As far as I know, there is already root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I don't have this phone yet so I don't know if this works or not.
As far as a rom goes, I think jmz was considering doing some dev work on this phone.
Thank you

Just did with the above method. Full root access now looking for ROMs and recovery..
I rooted with the above link fine, but don't see any roms out there. It's unskinned anyway and it's my daughters phone. She can tether so it's all good. Doubt we'll see much if any development on it.

It seems as though you guys got the root working. Could I borrow a copy of your titanium backup or system folder. I installed the hp beats installer on mine( do not do) and now all the audio drivers are not working and my copy of tb is corrupted. Since you have good rooted phones, could I borrow a copy to restore my drivers. Thanks!

The source and kernel codes can be found at the link below hope it helps toward rom development

anyone found a work arounf the msl to unlock port
Please
I installed beats audio using beats audio installer, and it ruined my rise, could someone please lend me a copy of the stock rom as well?
Rise can be Rooted
The Kyocera Rise can be rooted. Rise v4.0.3 is much is eaiser to root version v4.0.4. It seems in version 4.0.4 they locked the bootloader. This update is provided by OTA from Kyocera. Version 4.0.4 can be rooted but from information I found online, it seems some root procedures work for some v4.0.4 but not all.
For now the only thing you can do for customizing the rom is to use "PimpMyRom" app from google play. I suggest NOT to install "beats audio" from the app. The drivers cause you to lose all your sound. I hope this bit of info helps.

Hi all,
I ordered a SGP 4.0 and will receive it today. Should I root it as soon as I receive it? Does 'rooting' make any changes to the stock firmware? Does it change anything else compare to a stock SGP beside that it will have 'root' permission?
I am new to the Android environment as I have never owned one before, but I am an embedded software guy by trade (on a totally different discipline and processor family) so I'm not a stranger in the firmware world and Linux environment.
Later, I like to learn programming/hacking the Android for fun and hope that I will be able to contribute something.
Thanks for any comment.

No, all it does is just give you root access.
Not really, unless you want to use Titanium Backup. Mine is rooted (I think, can't remember lol) and I really don't see any other advantages except for overclock apps or other root-only apps.
Overall, it's not necessary. Just flash a ROM (I prefer CM7 or Klin's Klassic ROM) and a kernel (NOTE: Steve's kernel for the US and INTL 4.0 may cause bootloops if you boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery).
Thanks! I appreciate the replies. So, if I want to root, I just grab the latest version of Superoneclick and have at it?
If I were you I would wait a little longer and get some more information about this, beofre rooting. I rooted my Player using Superuser, just the latest one I could find.

See, I used DooMLoRD's Rooting Toolkit, which I find to work, unlike the time I tried to root with SuperOneClick. If one doesn't work, go with the other.

I would 100% suggest you root your device, mainly for the fact that all the custom roms are more stable and user friendly than the stock samsung ROMS, I rooted my SGP installed a custom ROM on it and I'm living it up, I'm so happy that I can't even explain it. I couls give you the link to the rom forum for the SGP's if you want?
It will void your warranty. but i think its still worth it .it raly depends on what you want to do with your android.

Hey, I'm a huge novice at all of this. I've had my player for a few months and I've heard of tons of people that have rooted their device.
What does it allow you to do? Is it how you get more themes?
I'm very unintelligent on this subject so any clarification would be great...
not sure where else to post this so wing place oh well just tell me to move it don't get all crazy psychotic on me. is there no love for the lg Genesis? out has no love. doesn't even have a custom gb rom...is there anything u can do over factory to thus phone? has anyone even successfully rooted one? anything welcome.

As for the hard keys, I'm pretty sure they would be Home+Volume Up+Power
That's if you haven't installed a custom recovery on it

Bricked LG US760
Hello to all. I have a bricked LG Genesis (US760) from US Cellular. Can anyone tell me what steps to take and unbrick this phone. It was given to me and I just want to see if I can do it. Any and all help would surely be appreciated.
Thanks.
There's like no support for that device

I have a us760 LG Genesis. I rooted mine using gingerbreak app. Worked great. Very easy. Installed busy box using busybox from market. But you are right there is no support for this phone. No custom recovery that I am aware of. No custom roms. I am running Launcher Pro Plus. I have done a system clean using Diagnosis app from market and it seems to run faster. Elixir2 from market is able to set cpu governers and freeze the US Cellular installed apps. The only problem I have now is the external speaker isn't very loud. Which has been a problem for me on a couple of LG phones. I am currently looking for a fix/mod for the volume. With no luck so far, since there is no custom recovery available. I would try to install the bravia/xloud and see if anything changes, but again, no custom recovery. Any suggestions about this would be helpful.

