I am looking for the most recent stock ROM that has the original Swype in it (not the Beta version). Yes, I know I am being extremely picky here. I'm rooted and s-off on one of the older builds that my phone originally came with. I thought if I used one of the newer rooted versions that it would have the original Swype, not the Beta installer. Any help or guidance on how I could achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly the new base 2.13 broke Swype that's why everyone is going to the beta version

Hi All,
I am currently running Liberated Aria Froyo Series FR008 as described in the below thread by attn1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715
Now, I want to upgrade it to CyanogenMod 7 as described in the below thread as it has v2.3 of Andriod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297547
I was reading the instruction mentioned in the below thread and asking to set S-OFF for hboot and advised to use revolutionary.io tool. but i have v0.57 of hboot where as revolutionary.io is talking about v1.02 hboot.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Aria:_Full_Update_Guide
I am seeing similar kind of threads but am confused and not sure if mine is the same problem as others. So, could you please guide me installing CM7 on my phone?
Installed version on my Phone
Andriod Version - 2.2
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.17-cyanogen-liberty
Thanks A Lot,
Harsha.
Hi All,
I have installed HTC ROM 2.2 which updated hboot to v1.02.
I've installed v7.1 package as described in the below link (now my phone is rebooting. Hoping everything goes correctly)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297547
Thanks,
Harsha
If you already have Clockworkmod installed via Unrevoked, then you do not need to update to HBOOT 1.02 or use Revolutionary to obtain S-OFF. There are additional benefits to having S-OFF, so you may want to do it anyway, but Cyanogenmod 7 will work just fine with S-ON and HBOOT 0.57. It's simply a matter of going into Clockworkmod, wiping everything from the device, and installing the Cyanogenmod ROM in its place.
I know it doesn't matter now that you've already done it, but I wanted to point this out in case anyone else with the same question sees this thread.

Thanks drumist for clarifying things. Now, i'm definitely understanding things a little bit more
Here are my observation after 24 hours of usage on v2.3 andriod -
Pros:
1. Its definitely faster than my earlier ROM which is based on v2.2. Probably its because of absence of HTC Sense UI.
2. Enabling/Disabling Wifi is faster now.
3. Inbuilt FileManager. This is a must have feature. Glad its inbuilt now.
4. Videos play smoothly now (.avi). Don't if this is because of v2.3 ROM or is it because of new player (MX Video player) i've installed.
Kind of Cons: (These are not complaints. Just my observations which i feel to be missing in my new ROM)
1. In my Earlier ROM, when i start dialing the number, beneath it shows list of contacts starting with those corresponding names. (I am definitely missing this feature. I hope some one already has a solution to it.)
2. Missing HTC Sense Inbuilt widgets like SMS Viewer,Photo Album
3. Setting Alarms, especially scrolling hours/minutes thru finger swipe is missing.
And last but not least, thanks to CyanogenMod and all the other devlopers/testers who participated in developing this ROM and making it successful.
Thanks,
Harsha.
Sense and Cyanogenmod come with different dialer apps. I don't think it's possible to install the Sense dialer in Cyanogenmod (for the same reason you can't use Sense widgets, etc.). However, you can download different dialer apps from the Android Market and use them in place of the default one that came with Cyanogenmod. Search the Market for "dialer" and a few should show up. One of them might have the feature you want. (I've never used any of them though, so I don't know how good they are.)

Some things don't work (read the first post) but it should be useable if you don't need any of those features.
Hey guys, been awhile but i want to come back to Android for awhile. I have had the Evo 4G since release but went to an iPhone for work. If i could have a super quick refresher course I would appreciate it. I'll post below where I'm currently at if I could just get a point in the next step. I know all my stuff is way out dated.
Stock w/goodies 2.01 (not even sure if it's still supported)
Kernel 3.0.8 (not even sure if it's custom or stock to be honest)
baseband 1.12.11.0809
build 2.13.651.1
PRI 2.45_003
PRL 25006
S-Off HBOOT 1.12.222 btw
Yes I am fully aware of the search option but it's so cluttered unless you asked the right questions lol. If I could get a point in the right direction i don't mid doing the leg work. thanks and good to finally be back on Android!!

First of all you have missed a couple firmware updates, but since you are s-off head to captains thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704612) and do one firmware update at a time, note that the latest update 3.16 comes without the touch panel driver update this because AOSP Roms and some old TWRP versions don't work with this new touch panel update you need to be on the 3.15 touch panel driver, if you are going to use stock with goodies I suggest you do this update, your touch panel willl be more responsive, by the way you should update TWRP as well the new version is 2.5. Navigation doesn't work on some jelly bean roms on some phones, it just crashes, no fix as of today, use telenav, waze or scout

