good aftermarket seen protector
Sent from my MT27i using xda premium

My pre-installed screen protector was scratched, too. I peeled it off, after that I continued using it without applying a new one and my screen's now still ok. I think Sola's screen doesn't need a protector.

@OP-You should have posted it in

It's the same for all xperia devices I think, my old x10 had it. I don't advise going without a screen protector, some supposedly scratch proof glasses have gotten scratched i.e. The galaxy note

Mine to, unfortunately.
my neo too
anyone else seen the video on xperiablog about the Xperia Active? the one where the guy tries to destroy the screen.. with knives, including craft knife and hits it with hammers, Wrenches etc..
He just wipes the screen after all the abuse and it looks perfect! he even runs over the phone with his Jeep..
If the glass on the Neo is the same stuff then it should be pretty much indestructable.. thinking of taking my screen protector off too!

I'll keep the screen protector on as long as I don't have any scratches.

Had the same thoughts, good to see this thread here, So, putting it ur pocket, using getting it back in, playing game (With short nails xD) and normal usement, will keep the screen unscratched ?and people who got to scratch it, how did they get to scratch it ?
Not good to have a big scratched screen, u know.
So should i take my 1.dollar bad screen protector ?}

anti-shatter film?
Does anyone know if the Neo comes with factory applied anti-shatter film like X10i, Play, Arc, etc.? That film was really easy to scratch on my old Play, but you could remove it and replace it with ordinary protector.
I only have a almost invisible scratch on the protective film, after months of use.

Did anyone remove shatterproof sheet before applying screen protector?

For me, I put that on top of the shatterproof sheet.

Correct. Its not a "shatter proof" sheet but a factory installed screen protector. There's an extra screen protector included on some markets.

Is that so? I heard that almost every Sony (Ericsson) device comes with the pre-applied shatter proof sheet and it takes some force to remove it. I might be wrong anyway.

So is it worth putting the included screen protector on top of the fitted one or is that just overkill?

No need, the one that is already applied is more than enough. Just keep it as a spare.
I dont think the screen responds as good if you put another on top
Ok thanks for the input on this, just going to stick with the factory fitted one

Got mine from O2, UK. All I had was a cloudy screen film with descriptions on. I had to remove it to see the screen properly and applied the provided screen protector, and have two irritating bubbles! Would be nicer if they were all fixed on from factory. Although looking back at it, it seems like there is another layer below that - visible on left side only mainly because the screen protector isn't in perfect alignment. Bottom layer seems like it's thin piece of glass rather that plastic.
Anyone has the same as me?
I put it onto the sheet, and it works quite fine. Double protection

Has anyone removed the factory fitted protector? I generally don't use protection (hurr) and think this one just attracts more muck than anything. I've never had a problem with scratching screens so I'm not convinced it's necessary in my case.
So if anyone has removed it, is it glass? Is it difficult to remove? Was it a terrible idea?

I bought a pretty expensive martin fields screen protector because I'm very scared to damage the display or ruin the quality with a cheap dealextreme screen protector.
Do you suggest I use the pre applied screen protector until there are scratches on it, pull it off with force and apply the martin fields on the glass or do i put on the martin fields screen protector straight on the pre applied one?
i heard that the pre applied one is not designed to be taken off... so i'm not really sure

Noooo way

After many privacy protectors, mirror screen protectors and matte screen protectors that didn't work properly
I put a privacy protector on my XOOM and to my surprise, it worked properly!
The privacy protector on the XS left lines very visible and made the screen almost unviewable, the mirror protector on the XS was horrible and left a rainbow tint on the screen and was VERY unviewable and finally the matte protector made the screen seem like there was water or oil all over the screen because of those colored dots everywhere. And to my shock none of those appeared if put on a Motorola xoom. I have come to the conclusion that the xperia s has a very weird LCD screen, does this happen to your XS? Is there any way to stop this?
All of my complaining was due to the xperia s being weird and not because they supplied a faulty protector -_- but they should've tested it before they started selling it!

Does anyone know a brand that makes a matte or privacy protector specifically for this type of screen
It's bugging me that I can only use a glossy protector
And why does this happen
I have an matte protector.
Its well for me i had the factoryshield under it

[Q] Does the phone need a screen protector?

I'm going to upgrade to this phone from my Galaxy S3 which never really needed a screen protector. Does the z2 need one or is the glass scratch proof like gorilla glass?
Thanks,

The Z2 use3s Dragontail glass which is very strong, but slightly less scratch resistent than Gorilla glass,
However I think it's personal preference as to whether you use a screen protector or not..
I personally always use a screen protector just in case & have never had any problems doing so...
It came with one so I put it on there and its actually pretty ok.
Never had one on any of my phones before but this one has a nice matte finish to it. As the whole front it glass is worth it imo
Does the z2 have a shatter proof film? If so they scratch very easily and would need a protector but as pointed out since implementing spf's sony has been giving protectors in the box's of most handsets.

The glass of Z1 is scratch proof. But there will be some scratches after long time using.
So if you can't bear any tiny scratches , you'd better use a screen protector.
I feel a protector is always nice

How does it compare against the iphone 5s? I never needed a screen protector for mine.
Mine only came with a screen protector for the front in the box which I applied straight away, but I had to wait 3 days for a protector for the back to arrive, in that time its got several ugly scratches on the back glass.
I'm rather disappointed to be honest as it's not been abused, its been in the same pocket I kept my z1 in for 6 months without a mark to the screen protector. I was hoping Sony had put one of the easily scratched shatter proof films on the back, but sadly it seems there isn't a pre applied film and the glass scratches very easily.
Now I have a 3 day old Z2 which looks older than my 6 month old Z1

I probably overpaid for my Nillkin 9H explosion proof tempered glass screen protector it feels every bit as good as the glass screen underneath. Plus it doesn't matt the screen colours down like the protector that comes with the phone.

I am thinking the regular screen protectors are difficult to stick and may not be waterproof, which kind defeats the purpose of having a waterproof phone!

Best screen protector?

Hey guys, I just ordered the phone did am wondering what screen protector you get a would recommend? Currently thinking about getting either the nillkin Tempered glass or a spigen one
Thanks

However they start to take some scratches after 6 months of use; not bad I guess

Tempered glass can protect your screen from shocks and scratches. But it is thicker than other normal films. And it is weak in anti fingermark.
So if you worry the screen broken due to impact, you'd better use a tempered glass.
If you decide to use a case, then you can choice a anti-glare screen film or a clear screen protector which is thin and cheap. They also can keep scratches away from the screen.
You can get Sony Xperia Z2 accessories from witrigs which offers SONY accessories and SONY repair guide.
I have to say that xtreme cover rocks. If you get dust under it just rince with finger tip water and soap.
