Trying to flash phone to stock, I think it's bricked? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I can't get it to flash, gives me an error "Failed Flashing Process 1/11 flash cdt.bin "cdt.bin_si..." I had it rooted, uninstalled everything with the root, unrooted, wouldn't let me update to ICS, so I was just going to flash to stock and do it, and now this. I'm starting to panic a little, as I can't even get it to boot. I thought I had the right files, but now I'm not so sure. I have an XT912, it's a Vzw Razr, not the Maxx. I just want to go to stock GB, so I can go up to ICS. I had 2.3.6 update installed. I really need this phone for tomorrow, so any and all help is very much appreciated.
I'm using RSD Lite to flash this buy the way
My fastboot file is called "SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-73_SPU-11-M1-2_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTCEE_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml"

Go to droidrzr.com under RAZR cdma and development section. Look for Matt's 1.7 utility and download and run the flash to stock. Make sure Motorola drivers are installed before flashing.
They are in the file when you unzip it.

Okay, thank you. Right now, I'm downloading the VRZ_XT912_6.51-73_DHD-11_TA-3_1FF_02.XML.zip files, to flash with the RSD lite utility. Will this do the same thing, or should I go with Matt's 1.7 utility instead?
Actually, this looks like the tool I used to root. Can I use his new 1.81 utility and just use the ICS Fastboot files, to go straight to ICS?

I have yet to get rsd-lite to fully flash to my phone. Matt's utility does work.
Not sure what gb version you are on, look to the earlier builds of the RAZR utility to install earlier builds.

Yeah, I think I accidentally grabbed the EU version of the files, instead of the US version. Anyhow, I'm just flashing the ICS official files, as that was my goal anyhow. I figure if it doesn't work at this point, it's not like I'm really losing anything by trying. It's good to know that I'm not the only one that the RSD flasher has given issues though.

I installed the official ICS, and now it won't do anything. No screen, holding power does nothing, can't boot to safestrap, nothing. It booted once, had an android guy with some blue shape spinning, a progress bar filled up, and then it restarted. Went to the DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY screen, then goes to black. Then nothing. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I could cry. I figured out that if I hold the vol down and power, it'll restart, but just does the same thing. What am I doing wrong?? I don't understand it at all.

Have you used Matt's utility yet?

I tried his 1.81 utility, no go. Someone on another site said they'd seen a similar case, and I need to use the 1.6 version, and then follow the update path from there. I'm downloading that right now.
My battery isn't dead yet, but I have no way of charging it (Going into BP Tools from the fastboot menu does me nothing), so it's just a matter of time. I really wish I could just go to bed, but I need this phone for my morning commute, as I'm really not familiar with the area.

You need gingerbread utility then ota if you want from there.

Yeah, after running the 1.6 utility it booted, and I'm now doing the OTA's to get to ICS. Thanks for all of the help, and I must also say that the folks over at droidrzr.com were incredibly helpful as well.
Thanks again

I bought a X2 off of CL... partial root?

I just picked up a X2 off of CL and it seems to have a partial root (if there is such a thing). It has SuperUser on it but no CWM recovery installed. Where do I go from here? I have tried to do a factory reset and the SU remains there. I would like to get the thing fully rooted with some custom recovery/ROM awesomeness....
There is no such thing. If it has SU then its probably rooted. Look for an app that says system recovery. If you wiped then it probably gone. It needs to be reinstalled. It installs like an APK with options to install recovery and a recovery mode and a charge mode. The recovery can be found in DEV section with any of the rooting guides.

Superuser gets killed if your phone got an over the air (OTA) update from Verizon. Easy to fix, all you need to do is SBF to 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 and use the one click root method to root then install boot strap recovery if you want to install a custom ROM.
Search the development X2 forum for the SBF Tutorial. It will explain step by step instructions.

He speaks the truth. Worked for me
Recommend starting on SBF 2.3.4 and use the OneClickRoot to root it afterwards. Just make sure that after flashing stock 2.3.4 to set the phone from Charge Only to PC Sync and allow debugging (Settings -> Applications -> Development) so OneClick can see your phone.
Recommend installing System Recovery afterwards. System Recovery lets you boot into a CWM recovery mode, and of course, flash unsigned .zips (ROMS) Note: Just a heads up, you can't boot into the tweaked System Recovery unless the USB is plugged in the AC outlet or a car charger. I found that... as a minor speed bumping when getting it to work.
If you are unsure how to use the SBF with RSDLite let us know and we will help you run through that.
SBF 2.3.3 then one click root
I would start off with the SBF for 2.3.3 and then the one click root. The leaked version of 2.3.4 has battery issues still as far as I know.
There is an official 2.3.4, not just the "leaked" Soak Test version.

now that you bring that up, let's say the OTA has a few minor fixes. Would the people who SBF'd get the latest version via the OTA?

