Hello.
I'm looking for a video application that lets you browse your phone/sdcard like a file manager and click on the video files that you want to play.
I know RockPlayer can do this but I wanted to try something else. Does anyone know an app similar to RockPlayer?
Thanks!
Try Mobo Player

Thanks, but it didn't work as I wanted it to. Basicaly I have a few videos that I do not want to show up in the defualt video app so I have put a ".nomedia" file in the folder where these videos are located.
Mobo player found all of these anyway and saved them for easy access.
RockPlayer is perfect really but I'm just fealing a little paranoid I guess, because it has the "Phone Call" permission. Why would a normal video app want to "read phone state and identity"? I'm not sure how it works.

i'm having the same problem and i can't find any real answer, sgs2 supports playing mkv's, but when trying to play using allshare it doesn't.
i tried a stupid way which doesn't make any sense just rename the file at the end with .avi
even it's a mkv. it will be played.
but then the rename should be done from the pc or if u have a wifi explorer that can do the trick.
hope this helps
If you use Serviio, it should be able to recode it to a suitable container on the fly.
The only way I know how to play mkv's the closest to the way you want is to use Skifta as a Allshare replacement and a different video player. I personally use MX Video Player. Both are better then the stock apps they replace

Guys try Arkmc
It's much better than Samsung's ****y allshare app

I'm looking for a music player that won't scan for music & use its own browser software... I want one that will allow you to manually browse the folders on your sd card for music.

There a, song I really want that's on Youtube, is there any way I can just download the audio with a app?

Not with the app, however, there are YouTube to mp3 converters on the internet. I think there is even one on the market

http://www.youtube-mp3.org/
i've used that one in the past. works really well if you want to use your computer
Use JetVD. www.jetvd.com Download the regular version for the option to save both video or audio. Its free. Its an Android app. You have download from the website because the market app is only the lite version.

I use real player to download mp3's from YouTube. It allows you to download the video then has options to convert it to multiple different formats

TubeMate works quite well. You can download videos (even in mp3 format as well) straight to your device. I couldn't find it on the market, but it's a free app so I'll share the apk.

Hi,
1) I tried to look at the video site from OEAMTC (Austrian Touring Club) - http://tv.oeamtc.at -and the stock browser is not able to playback the videos there.
Actually I tried Doplhin and Opera as well, same issue. WIth Mozilla I could finally playback (very laggy) and download the files. They are .webm videofiles and can playback with ALL video Appy I have on my phone. Stock as well as QicPic and MX Player.
I also could playback the files when using the stock internet browser on my Nexus S, so any idea why the stock browser on SGS2 makes troubles on these videos???
2.) When opening the accuweather from the widged, then going to more / details, it always opens accuweather in english, altough I set my preference on accuweather homepage to german. Is there any setting identifying the browser to prefer german????? Any setting in Accuweather application that brings up the webpage in German? haven't found anything.
Thanks
Gescha
Can anyone confirm the behavior??

I found out the following:
.webm files cannot be opened with stock file manager, as they seem not to be known (unknown filetype) altough they are known by Rhytm Software'S Filemanager (and can be opend as Video file) or as they can be associated with Astro File Manager.
Is there any way to tell the Samsuns System that this file is a videofile and should be opend with e.g. MX PLayer? I guess then I can directly stream it from Internet application....
Any ideas?
Can anyone check.. would really like to know if this behaviour is normal...
In the meantime I do not expect that there is a possible fix.

ya there is a way..
go to my files and select any video file..
click on it..
a pop-up should appear asking you which program should be used to play the file..
check the use as default button and then select the mx player..
from now on whenever you play a video.. it will open in mx player unless you open it via gallery
also while streaming online you cant select a particular app through which the browser will play the vid..

Thanks. Actually for general purpose I could link MX Player to the .webm fileformat, and that also works.
For the Samsung Stock file browser as well as internet browser it still and immediately tells: this file type not supported, no program can run it....(and this although on astro file manager its already assigned to MX player.) So not even a chance to assign it by the normal way...

is there any music player that doesn't automatically scan all the sd card?
i listen to audiobooks on my phone too and currently using winamp but it lists all the audiobook files as well as the my music tracks which is a bit annoying. tried stock player which has the same behaviour.

why don't you set folder view in winamp...you can select sibgle folder to play
Power Amp. You can select the folder for your mp3 and it will scan only them.

There are other options too.
MIXZING for example it has both the functions that you need.scan a particular folder as well as play by folder.
U can give it a try but nothing beats power amp.using it from a long time.if you can afford it just go for it.
Edit: mixzing is free
Sent from my GT-I5800
unfortunately i can't afford poweramp but I'll give mixzing a try, thanks

well mixzing seemed perfect, love the interface but it doesn't play flac!!! such a pity because it seems a great player apart from that.
