Weather and Weather wallpaper app force close - HTC EVO 3D

Hey guys, I am back for more help. I recently flashed coolexe's cool sense Rom which I must say is fantastic. However there is this annoying issue of constant force closes on weather and weather wall paper. I tried all kinds of things to fix it. I did a factory data reset, wiped cache and dalvik, ran fix permissions, reflashed the Rom 4 times and did full wipes. I tried adjusting the cm heap size. The default is 128m. I tried clearing the data cache out of both apks. I narrowed it down to have something to do with weather sync provider apk. I froze it and the force closes stopped. However I could not get no weather data at all. If anyone has a solution they would like to share I would greatly appreciate any help. Here are my phones specs:
S-Off
Cdma Evo 3d
Rom: Cool Evo v11 Cdma
Kernel: Coolz Evo v2.0
Recovery: 4ext v1.0.0.5 RC6
Hboot 1.58
Baseband 1.09.00.0706

Update: I figured out what was causing the force closings. Did some research and found out the weather sound effect mp3 files could have something to do with it. I froze weather sync and disabled the sound effects and it worked. No more force closes. However that means I cannot use the effects. It's not that big of a deal but I would like to have them. I also learned that these files are located in the htc resources apk. I would appreciate any help on how to fix that. Thank you in advance.

Go into root explorer and delete it if u can find it
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA

Thank you for the reply. It's like I said. They are located inside the htc resources apk. You couldn't just go inside the apk and delete these files like a regular file. I am also trying to get the sound effects to work again. All I know is that you would have to pull the apk from the Rom and place on your pc and use winar to help with decompiling the apk. However I do not know how to edit the files within to make them work again. If you know how to do it or point me in the direction of where to find out I would appreciate that. Thank you.

Easy fix. Get coolexe's junk off your phone and flash beneath a burning turtle's common sense.

Ehhh. Not entirely accurate, but not entirely inaccurate at all.
I do feel common sense is a slightly better Rom. Feels a little faster, xloud and bravia is nice. That's speaking without the bias.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Duly noted. I haven't tried common sense yet. I will try it out tomorrow to see how it is. I'm not saying your experience was biased. I just disagree with your harsh description of the cool sense Rom based off of the weather mp3 file bug. Other than that, the Rom runs perfectly. I was simply trying to learn how to fix an issue without running and complaing to coolexe about a bug he probably already knew about. It's cool I'm wasn't offended at all.

Lol. It was based on who made it. Not a single bug. XD and ya give common sense a try, it's one of the better sense 3.6 roms I've tried

Update: Guess you was right. I have been running common sense for a few hours and its flawless with no bugs or glitches. Thanks for the tip. I'll be using this as my daily for awhile.

Glad I could help, even though it wasn't exactly by answering your question. Lol

[Q] Bamf 2.0.5 lockscreen not properly working

Did some searching and didnt find anyone with this problem. I have the lockscreen with the ring but the 4 apps to choose from aren't there and it seems to not care that I change between the 7 available different lockacreens. Anyone have a fix for this or experience it yet?
Would have posted in the BAMF thread but it says i need more posts befote I can.
Did you try rebooting?
First time I loaded, it didn't show up, but after a reboot, it's been working fine.
Reboot didn't work, grr.. I wonder if it has anything to do with spare parts?

One more question...
Did you do the update through Rom Manager or Clockwork Recovery?
Reason I ask, I noticed when I used Rom Manger the first time, not all everything worked correctly and things were missing.
So I restored my backup then went into clockwork recovery and installed the zip.
Then everything worked properly. I know others have reported odd issues when trying to flash through Rom Manager as opposed to Clockwork.
Not sure if that will help you, but you can always give it a try.
I wiped everything and used clockwork not rom manager
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Sorry I couldn't be anymore help.
Only thing I could think to do is try and reload the rom again.
About to do that now
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Yea took me 2 full clears/installs to get 2.05 installed correctly and fully
this is so frustrating, i did a reinstall and it worked for like 10 seconds then stopped working again.
i'm restoring my backup with everything that was working right now so i have a phone to use for the rest of the day but tm i'm gonna load up the froyo radio in case i wanna go back to das bamf 1.6.3 until some more of these kinks are worked out (random force closes of apps i wasn't even aware were running lmao)
thanks for all the help as always guys, this rom has SO much potential its amazing.
Would like to update this: the bamf remix Rom after a full wipe fixed literally every issue I had with the old ROM.
Best of luck to other early adopters, and these guys are doing a fantastic job..