That is good to know I SBF to the leaked version and then ended up flashing back to 2.3.3. I must of missed the oficcial 2.3.4 sbf. Can you let me know what link that was in? I would like to try the new eclipse at some time soon and would like to have the official sbf and not the leaked version. Thanks for the correction.
Thanks everyone!
Off to SBF something!

According to them this is the unofficial "official" SBF release of unmodified 2.3.4.

Try one more factory reset after you flash. That has happened to me before but goes away after the second factory reset.

Ics fastboot files out?

Just like the title asks. Are they something that we have to wait for?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
They aren't completely necessary. The are just very useful if you are a crack flasher. Without those, if you softbrick your phone, you have to flash the .181 files and then flash .211 in order to fix it.
ok. Its because I was trying to trade phones with my gf and verizon couldn't get her number to work on the razor. I wanted to completely wipe out the phone from root and messing with 3g/4g connection.
how do I clean up the phone without them.

The OP mentioned Verizon, so he's prolly on CDMA razr and those fastboot files would most def brick it.
@OP: Try droidrzr . com

dead android

Long story...But in short, I bricked my razr just before ICS was released, ripped the battery ribbon...Now after using Matt's 1.7 utility when I try to go into recovery I get an android lying on his back with his body opened and an exclamation point. I really need some help. Please.
Try to use RSD and flash in ICS. I dont know if u have CDMA or GSM razr but if u have GSM flash in this via rsd lite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747800

Download matts utility 1.8.1 and choose option 1, the dead android you see is ics recovery. If press vol^and volume down when you see that it will allow you into recovery or ap fast. How did you brick did you try and side load ics from gb? You have ice recovery..
When that Android pops up just hold both volume button's at the same time to get recovery to show up

That fixed it. I didn't need to download 1.81. Thanks a bunch, it's going to be nice getting back to my Razr, I had to go back to my X while I was waiting.
Glad to see you fixed it,
first time i ran into that it took me a second to figure it out also

Just got a Razr Maxx. Now what?

Just picked up a Razr Maxx from Verizon and I've been a Samsung/HTC guy for a while and I'm a little nervous about rooting and flashing. My last motorola phone was a X2...I hate that whole sbf/rsd lite process...been loving my unlocked boot loaders.
Anyway, can someone just verify the way to go about this? I'm assuming most ROMs are now bases off the .211 firmware.
Take a look at my screen shot. I'm assuming I put the drivers and rsd onto the PC...then root...slap on bootstrap and flash? I saw somewhere where a different recovery was needed to flash and would cause a brick if not used. Safe strap? Also would like clarification on kexec. Is this built into the ROMs? And what's boot menu?
Thanks in advance for the help guys.
*********EDIT*********
Ok, I went ahead just just Rooted and threw Eclipse on my RAZR. Its booting now. I still have questions on how to use RSD. I'm noticing MOTO doesnt use SBF fies anymore. I also would like to know about Safestrap vs. Bootstrap and which is better to use. And how does kexec work. I know what it does...but is there a seperate zip to flash on top of a rom? or does the rom include it when you flash it? I would really appreciate it if someone cleared it up for me.

Most all of the cdma development uses safestrap.
You cannot use two recoveries at once.
Matt's 1.81 utility is the easiest way to flash back to stock or to root. It can be found at droidrzr.com under RAZR development under cdma section.
Most of the rom development is over there too.
Make sure you have complete files, factory cable, and a healthy charge when flashing.
Also read the safestrap thread over there.

[Q] Droid Razr Maxx stuck on Bootloop. Edited the Build.prop incorrectly.

Hi All,
I have a Droid Razr Maxx (Verizon) which was on 4.1.2 OTA update. I tried to edit the build.prop and messed up. The phone turns on to the Red Moto logo, later goes into the typical Droid Razr graphics and is stuck there for ever (Stuck on Booting?). I am able to enter into recovery, thankfully.
Now can anyone suggest a way to flash only the build.prop to restore it?
Else, can you point me to stock XT912M 4.1.2 so that I can flash getting into recovery?
Or is there is a better way that I could get out of this mess?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sid

you might want to try using rsd to fully restore the phone. That would also fix your issue. I have done this lots of times. Before you start make sure your phone is charged. Or you will have to buy a USB cable that allows the phone to work with the computer with out charging.
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk
In order to flash only build.prop you need to be able to start an adb session and then push the file, or use aroma which executes after boot menu manager so it is not a choice since you can't pass from red logo.
Easier way is rsd flashing a service rom so it will not delete so many files.
