[Q] Custom CPU Governor on Locked BL - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Is it possible to use custom cpu governor such as smartass etc
on Xperia S rooted but locked bootloader.

Possible, but quite difficult. You'll need to rebuild the stock kernel with the patch applied and the governor compiled as a module, then edit the vermagic to match the stock kernel perfectly and insmod.

Is possible to overclock sony s tablet cpu?
1. 2ghz? What do you recomend?
For that to be possible, we require open bootloader and kernel replacement, or a way to modify the current kernel to allow OC.
Also, this belongs to the Q&A thread.

[Q] Lulzactive governor for ICS XXLPQ

cant find any threads on this anywhere. just wondering if i can install lulzactive governor or smartass v2 governor on XXLPQ 4.0.3
and if theres any way of improving battery life (20% battery drop over night with wifi and data off)
Governors are kernel dependent, so probably no. You're stuck with whatever is in the ICS kernel.
wait until samsung release the source code so developers here can re-compile and add whatever governor u want ..
for now, we just can use the default kernel only ..
all right thanks

How do I overclock on the my phone..?

I have to overclock speeds over my phone I want.
Is only able to custom rom?
uhmmmmm i no understand.....lol
but NO its not the Rom its the kernel that allows OC/UV
So if want OverClock, Kernel Flash on phone that support. must Root
( i tried to type that so you would understand it )
Good luck bruh.
indeed flash a custom kernel you have. (sounds a bit like Yoda..)
In short - if you need to ask, then you shouldn't be doing it. You need to read up otherwise you'll come back in the future, saying you've fried your phone.
Like the others said though, you need a custom kernel that supports overclocking.
I wouldn't bother, it's a fast enough phone without the need to overclock it.
Flash a kernel that you can overclock like for instance Siyah kernel. Don`t overdo it though, 1600 Mhz is more than enough to get good performance and keep good battery life. Read the dev`s thread before you overclock to gather info and xperiences from other users.
To me he sounds like he wants 2 clocks on his phone. You need to add dual clock widget
Hi,
Yes, like said above you need a custom kernel wich allow overclocking... but you also need an app for set your CPU freq as you want... if I remember right even with a custom kernel, the CPU freq is the stock CPU freq after flashing (I mean no kernel with directly a 1.6 Ghz CPU freq, it's to the user to set the CPU freq).
Francisco's kernel has its own application, gokhanmoral's kernel has Extweaks, simone201's kernel has also an app, etc...
Or you can use a "generic" app like SetCpu, System Tuner, CPU Master, No frills, etc, etc...
Before flashing a new kernel read, read and read the dev section and the different method of flash, the different kernel threads...

[Q] Hoe to OC LWW with Locked bootloader?

Hello people, i bought a Sony Live with Walkman, but my Provider locked the bootlader, so i can't unlock it... And i was thinking if is there any way or some module to OverClock the CPU.. 'cause i've been searching a lot and i found only Kernels that make possible to OC the phone.. maybe i missed some thread where the info i need is... soo sorry for my english i'm from Argentina!
Nope, you can only overclock with custom kernels, and for that you need to unlock your bootloader, sorry :/
Overclocking is entirely dependent on the kernel . In stock Sony kernel you are not allowed to go past 1 GHz but you can underclock in stock kernel to increase stand by if you aren't a heavy user . To overclock it's always possible with a custom kernel but again nobody will advise you to overclock because it'll probably reduce your CPU's life , I've even seen people entirely busting their CPU by overclocking without prior knowledge. So be careful . You need a custom kernel with overclock support, to install a custom kernel you need a unlocked bootloader.
hit thanks if I've helped!
sent from my smultron
The pros vs cons in OC the cpu on a mobile phone are an depreciable increase of performance vs an shorter cpu life, I used to use my older x10mini pro with OC all in all the general user experience doesn't improve so much to risk the life of the phone.

[p769] cm12 that does not have anyover clocking

can anyone make a p769 cm12 that has no over clocking or ram hack as my phone will have a kernel panic becuase it does not like haveing stuff over clocked.
let's hope edwinmog make a build with optional overclock modules
MY P769 run 1.350GHz without no problem voltage -90
I have a T-Mobile version of the p769 and running cm11 and when. I try the over clock feature in the settings I get a kernal panic so I know my phone can't handel the CPU over clock idk about ram tho I can over clock my GPU and be just fine.