I had this issue after trying to solve a separate issue. The lock screen works in conjuction with a group of other operations, and if one of those other operations is stopped/removed/frozen/whatever, it messes up the lockscreen. I had to do a full data wipe and reinstall. Haven't had an issue since.
Yeah I had the problem once again. Driving me nuts
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I have been having this same problem since coming from 2.0-4 to 2.0-5 and remix.
Almost thought I was the only one with this problem. I did a full wipe twice before loading remix. Worked for a while until I fixed permissions then rebooted. No more lockscreen icons
No idea what I did but now my lock screen is back to normal.
I hope this isn't something that happens all the time with this ROM. that would get super annoying
did you have any issues with previous versions?

[ROM]GerbilSense-6 Shooter-w/Netarchy Kernel-updt 08/08--MORE GOODIES-THE FASTEST ROM

Hello folks and this is my 1st rom for the Evo 3D. I call it the 6 shooter because it is light weight, fast and deadly
even without overclock this rom is FAST! OC just makes it insane!
This Rom includes all the apps, kernels, tweaks, boobies and such that I like to use. If you don't like something sorry, you can find what you want around these forums and add as you like.
Thanks to Netarchy, I love his Kernels and find them to be the best. Also to Mik (unknowingly) i learned alot from following him and asking questions and tearing his roms apart, visit his page and donate to him because without his work i wouldn't be making this rom !
Included is Netarchy's kernel. I find OC'd to 1.7 gives me a very smooth, fast, stable experience, with outstanding battery life. Now onto some goodies....
Odexed (651.7 base)
Adfree
D7 Google Reader
File Expert (easily mounts system to file alterations)
Bloatware can be destroyed in the settings menu
Removed Crappy ringtones and notifications that bugged me (like my marriage)
Mms no compression (she is fat) and max mms 5mb (default setting)
3D Homescreen Display setting
Hotspot hack with usb tether
Extended reboot menu
Browser settings popped loose
Browser tabs unlimited (go wild)
Hidden quicksettings now visible
Removed GPS icon when not in use (thanx Mik)
Removed the ultra annoying (like a nagging wife) USB debug icon (thanks again Mik, love your ideas)
Known Issues
-hot restart in the menu doesn't work, requires battery pull.
Normal and hot restart is determined by the fastboot option in the power settings.
There are not screenies because it is stock..and if you don't know what stock looks like, well you don't have the phone
***Disclaimer***you the end user assumes all the risk and responsibility with flashing this or any rom. I will not buy you a new phone, send you money, give you a voucher or any compensation you can think of because you destroyed your phone. Thanks.
older links removed, onto better things below.............................................
Updated 8/07/2011
-removed more bloat such as
-HTC widgets were removed beside music and calender
-mail app (gmail is all is use, if you need it search forums, its there)
-couple of framework thingAmAjigs
-460mb of ram available
-new Alpharev boot animation
-panoramic camera added
-sync and phone icon missing fixed.
-Green overscroll and sync fix included in zip below
-Battery percentage
Updated 8/8
-removed even more bloat--now 490 free ram---if you flash, skip setup, reboot then look at task manager you will have 470-490mb of ram free
-attatched is stock task bar--will free up even more ram!
When you setup accounts, set up your google first, finish and let it sync. Then you can do all the rest. Noticed for some reason it helps.
Download Here
OR HERE
Many questions about why i removed the email app, because i think it was worthless. I use this one because its faster, and better for enterprise, its from the Epic 4G. Thanks
Thanks to JoelZ9614!!! Panoramic camera-if you downloaded a previous version of this rom otherwise as of 8/6 9:37 EST it is included in rom-push to /system/app...download here
removed widgets-(CLICK THIS ENTIRE LINK TO DOWNLOAD)---place the ones you want in /system/app folder and reboot---if you dont' see it when you click widget at top it will say "browse all HTC widgets and it will be there.

