[Q] Best Kernel for battery with MikVirgin? - HTC EVO 3D

I have been using MeanRom and MikVirgin off and on. I like MikVirgin alot better, and want to use it full time, but the battery life is terrible. MeanRom makes my battery last at least twice as long, but I get worse reception. I read somewhere that the great battery life has something to do with turning off one of the cores while the screen is off. I'm not an expert, but i think that is a kernel issue.
Is there a kernel that I can use with MikVirgin that will give me battery life similar to MeanRom?

That's a relatively hard question to say which kernel gives good battery life. Because no one kernel by itself can save more battery life than the other. Some do handle the tasks and compliment the CPU better than others. It all boils down to how your kernel is set up, what governor you use when your screen is on. What frequencies on and off, overclocking the CPU drains battery quickly. Having both cores online and one off when screen off. What I/o scheduler in combimation with a governor. It really depends on how you use or phone to best suit your needs, not one combination is best. While maintaining good battery is a must sometimes you end up sacrificing from performance and your phone suffers with lags. From these experiences I have found that the cool kernel and the forbidden kernel give good balance and stability in most sense roms. Along with meanrom and common sense. Those two roms I have found to give good bettery life. You just got to experiment. While one combimation of Rom, and kernel work for one persons EVO may not be the same on another persons.

Hey, im currently running trigger 3.3 and loving it. But i just wanted to ask you guys about your favorite kernels that give some of the best battery life.
im using bali 1.8.8uv and its still in the calibration phase but i feel like it gives some pretty good battery life.
What are your thoughts on the best battery life kernel that has a decent performance as well?
I'm on BaliUV also, fully calibrated, and I got 14 hours with 36% left before I went home. Somewhat light use. Pretty good if you ask me
Call me crazy but I think some phones just play nice with a certain kernel and others don't. Some can over clock / UV and others cant.
It seems silly but I tend to return to the old Overstock kernel. It just plays REAL nice with my phone.
I use Bali-X 1.2... Not for the overclocking ability (which my pathetic phone can't handle), but so I can undervolt even farther than the Bali UV kernel. I keep my phone undervolted by 100, and it is rock solid with this kernel and has awesometastic battery life.

So I've been trying various combinations and I have not gotten any "good" battery life out of any? Any suggestions?
ICS roms conserve battery in my opinion. (They all usually come with a kernel that is required)
^ agreed i seemed to get pretty good battery life from clean rom and there seems to be only the stock kernel for that and an OC one

Plenty of focus on all ROMs have been performance and battery life has not been so good. Request a ROM that focuses on battery life, for those that are away from a charger during a 14 hr. work day.

Have you thought about purchasing an extended battery ?
Or
Simply limit your processor, brightness, radio connectivity, and use am android firewall to limit which apps can and can't use data/WiFi. Also ensure you have good settings in your task manager

I get 2-3 days out of my 2400mAh-battery, using MIUI and the forbidden kernel.
I can't complain at all about battery life.
Everything runs silky smooth at 192/1180mHz - xondemand
A little undervolting and a little gpu underclock.
I think poor battery life is more "user error" than something to call dev attention for.
There are plenty of guides on how to maximize battery life on the web and on xda.
2 tips from me, because many guides get it wrong or fail to mention:
- This app lets you schedule autosync. With some care and thought when setting it up, you can be always up to date without your phone snycing all the time. If you need to be in second-precise sync-though, it's not for you.
- Wifi off @ screen off is a myth. I have set my wifi to be on all time for months now and haven't noticed any decrease in battery life. If anything, it's better now.
I use mwakious, forbidden kernel at 1512 mhz and an anker 1900mah battery and get about 19-24 hours no problem
Try using Juice Defender too
I've also noticed keeping wifi connected all day is drastically less harsh on the battery than 3g.
I get awesome battery life with mentioned banned kernel and meanrom. I just switched to another rom and not sure about battery life there yet or i'd share

best aosp rom?

i am planning to flash an aosp rom on my GSM evo(s-off,unlocked).what do you suggest.ia have tested this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551746) but battery is the worst ever.barely 4 hours of using.
i would love to see your suggestions for a ROM with good battery and camera working(2d,i don't really care about 3d),also jelly bean would be better than ics but ics it's ok too!.

As a rule of thumb sense roms tend to have better battery life and aosp roms lack that. However there are a number of ways to help save juice on your phone. Having your phone CPU governors behave in a way that saves battery power when your screen is off. Don't overclock your cpu. Smartass governor is a great balance between battery and performance. Disabling apps that misbehave. If both CPUs are online, you can force the other offline when not in use or screen off. Not having certain features running in the background like auto sync, GPS and Bluetooth. And of course there's always that extended battery.

I'm pretty new to the rooting scene and having a smartphone in general, so I don't know much about what's considered "good" battery life. I'm running Nil's sense 4.0 with Snuzzo's 1.2 kernel, lazy governor with SIO. My max voltage is at 1188 and my min is at 384 (I have no idea if those are the best voltages for this phone to promote longevity; they just seemed like good values so I chose them). What do you think of this battery life I got today?

There are two main power draws in the Rezound, neither of which you can "fix" assuming everything else is working properly.
The screen - it's power use is clearly the highest, 2.5 hours of screen time is pretty much the best you will get with a standard battery, the only way to improve it is to reduce the brightness.
The radios - it's power use is strictly governed by the signal strength received, the better the signal the lower the power use, the worse the signal the higher the power use.
There are lots of things you can do improve the battery use, none of them will make a significant difference for the screen or radio battery usage.
The Rezound is a high-end phone, it's screen and radios are impeccable... the problem is the cost is battery life. The best way to increase the battery life is to go to an extended battery.
yeah, honestly the only way to get longer battery life is to have screen on less. i mean 2.5 hours/almost 3 hrs on a standard battery is about the tops your gonna get
I used to have Neo's Adrenaline 2.0 Rom, and was getting on average 13 hours of average usage per day. I would text a bunch, Listen to music ~4 hours, and browse Reddit for another hour. I have YET to find another rom that can produce such impressive results. AOSP SCARFS down my battery life like no other. With the same usage, I get about ~8/9 hours of usage. Although Neo's Linaro roms do seem less laggy.

ineff deus. I modded a lot. removed nearly everything sense. tweaked build.prop a bit. kept apps frozen until needed. kept foreground apps low and prevented many from starting based on choice. I get nearly 7 straight hours on extended battery. close to 5 or more depending usage on standard
