No,
Debranding is Software
Unlocking is Hardware
To Debrand all you did was remove the AT&T crap. If you want the phone unlocked you must either buy the unlock code or call AT&T since their supposedly giving them out for free-no contract.
It doesn't matter what ROM your running and whether or not you have HSPL sim unlock is hardware and you must get that code.

Ok, got a dumb question. Can the HOX+ be carrier unlocked?
I have my Vodafone (UK) HOX+ rooted with a custom rom, however as I don't currently have a micro-sim with another carrier available I am not able to check whether it is carrier unlocked.
I assume like other phones I would need an unlock code and if so, do any of the current crop on ebay work?

My HOX+ is unlocked. I am on AT&T... But I do have a Tmobile sim card I use.
I bought my Z2 from EE in the uk and i was very sad to find out that EE and other carriers stop you from unlocking the bootloader. So if i sim unlock my phone from EE, will i be able to unlock the bootloader? If not is there any other way i can make it say yes??

No and no.
This has been answered before. If you bootloader is locked, there is no practical way to unlock it.
Can we get a thread to consolidate information about the locked bootloader?
I need root, and waiting for an exploit to root might take a long time (or never), so the only other option is to get the phone unlocked?
Is the manufacturer able to unlock the bootloader? Is there a way to splice a root into a factory update?
SIM unlock and bootloader unlock are totally separate, so none of the 'unlock' services frequently advertised will be able to unlock the bootloader?
I'm am seriously frustrated by not having boot access, to the point that I am considering selling the phone and getting an HTC or Sony.
What really sucks is I bought this phone off-contract directly from Samsung because I thought only Carriers phones had bootloader locks.
FYI my version is the SM-G9250 (Asia spec phone).
That sucks.
I recommend you return or sell it and buy a T Mobile S6 or S6 Edge. After 14 days of purchase, they will unlock the phone. Also, it comes with unlocked bootloader and root is now available.
How do you check if bootloader is locked or not? I have an international version (F).
Thanks

Perfect.. Thanks
Liking this phone more and more...
Unfortunately I spend most of my time in Asia, so I don't have much of a choice. This phone has more coverage...and there is no cooling off/return period in Taiwan. I can only sell it as a used phone.
So the T-Mobile us version comes with an unlocked bootloader? This is the deciding factor of me purchasing this device .

This is amazing. I never knew T-Mobile did this. What's the protocol for unlocking after the first 14 days?
I think its 40 days, or something similar
just call them and ask them, they will tell you exactly how you do it
I'm from other country holding the G925I version
how do I check if the bootloader is locked or not?
I'm So EXCITED! Samsung provides factory bootloader unlocking!
I posted the details here:

Is the boot loader in the Hong Kong version locked too?
Hiya, does anyone know if the Canadian version (SM-G925W8) comes with a locked bootloader? I'm trying to root the device but it just keeps failing in odin.
According to this, the latest update for T Mobile locks the boot loader guys. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3096169
Hi guys, since upgrading to a stock ATT M8 (from a rooted ATT M7) on December, I have wanted to do the Lollipop update, but I do not want to risk the phone by rooting it (maybe I could do it on a last case scenario). ATT recently pushed the OTA update to the M8, but mine is unlocked, and I'm currently using it on Claro PR, so when I check for updates it gives me nothing. So here goes my question, can I manually download and push the ATT update from HTC to the M8 (as it is on stock kit kat)? My only doubt is that since it's unlocked, could it brick during the process, or would it be alright? Thanks in advance!

Is it SIM unlocked or unlocked from HTC? Unlocked from HTC means it has no carrier branding/bloatware and can be used on any network, compared to SIM unlocked where its just an AT&T phone with AT&T apps and branding that is SIM unlocked. If its unlocked from HTC you could just use an RUU to update. If its SIM unlocked from AT&T you could use an RUU but I'm unaware if that would then break the SIM unlock.

Sim unlocked (with ATT Bloatware and branding).
So, should I do it?
I'm planning to import a brand new Japan version of Pixel 6 from a shop. I was told that the phone is not locked to any specific carrier and can be used on any network. Since the phone is not carrier locked, is that mean the bootloader can also be unlocked? Is there any relation between locked carrier and locked bootloader? I wanna buy a phone which can have unlocked bootloader. The shop people said they won't be able to check OEM Unlocking status.
you can unlock the bootloader. I have Japanese version and i changed the model to International and again locked it.
Have a look here.
Cheers
Tom