Phone icon on lockscreen issue has been resolved, sorry but you must reflash the rom to correct the issue. Thanks.

3.0.4 patch and kernel questions

Hey gang
just wondering if anyone has any idea of an eta on the zippy patches for our to's with 3.0.4 on them?
you know, the faster card, ripple removing, smoother scroling and muffling ones?
grabbed the f4 phantom kernel for 3.0.4 so things are buzzing along nicely but I'm looking forward to the above too.
on that note too, on a restart....the f4 kernel pumps loads of loading text to the screen. Can that be suppressed or hidden? Never happened with the uberkernel?
cheers
Andy
F4 is a beta kernel, uber is a release/stable kernel. Did you read up about testing feeds before enabling? That text is to help testers document what is going on and when, so I highly doubt anyone will be hiding it anytime soon.
Sent from my very "non-stock" TP.
feeds have all been thoroughly digested mate, didn't realise that uber was a stable build.....I thought it was beta......sorry

i'm having issues with ssh to the touchpad after the upgrade. it stopped working with the key I had, so I generated a new one. now it wants to input a password in the key (when ssh'ing) even though it was not set up with one. any ideas?
Also, many of the preware openssh packages seem to core dump or don't work at all.

I cant say what exactly that file does... but I can tell you that I deleted that, and many others with "htc" in the filename, and have suffered no adverse effects so far..
**edit**
If you do delete them and you're on a stock firmware, make sure you back them up just in case. If you flashed a ROM, you can always just pull them from the ROM if you need them back for whatever reason.
**edit2**
I am running a Senseless ROM, all the Sense stuff replaced with AOSP stuff... So, you may want to research it before deleting it if you use Sense.

[ROM][4.2.2][WIP][Alpha] SmartisanOS 22JAN2014

Ok guys. I'm posting this with hopes that I can get a little help on it. This is just a port and is VERY much an Alpha, so don't come and complain because things no worky.
Don't flash unless you know what you're doing!
If you brick your phone because you did something stupid, don't blame me.
Things that work-
It boots.
Soft keys(although they don't light up)/hard keys.
Proximity sensor.
Rotation.
Sound.
Vibration.
Things that don't work-
Phone/data/signal.
Bluetooth.
Wifi sort of works, it turns on and will scan successfully, but unable to connect.
Softkey lights.
Pretty sure GPS although I haven't tested it.
Storage is almost working.(Reads internal storage, but is linked wrong. Should be fixed next build.)
Camera- See above ^^
Probably more.
Like I said, it is just a preview and I am hoping to get someone on board that is able to help out.
One of the big things would be an updated 4.2.2 kernel WITHOUT SELinux. So if you know your way around kernel source and are feeling frisky, I wouldn't mind a kernel

Okay for data/signal depending on how they have their framework setup you need to add all your CM RIL from cm telephony-common.jar Decompile it and look for all the smalis with RIL in the name and phonefactory. Smali add all those smalis to smartisan telephony-common.jar /com/android/internal/telephony that should give you functioning data or a start to phone a radio log would help btw
Storage is related to storage-list.XML in framework-res.apk use the one from CM for your device(should resolve camera also but I recommend using Gallery2.apk from CM since it will 100% work)
Soft key lights is in Framework-res .apk /res/values/arrays.xml that controls button brightness and brightness levels/vibration
What device was this ported from?

I was able to get storage working for the most part. File manager shows everything at least. Camera and Gallery work, but Gallery only shows pictures that were taken after ROM was installed and doesn't show anything that is already on the device. I replaced the config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues with the ones from CM. Still a no go for the button lights but that's not anything major haha. Tried copying the ril files you mentioned and now it won't let me open settings.