Thank you! amazing how fast this all came back to me. Already updated and Dl'ing stock with goodies. going to nose around and see what else is out there since I left though.
Hey,
So I usually dont have many questions, but I have not updated my DNA in a very long time Currently I am running
Android Version
4.1.1
Sense Version
Sense 4+
Rom Version
ViperDna 1.3.5
I am running TWRP 2.6.0.0 and I think I am running DSB kernel but really cant remember because its been so long, phone is unlocked and S-ON.
I am looking to update to 3.5.0 which looks to be the latest one available, I have a hard time telling because there is no order in the threads regarding the updates that have been released,
I seen it says that you need TWRP BETA .6 which I have downloaded, and I have already downloaded 3.5.0 Rom.
So now my question is, what kernel do I need in order to install these on my device without issue, and in what order do I need to update them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
I still have my unlock token bin saved, maybe it would be faster and easier to re lock the phone, update to stock OTA kitkat and then install 3.5.0? Looks like a custom kernel isn't necessary in the install instructions?
Let me know, thanks again in advance
*Bump*
My specs:
SCH-I545
Android 4.2.2
Baseband: I545VRUAMDK
Kernel: 3.4.0-562219
[email protected] #1
Build Number: JDQ39.I545VRUAMDK
Rooted
CWM Recovery Installed
My questions:
1. I've found many threads and great instructions for installing CyanogenMod. I'm still having difficulty separating the wheat from the chaff - Which version should I use for my phone, given that I'm an MDK still running 4.2.2?
2. Which version of Gapps will I need for that version of CyanogenMod?
3. If the answers to the previous questions are NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT, is there a way for me to update my Android Version to the most current, and THEN flash CyanogenMod?
I understand that there are resources out there to get this done. I've searched and found most of them. I'm just not entirely clear on which version is most appropriate for my phone, which by most standards here is somewhat pristine in that it's still running MDK, and a bit outdated in that it's running on 4.2.2. Please be gentle with me. I'm just trying to get up to speed and be productive in this forum. Thanks for your help!!

1) You need to download a nightly version of CM, I would advise reading the thread over there to see which one is the most stable before flashing. From what I've heard though CM has been very buggy.
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jflte&type=nightly
2) You should download the latest version of KitKit's GApps
https://goo.im/gapps/ ( gapps-kk-20140606 )
3) Happy flashing.

1. Ok. Does CM 11 differ from 10.x in that it isn't compatible with kit Kat? Does it matter what OS I'm running in terms of what version of CM I flash? Can you recommend any particularly stable Roms?

6.0.4.7 is kitkat comp.
Personally, I run the Google Edition ROM, but Ive run CM11, and it works equally well, and had all the CMish stuff. *Some* issues with mms on cm.
In the CM11 thread is a link for CWM 6.0.5.0. I have successfully flashed CM11 with versions as early as 6.0.4.4. There are no KK compatible (meaning they work with everybody) but the most up to date is recommended. The latest nightlies have been very good. The only issue I currently experience is compass orientation is off by 180°. Maps and navigation work properly. I would recommend using the NC5 or NG6 modem only for best results. Don't flash a modem+nonhlos later than MDK, flashing a later modem only is fine and will cause no problems. Because of the kernel and code changes over the last couple months you will want a newer modem to prevent BT/WiFi/Mobile Data issues. Before you flash make a nandroid and be sure to clean flash since you are coming from a different ROM. As for Gapps they are all written by Google so Gapps are Gapps. I use the Paranoid Android flavor, they have also been updated just a few days ago.
Happy Flashing!!
FernBch, thank you for the excellent summary. That is all very useful info, and I feel way more confident about doing all this now thanks to you all.
OK last question - Is there a way for me to update my OS to 4.4 without losing my MDK status? If so, where can I find a procedure for doing that??
You guys rock. Seriously. Thank you!!

For a stable ROM I would recommend either the Google Play Edition ROM or The Dan's CM ROM.
Also you asked about not losing MDK, you won't lose MDK when flashing those ROMs just be sure to NOT take any OTA updates and you should be fine.
Thank you SkrillaKev! I've hunted a bit to find a thread that explains how to disable OTA but can't seem to find it.
I'm sure it'll pop up.
Hopefully soon - those daily OTA reminders are super annoying!
FernBch, regarding your 180deg compass issue, have you tried third party kernels? I've been fighting this issue for over a year and gave up. I had with stock, stock based, and any other roms I ever tried. Been running GPE rom for some time now, decided to give ktoonsez kernel a try. Compass problem solved! Worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.

None of the third party kernels work with the latest CM nigbtlies that I know of. When CM made the code and kernel changes they all quit working. As far as I know no one has updated them to work with the latest versions.
^^Good point. Completely forgot that change took place.
Maybe this device will get the support it needs at some point. Maybe not.

Older versions of the HK mod required special firmware to work, and I'm pretty sure that is the cause of your issue (as not flashing the right firmware results in the audio bug symptoms you describe).
Flashing a ROM that corresponds to your current firmware is the easiest fix. But as SD v2 is quite old, I'm also guessing your firmware is also old, and should be updated if you want to flash the latest ROMs.
Is the phone s-on or s-off? What hboot number? Both of these are shown on the bootloader screen.