Ok on the lg lucid using ROM manager it says there's a compatible cwm recovery and will download and install it. But it never works . Is it not compatible with 4.0.4 and only gingerbread? I can't find anything online about it. I'd rather not have to flash the official GB firmware, reroot then install cwm and flash a ROM.. It's tedious and wipes my phone completely and yes I'm already rooted. Any ideas? I really need help and would appreciate it greatly. Ready to flash cm10. They have a ROM for the lg lucid so I know you can get the recovery to work please and thank you. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hello there! Glad you dropped by.
The ROM Manager is almost decrepit now and not many people use it. In fact, I haven't seen support for many of the new devices lately. You can't install CWM through the phone; you'll need a PC to do that.
LET'S GET STARTED!
Since you're already rooted, you can get the CWM for LG Lucid from here. BTW, make sure that you have some version of Windows installed, as this works only on that.
Unzip the archive and place it on the desktop.
Make sure you enable USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development.
Connect the device via USB cable to the PC. (Make sure you don't use any hubs to connect.)
Double click on the Installer.bat file
Follow the instructions displayed on the screen
Once the process is over, you've finished installing CWM Recovery to you LG Lucid 4G!
You can now install CM10! Good luck! :good: Post back here if you have any problems at all!

It should work. Just try. There's no point in having a phone with 4.0.4 and downgrading to GB just to install CWM all over again.

In theory, you can flash only SYSTEM, kernel, FOTA, and such things...

Just a heads up, I downgraded and boot looped until I was able to get back to flash mode and actually wipe data. I'd say be sure to make a good backup, but I had a CWM Nandroid made with Online Nandroid and I cannot get the /data partition to restore. I will have to look into this later tonight, as I am off to work soon... I do have backups with Titanium Backup, but that is my last resort...

Granted but there is very little written about flashtool and using the PC Companion in the XTZ forums. The best way for a newbie to become an oldie is as Cat said, I'm all for reading and researching but for some of us the easiest way to learn is to jump in and get our hands dirty. And when nothing is posted specifically for our device about flashtool how is a newbie supposed to learn without asking questions or jumping in and doing it?

To have a rooted 4.2.2 for SGP 321, this is what I had done
1) downgraded to .307 using flashtool.
2) Root .307 using DoomLord toolkit v17.
3) Change SuperSU to system app
[can be done directly in SuperSU setting]
4) Update back to .244 via OTA
Important: To ensure that SuperSU is a system app, go into settings of SuperSU and check under System, the option should be greyed out and mention that SuperSU is already a system app. Many users reported had to do this several times before finally succeed. Expected some reboot.

To have a rooted 4.2.2 for SGP 321, this is what I had done
1) downgraded to .307 using flashtool.
2) Root .307 using DoomLord toolkit v17.
3) Change SuperSU to system app
[can be done directly in SuperSU setting]
4) Update back to .244 via OTA

I realize that is how to keep your root when updating via OTA to 4.2.2, what I was talking about is if you are on 4.2.2 without root could one of the other Xperia root methods work for that without having to go back to 4.1.2.

Follow @DooMLoRD's guide To root. 244 firmware...
In essence, you must flash .423 kernel only, boot your phone, run the special v18 version of root kit, then flaah again .244 kernel

Does anyone know if there is a lollipop rom for SGH-i527M or if Samsung plans to officially release one? I prefer a stock one without touchwiz. Is there one anywhere??

No dev is working on Mega anymore, I guess. It's interesting because even my old and mundane Huawei Y300 was easily rooted and now can run lollipop 5.1, but not my Mega I527M!!!
Ok, well is there a rom that exists? Or can someone make one? Or can one from a different device like a nexus 6 work on this phone?

Custom ROMs exist, a couple of them actually, but you have to be very careful. Which version is it 4.2.2 or 4.4.2?
I'm looking for lollipop. Is there one available anywhere, or one for another phone that might work with mine??

To root I just installed this rooted stock firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-mega/development/rom-rooted-stock-4-4-2-i527mvlucne5-t2917868. You have to use Odin to install this rooted firmware, its not hard you just follow the instuctions in the post
And for recovery I am using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588661. I also used odin to install it to my phone, it took about 10 seconds
And then you can flash any rom for you device. Have fun

I installed Validus-lollipop on i527m and it actually works.
The only problem was the extreme battery drain. Like 1% ---> 1m 7 sec if using wifi or lte.
The solution is easy (use GSam battery monitor): there was a bad kernel wakelock.
If you don't use your mega for touchless paying, just delete NFC.
Find com.android.nfc. Force stop it. Delete cashe/data. Remove. Reboot phone.
how to instal?
and make me sure it gonna work my friend
please
