[Q] storage swap.zip - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys. i have just edited one of my posts so ignore the other answers.
Can someone please make me an update.zip to install a custom vold.fstab. I will highly appreciate it. (And give thanks ofc)
When I update my Rom, I loose my custom vold.fstab and have to edit it again to swap storage around. And would like just to flash an update.zip after updating my rom.
thanks

There are 3 apps Ive seen that try to correct storage problems.ICSbinder/remountsdcard/directory bind.
What has happened,is your storage mucked up after flashing a rom?

Thanks but I still can't get it to work. I'll just have to stick to the script that makes the phone think the external SD is the internal SD.

[Q] Quick question? Nandroid backup

Can you, or should you do a NANDROID (CWM) backup between different devices?
I broke the screen on my month old SGSII (Yes, it can be done), I got the replacement already, but I just want to know if it's wise to restore from an image...Are there Unique Device ID's or something similair that would identify the device/cause problems?

Just erring on the side of caution.
I had to swap my first GSII and I had no issues at all restoring my backup once I was rooted with CWM installed.

when you get to a computer and read the thread it will make more sense....or you can click on my name and see that i have a title here of 'Recognized Developer'
It's a trap!
Just kidding. Like each of the individuals that have responded have stated, as long as you're restoring on the same kind of device you won't run into any hiccups. The information that is backed up isn't device specific to that extent.

Hi frnds ever since i got s3 i have been very very happy. But the more the hardware advances so does the software for example almost any game by gameloft is over a gig ... So at the end we end up with warning message... The games additional files goto mnt/sdcard/android
Is there any way if someone can make the folder of mnt/extsdcard/android to be used by default.

Nedd some help with this

Does it do the same thing on stock? If not you should try using the thread for that leak, you'll likely get a lot more help there than in a random thread to be honest.
There could be corrupt data on your SDcard.
The phone is not usable by now. A full charge lasted about 4 hours.
Since no one could help with this i have to turn it off and stay without a phone until i get back home.
Nice

Did you try factory data reset in CWM?
It's none of the above. It is the media scanner. It sometimes goes mad on SGSIII Jelly Bean and just ramps up the CPU and doesn't stop.
If you disable the media scanner using this app. The problem will be solved. If you add more music/pictures/etc to the SD card in the future and it doesn't show up in the Gallery etc, you can re-enable the media scanner using that same app. Just disable the media scanner when the media shows up after a reboot.

Disable it, if you want it to scan for new media, enable it for a bit, then disable again

I think it worked. Thankd a lot. Tomorrow when i get home i will reinstall everything to see if it works nornaly again.
Maybe it has something to do with the error on my sd card. I was waiting to format the card at home in my pc.
Think im going to format it here to see if works

You have no error on your SD card. It is a Samsung JB screw up. If you want to however, you could copy the contents of the cards, format them and then paste the contents back.

[Q]Default Storage Solution

I'm rooted fyi. I was wondering if im completely retarded or is there a way to default everything to the external sd card. I cannot find this to save my life...
Sorry to say it seems the answers to your question are yes, and no in that order.

The short answer is no, you cannot make the external storage the primary storage area.

Sorry I was being a smart ass, the yes was referring to the adjective you had called yourself, the no was the answer to your actual question.
I don't have the device yet so I can't help you but a modified vold.fstab file would work.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
Interesting, has anyone tried that modified file on it yet? Curious how it works?
