Well, actually I'm using a custom rom, based on GB, because I've been having the same problem with EVERY ROM based on ICS (Stock or Custom).
I honestly don't know why does it happen, my problem is... Every time I've tried an ICS-based Rom, my WiFi disconnects itself all the time. It goes out and comes back after a few seconds every time it wants to, and it doesn't matter at all how far or near I am of my router.
I never had that problem with Gingerbread. Is it a problem with DNS, IP or something like that? Can I just use an app to fix that?
At least I would like to know what happens, thanks everybody in advance!

Maybe change your wlan to b/g and not b/g/n, that had solved it for me
Had your bootloader unlocked? What kernel are you using?

eltonpestana: Is it possible to change the baseband in this phone?
mihahn: My WiFi is already in b/g mode /:
gouthamthemostwanted: My bootloader doesn't allow unlocking, so I am using the stock Kernel -.-
If you are using the stock kernel are you sure you flash ics kernel prior flashing the ics Rom?
If you flash ics kernel.sin using flashtool and still experience problems on WiFi then go through the updater-script of the Rom and make sure permissions are set right and this symlink is present
symlink("/data/etc/wifi/wl1271-nvs.bin","/system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin");
I use rage kernel and removing this symlink from updater-script made my WiFi not to work . I don't know whether will it work with stock ics kernel but it's worth a shot.
Sent from my smultron using xda app-developers app
Ok, I'll be honest with you. I don't know what the updater-script is, and I never tried to flash a kernel because my bootloader is still locked
I think the problem is on your router. Change the channel and mode and also disable the wireless security. See what happen......

To flash the stock Sony kernel you don't need a unlocked bootloader . If you don't flash ics kernel for ics Rom I'm sure it won't work properly. I won't even boot properly in the first place.
Below is the stock ics firmware for st15i
http://www.mediafire.com/?wot47vumhstlc4h
Flash the above mentioned ics firmware using flashtool before flashing any ics Rom.
I hope you know what a flashtool is and how to flash your device using it.

Flash back on gingerbread and see if wifi is working well. If yes, you know it's not related to your router.
It's a known problem on ics by sony that wifi isn't working well, but there's no working fix as far as I know...

Yeah... I know what flashtool is, I have used it too many times. But I never heard about flashing the stock kernel, I thought the kernel was automatically updated when you install the ICS tft. I'll try it anyway.

Actually, as I said, in GB I never had that problem, and I don't know what to do yet.
Maybe this can help...
Here are the updater-script files of the ROM's that I have recently used.
If there's something incompatible with my phone or if there's something I can do with them to fix the problem, I'd be glad to know it
I'll let you know man . I'll go through them . It's 12 in the morning here

Haha it's ok, take your time. Thank you
I just skimmed through both the updater-scripts and I don't find anything wrong there. What ftf file you used for ics? Is it regional customization or world customization?

I'm currently running stock 2.3.3 from SE (through Rogers in Canada) with baseband 2.1.71 (rooted since it was released)
I planned on installing CM7 on my phone so I decided to unlock my bootloader so that it is ready when I eventually do so. I used FlashTool 0.6.7.0 to unlock it and it ran without any problems.
However I'm unable to turn Wi-Fi on. It only says "Error" and I'm not too sure what's wrong. I tried searching for answers but others with same issues were using custom ROMs while I'm still on stock.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this? If you're missing any information to be able to help me, please let me know and I will post them. (I have about a week to fix this as I'll be leaving on vacation and I'll need wifi working)
Thanks!
If you have really opened bootloader, for such device special kernels are necessary (stock or custom). Flash by FlashTool one of such ftf-kernels, then install with utility xRecovery the module wi-fi for this kernel.
The author of each ROM recommends, what kernels to use and gives the link on downloading.
just look for the kernel tht is meant for unlocked bootloader tht should work with stock rom n then flash kernel via flashtool n wifi modules file through xrecovery ur wifi will work
Which kernel u using? U prob need the relevant WiFi modules.

What do you mean with WIFI fixed? can your phone connect to your AP?
Did u install kernel provided by MiniCMSandwich? If not then you should..
What phone are you using?
My SK17i use MiniCMSandwich RC3 too..and got no problem with Wifi or Mobile Data..
According to me, this ROM works only with its own kernel, correct me if I am wrong.
Which network setting do you have? Does changing location help? Airplane mode?
Do you have correct kernel and ROM installed? What kind of error do you get? No service or what?
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
Make sure you
- flash the provided Kernel that comes with the ROM
- then full factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
- flash rom
I had to do it twice, Data didn't work on first try, I guess the Kernel flashing went wrong, but now everything works fine

APNs are not related to making calls at all. Changing these does not help.
May I ask how to flash a custom kernel on the sk17i? I flashed the MiniCMSandwhich ROM but i did it with the stock kernel, so it got stuck at the boot logo... So i need to know how to flash the right kernel to a sk17i.
Also, i think someone (maybe me if i manage to get MiniCM working) should make a tutorial on how to get MiniCM running starting at an unrooted phone updated to the latest stock Sony formware. I thing that that would be helpfull to a lot of people.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot, i saw and read your tutorial before, but i must have missed the kernel part , I think ill do that later today. But for now, there is no way of flashing a new kernel without unlocking the bootloader is there?

