Hello bro. There is a well known conflict in windows 7(and up) driver installation. If you have xp, then everything will work like a charm.
To clarify...
Fastboot : blue led. Volume up+device connect via usb.
Flashmode : green led. Volume down+device connect via usb.
Meanwhile I'll give you a link on how to install drivers in windows 7.

Hey guys,
My Xperia U is just about a week old, and would love to try out those kernel's and prepare my phone for Keiran's upcoming works.
I read DoomLord's thread on unlocking bootloader, and I'm stuck on installing fastboot drivers. I press the volume + and connect my phone to the pc.
In device manager, it shows "s1 fastboot' for just about 2-3 seconds and that's it. By the time I right click, the thing vanishes.
Can anyone help me with the driver installations please?
Sent from my ST25i using xda premium
So when your in device manager and the driver shows up you need to open it up (be quick) once its open u need to update the driver. Once its finished plug the phone back in using volume up key and you should stay in fastboot mode....
Good luck

Sadly, windows failed to get the drivers. Maybe the drivers provided in doomlord's post ain't working.
What about installing drivers from flashtool?

Have you installed the sync program for your phone? If so ensure it is NOT running and try then as it will grab the USB ports before you try using adb and fastboot.

i dont have the sync program of sony. and its still doesnt work.
You may be as well to uninstall all drivers for phone, reboot your system and install drivers afresh, even connect phone and in your systems device manager remove the phone device from your system.
Sometimes drivers can get cross references when installing multiple times

I'm trying to unlock the boot loader of my Xperia U. But I'm having some troubles...
When I try to enter fastboot mode (pressing Vol Up + plugging the data cable in), I get a blue light (as supposed to) and on the Device Manager appears "S1Boot Fastboot", but my device doesn't stay on fastboot mode...
The blue light turns off and the "S1Boot Fastboot" device on the Device Manager disappears... This happens after 3 seconds after I plug the data cable in... and the phone enters in charging mode...
Is this a hardware problem? Or am I doing something wrong?

How can I point to something that is not there (on device manager)?
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
Try re-installing the drivers after removing them and restarting your PC.
- If possible try to connect to a different system altogether so as to confirm if this error is not specific to your system.
Cheers !

First, I'm sorry for the wrong section, cooleagle. Will be more careful next time.
I already have flashtool installed, and I already installed the drivers within it. What left for me is try to connect to another computer.
For me seems to be a hardware problem at first, not a software.. but I will try your suggestions.
BTW, on flashboot mode it stays.
As soon as the s1boot pops up in device manager right click and select update drivers. Normally Windows automatically installed the drivers provided it is connected to internet
Tapatalked !
Fastboot driver is the android_winusb.inf file, right? I point to that, but Windows tells me it could not find the propper driver...
The thing is: no matter how fast I am on pointing to this driver, the device always vanish first on Device Manager... Is this normal?
Did the same for me when i tried the first time but i was able to update the drivers just before it disappeared. Also one thing that happens on my phone is if i keep the volume button pressed for long it reboots, if i leave the button as soon as the blue light comes up it stays.

The flashtool method you mean going in C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the Flashtool-drivers.exe? I already did that... but still nothing...

i was quite ignorant when i did a full wipe of my xperia p.the only thing in my phone left was kernel,it boot until sony logo and i could not find solution to switch it off so as to enter flashboot mode.....then i found how to resart(power off ) device that battery cannot be removed. just hold the switch off button and volume + until the phone vibrate 3 times. then you could enter flashboot/flashmode by holding the volume + / or vol - while connecting the usb....i still had problem where error appear during flashing and phone resarting....i install gordon gate flash driver on my pc....and the key for a sucessful flashing of my device was when i was flashing for 1 second i notice that a screen appear on flashtoll asking to enter flashboot mode again it so i quickly removed usd cable hold the power off and volume + button until 3 vibration and hold the vol + button while connecting the usd cable it work.
to resume you must install ggf driver and have to enter flashboot twice during flashing

Try different USB port and make sure driver is installed.
Install the PC Companion, then connect the phone and let the phone install the drivers needed (When the pop up appears on the phone, select ok).
See if that works. This phone has a problem with Windows 7.
Otherwise, if you have a windows XP phone, you can get into fastboo there.
My experience - if your phone is "Bootloader Unlock Allowed = No", then you cannot access fastboot mode, only Flash mode. That's my experience from XU

I have this exact problem.
I can enter flashmode, but not fastboot mode.
I believe I have rooted my phone however.
Here's a video of me attempting to set it in fastboot
Somebody please help!!
I bricked my phone. I had my phone rooted and installed a modified rom based on .89 compilation. I wanted to change to one based on the 100, and after install it I lost install this kernel root. Then I tried to root the phone again but the flashtool did not recognize the phone. I was advised to do so through the Fasttool and I did. I installed the drivers for fastboot and then I did:
fastboot flash boot boot.img (boot.img was along with the rest of fastboot files). After "fastboot reboot" and the phone was shut down and no longer has reignited.
Now the only thing that appears is a green light turns off immediately and nothing else. The flashtool still do not acknowledge either the computer now.
Can you help?
Try to flash stock firmware again if flashtools doesn't recognize the phone try to restart your pc after install the driver. I have this problem before .and it still connect 2 flash mode. If that doesn't work try on another pc

Take the battery out for a minute and try flash mode or fastboot mode again.
Do not just plig it to the PC before you do.
