The question is simple. My old Fascinate screen is slowly breaking and I got a free phone so I figured I try. Besides the obvious and unmentionable would it require a custom rom or flashing for it to be accepted by verizon or could I used forced verizon roaming on current rom?

This phone (the I9100) is a GSM phone that doesn't even work on Sprint's CDMA network.
Go to the forum for the Sprint Galaxy S II (also known as the Epic 4G Touch) to ask your question... though I think the answer is "maybe", if you can find a device to use as a donor for the ESN number. And on top of that, I don't think you'll get very good data speeds with a Sprint phone on the Verizon network. But I'm not positive on how CDMA phones work though.

I just recently acquired from a trade an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 and I am using it for T-Mobile. Is it possible for this phone to receive any higher speed of data besides EDGE? I currently am on the 4G data plan and for some reason the data connection on this phone is slower compared to my previous phone. Thanks!
Dear baby Jesus,
Please grant these people with the ability to search and understand that Google exists.

No....the i777 is only a quad-band phone, it doesn't have the t-mo 4g capabilities. So far the Note is the only Sammy phone I know of that can be flashed to work on the t-mo 4g. The next batch of phones, like the One X and SGS3 are pentaband and should work fine....but for what you've got you're stuck on EDGE.

Nope. The only bands that the phone has compatibility for are the ones that TMo use for Edge. The i777 does not have the hardware to support the 3G bands for TMo.
This has been discussed several times and a search would yield that. As such, Im going to close this thread as the answer has been given and there is no need for any further discussion about this. It the OP needs more answers, he can either post in an existing thread of the same topic or PM me directly... Im also closing this to prevent the trolls from getting their flame on.

AND IT STILL DIDNT WORK
Because you flashed a kernel for Epic 4G, then you tried to revert it with tutorial for i9100. Am I right?

In addition to that - are your profile details accurate? Are you a T-mobile subscriber in the USA?
If yes, then you used not just 1 incorrect guide, but 2.
The T-mobile Galaxy SII is the SGH-T989. The forum for that phone is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329.
The I9100, Epic 4G Touch, and SGH-T989 are all totally different phones. The Epic 4G Touch is specific to Sprint, and the SGH-T989 is specific to T-mobile. Stuff between the two are totally NOT compatible.
The I9100 is a phone that works in the US on ATT and T-mobile (sort of on T-mobile, until T-mobile finishes their network upgrade), but isn't actually sold in the USA by any of the big 4 carriers.

Sprint device is still not an I9100. If your device is from Sprint, then you have the Epic 4G Touch, and are in the wrong forum. You can double-check the model number under the battery.
If the model reads as "SPH-D710", then you for sure have an Epic 4G Touch, and the Epic 4G Touch forum is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281
The Epic 4G Touch is CLOSE to the I9100 in terms of CPU/GPU hardware, but they have totally different radio hardware.
You should stay within that forum when looking for stuff for your device, and out of this one. (for the I9100)

Hi I have a sprint Galaxy S2I would like flashed to page plus. It was partially flashed and the person who did it used my current esn which I have on pageplus with an existing phone and for some reason it will not connect to the towers permanently. I can even see a call come in but it hangs up and my current pageplus phone with that esn (both have the same esn) still works. Pageplus said it needs special programming for a 4g phone to work with their 3g service. I am willing to pay for an expert. I hope I have the right forum it said Sprint Galaxy SII. I am a newb. Please message me if you can do this. Andy

Andrew, you're in the wrong forum.
My buddy whos on our family plan needs to downgrade from a Galaxy S III to a basic phone. I came across an Unlocked AT&T Samsung SGH-A157. When I called Verizon they used a blanket statement of "AT&T uses completely different technology than verizon, so their phones won't work on Verizon". I tried to explain that it's Unlocked and is CDMA based, so it should allow the sim card if I understand things correctly. He said "It doesn't matter if it's unlocked, AT&Ts technology is different then our." When I asked what technology exactly is different, he replied "Everything". He lost ALL credibility with that me for that statement. I constantly run into crap like this with Verizon... everything else is inferior, and only Verizon exists in the universe. Also, one MUST have what that absolutely don't need and we WILL lie to you and trick you into buying it or signing up for it even if you disagree!
Anyway. Is there any truth to this guys statement? I thought the whole point of "Unlocking" a device /phone was to make it work on another network.
Do I legitimately have to restrict my search for a Verizon flip/basic phone?
This brings up another concern because the plan was to get him a phone, deactivate his current Galaxy S3, activate the Unlocked phone, Unlock the Galaxy S3, and then sell it to some friends who have Metro PCS.
Also, Ive been told by some Verizon associates that I should be looking for GSM phones because we have Sim cards. But then other representatives say our phones are CMDA and thus should be looking for CMDA phones. Is there any consistent formula to this?
This forum is for i9300 international variant... I think you should ask a moderator to move your thread to your phone's forum in the appropriate section...

I'm not in the US so I'm not 100% on this but the SGH-A157 is GSM and Verizon uses CDMA tech. Afaik, they are not interchangeable.
Unlocking a phone does not change the radio tech used in the device.
You can probably shift between AT&T and T-mobile, but not CDMA carriers like Sprint or Verizon.

I currently have a VERIZON Galaxy note 3 that has a bad motherboard - I am being given a SPRINT Galaxy note 3 that has a busted screen / Digitizer.. but has a good motherboard.
I want to put the Sprint motherboard in my Verizon note 3 and use it on Verizon 4G LTE. I've been told the bootloader is unlocked, but that the sim is locked by Sprint and can't be used on Verizon or any other carrier, let alone 4G LTE.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I want to use Alliance ROM (Verizon) and keep / use my 4G LTE. I don't care about any of the Verizon or sprint apps. I usually delete those.

Go ahead and give it a shot. Both phones are jacked from what you say so it won't hurt anything and will give you some knowledge on swapping internals out on the phones themselves.
Good luck and keep me updated on how it goes. Thanks.

So will Verizon SIM work in it, or will it not without changing ROMs or whatever

Well I changed the board out, and into my Verizon phone... It did work, but my SIM dint it says invalid SIM. I've tried changing the settings to cdma or gsm or LTE with no luck
Yep sprint mother board. There's a thread about flashing a Verizon rom on to a sprint note 3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2942452

It's my understanding that even flashing a Verizon ROM on it won't let it work on Verizon.