Nope, kernel can only be installed with unlocked bootloader.
As the title suggests, I recently tried all ICS kernels that I know and none of them booted to even the recovery screen before I got a WLOD. I really want to be on ICS so can someone please help?
I have tried all available ICS in this forum, but none of them seem to work properly or im flashing something wrong... So stick to GB for now and when you get a very stable kernel and ROM... flash that... as fas as i know Championswimmers AKOP port is almost done expect some data issues (thats what i red when i saw it last)... But if you decide to flash ICS, just amke sure you are using proper "Kernel"....
Happened the same to me with kcernel. What I did was flash a stock room with flashtool and then flash fxp-127 kernel, and that worked for me to instal remyICS.

After 6 hours on google im confused totaly.
There is hundreds or thousand posts about this problem and dozens "solutions" (personaly i tried 10 or 12 of them)
How is that possible can someone explaine me.
I mean in some roms wifi working normaly and in some wont.
What is changed in those roms, what is the problem?
Any help is apreciated.
It maybe kernel ralated .

I get this problem whenever I flash cm9 direct from the cm site. I was advised to go back to stock first and then flash cm. I flashed the 4.0.4 from boy racers ftf list, booted in Stock, powered off and flashed the baseband from the fxp thread, booted up. I then used cm9 from the fxp thread rather than cm9 site and got stable WiFi.
I like pratting about though, so I'm now on rooted stock 4.0.4 using the guide in this forum to create your own rom

Thanks guys, finally some answers.
Here is my situation, flashed JellySandwich 4.3 (so far perfect ICS for me), tried sirkays 7.431 (rom is developed and tested with that version) and flykernel 0.7 and flykernel 0.8.
Nothing, one or two connections, 200 tries.
Then, 6 hours before tried sirkays latest 9.587a, with him is better but stil half-half situation.
"If still the problem persists then flash kernel modules found on that thread !!" will try this, thanks.
Full wipe done, etc.
On repacked4ru rom for example everythings working perfect, never experienced single problem with wifi. (same ap,my home ap)
Once again, flashed with full wipe, cache wipe, dalwik cache wipe.
Tried multiple times, result is every time the same (also redownloaded rom) and tested same kernels with other roms, they dont cause problem by themself.
Router isnt problem.
But, that what realy frustrating me is this problem is very common on android but i didnt seen in hours of googling what realy causing him.
Tell me please guys, im a noob but not stupid and learning fast.
To cure some problem man must knows hims root, whats causing that problem.
What causing this very common problem on android, one or more things?
Thanks again (and sorry for my bad english, my english is learned from movies, music etc)
Try picking up a pure stock ftf file from boy racers thread. I have a copy of the last gb stock ftf and two stock ics ftfs stored on my pc so if I screw up, I have options. I had this problem of reconnect loops using cm9 as above and pretty much reverting back to stock was all that cured it. Once you've flashed stock you can then go about the business of putting jelly sandwich of whatever rom you want on. I've tried putting jelly sandwich on twice now have issues of my own so am sticking to rooted stock.

My questions still remains, that problem is obviously software related, how is possible no one knows reason why is this so common problem and whats a problem.

I Have same obtaining IP problem.Wifi problems started with official update to ICS.(on GB no wifi problem) Tried all possible "solutions".Nothing works... And finally? Use only WPA security on your router, but still some connection drops. Or buy new wifi router. From information I found. Older routers may have some new standards compatibility problems

Hi,
I have a problem making JB ROM to work on my Neo V. My situation is like this:
I have an MT11i with unlocked bootloader. I was trying to install MIUI v5 with Fusion Kernel v5.5 (latest version i believe). The installation finished without any problem. But after the first boot, my touchscreen doesn't work. I can't even select anything on the screen. It's not responding. Only buttons such as back, home, menu, vol up, vol down, power and camera does work, nothing more.
Here's how i do it :
1. Flash stock FTF,
2. Flash stock FTF again - without kernel and baseband (as suggested in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273017&page=16 comment #155)
3. I flashed Fusion Kernel v5.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926299)
4. Rebooted into CWM and installed the MIUI v5 3.6.21_v2
5. Finished installation, reboot into system
6. Stuck at MIUI Welcome Screen
I know this question has been asked elsewhere in the forum. I did searched for it. But i didn't found any thread that had this problem solved. FYI, i also have tried every JB kernels that i know (LuPUS, Fusion, TWRP and so on) but always got the same result.
My touchscreen works flawlessly if im using any ICS based rom. But not JB rom.
Does anyone had any idea what caused this? Can i still have the chance to install JB into my phone?

I am not sure if it is hardware issue. But why it would work without problem on ICS kernel and rom? I will try to get the logcat of it, though i think it would be difficult without being able to enable usb debugging on the MT11i.

Just now, i was able to pull the logcat output for several moments on the phone. Also, i have used AndroidSystemInfo hardware listing. But i am so new with reading the logcat file.
I have attached both file. See if someone could help me find out the cause.
I ended up using xperia ultimate HD rom 3.0.2 with Holo launcher. Turn up it did pretty well. Feels like JB though. Mybe i'll continue with the problem some other time. For now ill just be fine with this rom. Thanks anyway guys.
