Did you set correct permissions? Maybe that's the reason.

About your question, I'd say you need to search a little more.

Yeah... It's a tricky issue. Since device is odexed, all customizations don't work.
Eg. : if you replace only the battery icon/any icon in notification bar by a flashable zip....notification will disappear and will cause lag and graphics disorder in the device.
Solution :
Flash the original system ui.apk. Mere replacing the apk and setting permission might not work.

Isn't it flashing systemui.apk and replacing it, setting permission works same?
During flashing you extract to /system/app and set the permissions.

100% same. But during live replacement it will end up in a tornado of fc on system ui.apk. So I prefer flashing system stuffs to avoid "this and that" fc.

Are you sure it is safe?
Can there be malicious code or spyware in it?
It comes from someone in China?
PS I am asking because it does not come from someone we know. Sounds like you found this on a Chinese website.
PPS I actually am a bit excited that a solution has been found.

Works good. Removes annoying sim card message but it messes up lock screen shortcuts. It puts default shortcuts back in and it won't allow you to change them. I'm on 4.03.605.2. You could ask the guy in China to fix it, maybe?

Nils' Rom is deodexed, so there will not be any odex files in it.
Deodexing combines the apk with the associated odex file.

[Q] How to remuve menus from settings.apk?

i want to ask if any body tried already to remove menus from settings like i want to hide the about phone on stock settings.apk deodexed on jb 4.2 i want to get rid of some menus in my settings i ported dakele os to mtk6589 so i would like to ask if how to? since it is a ported rom some of the menus are not a feature of my stock rom and i want to hide or remove them just to prevent boot loop for example like this in the attachment below i want to get rid of the ad block or sensor_cali .. ..
i badly need help kinda excited to release my ported rom hehe
TIA:good::fingers-crossed:
uppdate: ive done some experement in settings_header.xml i tried to change the name of about phone to phone only and it works so my conclusion is settings_headers changes the appearance of the settings menu
I have not used ICS or JB much but it's possible.
I know exact process of how to do that on GB but not ICS. You'll have to decompile Settings.apk and look for the xml which controls the layout of app.

Which tool are you using to compile apps? And System apps don't need to be signed. Maybe that's the problem.
If you want, you can check out Ultimate Guide in Android Development Section which shows how to correctly compile system apps. Its sticky(noun, not an adjective ) there

Most likely the framework res. Could be the settings apk but I am almost sure it is the framework-res.

A novice question: How do I change permissions in ES File Explorer?
I receive a "Sorry, operation failed" message whenever I try to modify the .apk file.
Of course, I cannot edit/delete the original SuperStamina.apk in system/app from the very beginning.
Not sure if this is the result of a locked bootloader?
I am on the eXistenZ Ultra 1.3.7 ROM.
Thanks.

At first you have to mount system partition as Read/Write (R/W) mode, while its by default Read Only (R/O).
I dont know if you can make that in ES File Explorer. When not, use Root Explorer.
Btw. Great Work. Works perfect on eXistenZ Ultra ROM
I dont know exactly if thats also "fault" of new Superstamina app, but I have seen that (i had this setting always on but didnt see any diffrence) automatic screen backlight WORK for me now.
I'll like to comment that the mod doesn't seem to be working. The LED does indeed light up when stamina mode is selected but the estimated standby time seems to be incorrect (it showed ~4 days standby time after initial use of the mod but today only 23 hours, both instances on 100% battery).
