No.
The device remains "unlocked" even after you upgrade to JB bootloader.

You can just use the US version already posted. There don't seem to be any discernible differences.

No, you get to select the keyboard you want when it boots... I saw lots of options, not just English US.
And in other threads people from all over Europe are saying it works fine. Works for me, I'm in Holland.
excellent thank you

I have a question. i read that unlocked bootloader offers the opportunite to flash allmost everything. My question now is how could i imagine this. Could you for example flash a full (port)rom of the arc onto your x10?Or must there be a whole new (special customized) rom for it? thanks in advantage

Yes opening up the bootloader opens up more possibilities for our X10s, but we still have to wait for devs to port roms over as the drivers etc. are different.

I was wondering how Carrier and Country affect getting updates? I have a Z Ultra 6802 (HK - came with Chinese apps) and haven't seen the 501 update on my phone yet and I really don't want to unlock the bootloader.
So I guess my ultimate question is: Will I get the update in the US while on AT&T? (I'm ok waiting, just want to know)
Thanks,
toonhead

Eventually. Or you can do what I did and flash a generic 510. Then use PC companion to repair if it doesn't work properly. When repaired, a new version of 510 is installed by Sony that works.

Look at the opening posts for both these threads. The first shows you how to flash the firmware that will need repair and the second will show you how to repair.

Hello there.
I'm thinking about buying this phone, but I'd like to know:
1. Is it possible to root the phone? I haven't found any info on xda, but there is something here --> http://en.miui.com/thread-215325-1-1.html Can someone confirm that it works?
2. What about ROMs? I see that most of the Xiaomi devices have some (mi3/4 even have official CM support), here the section is empty. Is it not possible to develop ROMs for this device, or is it just a matter of time?
3. Is the bootloader locked?

Built-in direct root access in a multilingual Vietnamese firmware Rom_Ti_ngVi_t_Xiaomi-Redmi3_MobileCity_v1a_Full_Unbrick . The firmware is flashing by MiFlash (it's in the zip), with locked bootloader. Su by Chainfire, with the SuperSU.
Is there a confirmed information that they are planning to release unlock tool (like they did for Mi4 --> http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html)?

Yes. This firmware saves me when the system is on my phone falls in the experiments. How to flash is here to see (only drivers easier are put, without such problems).
Or you can put the firmware via adb-interface. So I put my localized and tweaked version.
With unlocked bootloader yet like no one - Xiaomi needs to receive the approval to unlock. A request for this here (Xiaomi account needs).
Hi Guys, anybody succeeded in rooting v7.2.4.0?, i also need to know if there is a way to make google play as default app store
Think we'll need the global rom with no Chinese app store installed for Google to be a default.
Think either miui or xiaomi.eu sites there is a rooted latest version.... Not sure though

well then, i hope the Global Rom will come soon, since it would at least ease the pain
Please don't delete the xiaomi play store. It will send your phone into a boot loop. Read the Xiaomi.eu threads before doing anything.
As title really, can't really find a definitive answer.
It was a UK Tesco handset but unlocked to all, and still running the standard Moto stock firmware.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't want to loose my recovery and re flash my phone all from the beginning. i though maybe there is someone here who understand chinese so he can understand what is written on the forum because google translate isn't giving an accurate translation.
It has been a long time since the last update, so better not flash this.

You can reflash the old recovery if it does not work, and make a backup before you flash.
