You can use an exploit to get root, but flashing kernels will need time.
Im rooted... But hey let's think logically. If Sony pc connect is installing/ upgrading roms... Shuld be some how easy to install custom Rom but ti keep the kernel... I will try something home. Im thinking that if you can repair the phone from that software that should mean that it has access to bl. No?
In that case you theoretic have to find the path wher is downloding the rom and to change the name of the custom Rom with the original Rom! Im wrong?

Everything PC Companion flashes is signed with an asymmetric, private key that is only available to Sony. The bootloader checks that signature using a public key. The private key also can't be computed from the public key, which is why it's called asymmetric.
Let it bee the biggest problem. I need to find the pat wher is downloding the files.
have to be somewhere a temp directory wher is makeing the download

Hello,
I would like to know if its possible to flash a kernel from within xrecovery? Did some one already tryed that, or will this screw up my device for sure? Or if theres another way to flash kernel and rom without the use of a pc.

YOu can simply replace kernel if you are using any custom ROM on locked kernel.
Then you can simply copy and paste it (overwrite)
EDIT: As I know, this cant be applied when on unlocked bootloader (you havent noticed it before).
Yeah, well apperntly im outta luck i geus. My x10i is rooted + unlocked bootloader, but im running 2.3.3 gb.... No custom rom, about the kernel i dont know if its stock or custom, i would have to take i look at google to find it out.
Edited: And yeah, looking back it would indeed bin better if i posted this info in first post.
After all it looks that im gonna have to borrow a pc by a friend.

Check : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669906. Download image, boot phone in Flashmode ( Vol down + USB connect if i remember correctly ) , and flash it. The software is pretty self-explanatory.
It's always good to keep backup, if nothing else but to revert to stock/earlier Rom without losing all data.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937792. Gives you several choices of Stock based on region as the first few links.
One of them is a torrent, I would recommend that, even though I downloaded the Indian ftf. I don't think it makes a difference which one you use, especially if you're going to switch to a custom Rom later.

Does it really matter if its India ? Just out of curiosity, would there be anything lost if we were to flash, say global ?

Technically it shouldn't. There was a huge rush to flash the Indian version, at it was the first of the Sola ICS' on XDA. Loads of people flashed it, irrespective of region. I guess it doesn't matter as in case we ever need to give back to Sony, they'll have bigger issues than checking which version of stock we're on. I'm not really sure though
have kept the global version to download...maybe it will take a day or so and i can flash only then
ftf for .110 is downloaded. can someone tell me how to flash it. i also downloaded flashtool.

Hello fellow xda'ers !
I recently tried to unlock the bootloader for my XPERIA ION and I think I managed to do it. It rebooted in a "new" state so everything I had was gone. Not sure if that's what's supposed to happen?
Well, then I tried to root with the "bin4ryv18" runme.bat.
It goes fine until it keeps on running ,so something went wrong...
Also when using another program, it says it "failed on data/local/tmp permission denied".
I don't know how I should continue from here? I'm quite a noob when it comes to this.
Do I flash something first ?

Honestly I don't know, because I don't have an Xperia Ion. I don't want to say yes or no because if i'm wrong you phone could get bricked. But a similar question is asked in that thread and just wait for someone to answer it.
Howdo all,
After finally sucessfully rooting my One S my girlfriend decided i needed to do her Xperia U.
However i seem to be hitting even more road blocks now....ive tried the "ROOT MANY ANDROID" method and the NOOB PROOF xperia U method..
on the second method i was told i would need to flash an earlier kernel for it to work "ICS 6.1.1.B.1.10"
having scoured the internet for this item im convinced it no longer exsists, but i found one but it appears its for the Sola and not the U which i unfortunately didnt notice until after i installed it ( i was just happy something was working) and now the phone won't turn on, it vibrates when the power button is held but i get no feedback from the screen.
So my question is, is this phone bricked? or is there a method i can try? or does anyone perhaps have the kernel for ICS 6.1.1.B.1.10 that i can try and flash
Thanks in advance.
ok it gets worse, i have got it working....buttttttt because i was just trying to get the phone working again i have installed the jelly bean port from the xperia p which as you can imagine is fun to look at but is unusable....
so i desperately need to get back to ice cream sandwich but im struggling to find a boot.img and kernel for this dammed phone....please HELP!
I don't know how you can't find anything there's loads of posts about with official firmware in -

And in <<only one>> option I get the RootMe restore option, the one for those with open bootloader...
And I also get a lot of error in the command promt, and that shouldn't happen.
Dose anyone have any suggestions or anything? Couse I can't talk with those guys due to this new user thing... X(

I found this after 2 minutes searching xda...
The guide is for Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.10 , i don't know what firmware do you have.. so if its any newer than 6.1.1.B.1.10 than you should just flash ONLY the kernel for 6.1.1.B.1.10 , then follow this guide till the end, then after root is achieved.. flash back the original kernel for your version of firmware.
I always root this way, and i never had any problems , just before rooting set the display of your phone to NOT turn off for at least 5 minutes, not 30 seconds as it is at default.
I have some kernels if you need them
Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.10
Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.54
Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.100
I have the 6.1.1.B.1.54 and my god haven't I tryed this option too. It was the very first method I found on xda back in 2012 and it failed. I will try it again however but I expect the same result as the first time...

all u need is a little patience. first flash stock 6.1.1.b.1.10.ftf that u can download from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391151
in the android 4.0 section flash it using flashtool and repeat the same methods u tried earlier and report it.
It doesn't matter dump ur phone but being this way u'll never get to learn stuff............
Remember to calm down first, so your head will be clear. I was also exasperated when I was unable to root my phone with .54 kernel. I had a lot of difficulties because I am on ubuntu 13.10 and I had to first properly install the packages required by flashtool. After a gruelling 3 days of failures I decided to step back a while so I could calm down and relax. Finally I got my phone rooted after I redownloaded a .10 kernel.
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk
When u hurry hurry hurry u will overlook a ton of things and miss a lot of essential steps even though you say "i have tried all methods and did them correct" a human is a human and obviously can make mistakes without even knowing them. and then u fail and get hatred but thats the part where u need to cool down. In this thread i have seen a lot of Correct answers for you i even used them and managed to root my Xperia U st25i with 1.54 firmware aswell the kernel is essential in it to so take some time and relax read the threads properly and even if something fails to download Search on XDA or google and u will have so much correct answers that u will be amazed of
if u are on .54 fw then u need to download .10 kernel and flash it via flashtool and then use bin4ry's method (restoring the RootMe file) and then reflash the .54 kernel
u will get the kernel in the op of the thread linked below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028139
and if u seriously want to get into rooting and tweaking your phone's system then the first thing you need is a calm mind or else you will end up bricking your device
