I got an lg marquee for sprint (ls855) for free and I want to root. I'm pretty sure its updated as its on gingerbread 2.3.4. Is there any way to root it or flash it to boost easily if it can be rooted that way. I can't find any way to do it and I really want it rooted and/or on boost. Thanks for the help guys

I've been searching for some time now. My other phone is the Boost LG Marquee and from what I've read if your phone has been updated as of now you will not be able to root the phone. I also read that to root our phones we would have to restore the old version before the update. From there I believe super oneclick will work.
My problem is finding instructions to restore the older version.

Hello all, I just rooted my ota 2.3 EVO using the new revolutionary. I got root, awesome. Did a back up and them tried installing a new Rom. I tried the synergy rc1 and rc2 and after booting either one I get constant Android force closes. Any ideas or maybe the best roms?
I did a search first and found nothing so any help gets a big thank you.

Also, should I stay with 2.3 or use the ruu thing and go back to 2.2?
And yes, I am a root noob

Did you install an recovery menu? Isnt your evo running revoked root?
I rooted for first time yesterday using the new revolutionary s-off. During root I was prompted to install clock something and did so. I also made a backup that I have used successfully after the failed Rom. I assume I have recover because I can access it from the bootloader

dude be more specific
Its common for OTAs to remove root access. Sometimes root can be preserved using OTA Rootkeeper, but it would have to be installed before installing the OTA. Check in the forums for your phone to see how to root it. Its also possible the OTA patched the root exploit that you used before.

You'd better find the appropriate forum on XDA for the phone and try to revert to a pre-OTA version. How did you verify that you've lost root, have you tried a terminal emulator and SU into root to verify?
More details will probably be most helpful
I have lg marqee, got update from sprint that took away root

I was given a rooted phone and then recently through Kies, i upgraded to 4.1.2.
This obviously removed my rooted status!!
So i now want to re-root and was wondering before i do, has upgrading totally removed all the old root data(!)?
I'm a tech novice and was wondering should i use the S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT program or use another method?
Someone told me i should not have been able to upgrade with Kies as my phone was rooted, is this true?
I have backed up everything using Titanium Backup
Thanks for ur help.
Just root it using any method you like
Hmm you had root to begin with? Kies doesn't update rooted phones.. as for rooting, there's an easy guide on the general forum you may wanna have a look at.

root using auto root with odin,,, fastest and easiest way
DO NOT USE TOOLKITS. They take away the learning process plus half of them are ****e anyway!

Try to root again, check 2nd post
Be happy
Make the root, it only loses the Samsung warranty, however leaves your phone the way you want. Install a custom ROM.
Thank you people. Now fully rooted and smiling

Hi I got the DNA about a month ago and I love it but I really want to root it and install the m7 Rom. I've done a little research and know my firmware needs to be 1.x.x.x but I have the newest version. How do I downgrade and what's the easiest way to root? Thanks for the assistance
You can not root your phone at this point in time. Aside from sending it to someone to open it up and s off through jtag.

I have followed the directions to the letter. It won't root. Any ideas?
Is your build number 11c? If it is you can LGNPST back to stock 10o and then root. Or if you look around I saw a method that can root 11c.

Got it rooted. Nocturnal ROM installed, but the AT&T apps are still there. I thought that ROM deleted them. Everything else is right. I used version 1.5.

Hi Torquerules, I'm curious if you actually use lgpnst to downgrade to 10o first or you're using that newer root method that can root straight from 11c ?
I rooted straight from 11c. I will have to search for the root method I used. It was easy.

Actually, I think it was this one. I downloaded and tried so many, I can't remember...
