You can't simply flash a Gingerbread ROM over an Ice Cream Sandwhich or JellyBean ROM.
You will have to start fresh via ODIN, then root/flash a custom recovery, /depending on GB ROM you want to flash, flash the gingerbread bootloader\, flash your GB ROM.

I'm interested too... Any chances to get it?
I'm running the Gummy Ice Cream Sandwhich and I want to return to the 2.3.6 that I made a Android of but I'm not sure if I can with everything working okay. Any information? This is on a Mezmerize but I've got a buddy with a Fascinate wondering the same thing. Thanks.
Just Odin back to stock then flash the rom you made a nandroid of (if it wasn't stock) and restore your nandroid.

I'm assuming you don't already have clockwork recovery on your phone? If not go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 and flash clockwork mod recovery with the update.zip in section B) in the guide. Once you have that taken care of you simply go pick a rom from the development section and follow the instructions which are usually factory data reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache from recovery menu then install zip from sd card. Some ROMs recommend flashing a gingerbread ROM before flashing an ICS or JB ROM. If you want a completely working phone I would recommend one of fishman or moped ryders 2.2 ROMS, ICS has the EU bug and bad gps, and JB is still in beta builds I believe. Just remember you can always upgrade by flashing with no problems but if you ever want to down grade you must Odin to stock 2.1 then go from there.

Look at my signature for a guide on how to install ICS ROMs. You'll need to look at it on your PC though and not the phone app.

I don't think he can see or SIG on xda premium, but anyway flash a froyo GB or ICS rom then flash the jellybean ROM.
Sent from my Jellied out Vibrant sandwich.
Check out the Hellybean nightlies Here and here and the Devil Kernel for ICS here and Jelly Bean here for the Galaxy S and variants.
Or you could use Odin to flash a gingerbread bootloader then flash jellybean right then.

Is there any consequence to try to return to ICS (or stock) after flashing a JB test rom (or custom)?
no. but full wipe necessary of course
Odin and 3 files from samsung.
Don't even need to wipe if your restoring a backup

Flash a stock Rom and do a data wipe in stock recovery.. then your good to go..
If you don't do this WiFi might not work on cyangenmod Rom's.

I just went back to ICS after testing JB for a month and the biggest consequence is the overwhelming need to have a fully stable version of JB. lol
Ok guys,
Thank you all.
Which method is best for installing cyanogenmod?
I mean, if i want cm9...
From GB to CM9 or from GB to ICS to CM9?
Which is i have to install stock ics before can upgrade to cyanogenmod...
Yes its sound like the same but little bit different...
If from GB can stright install CM9, i have CM9 custom bootloader...
If from stock ICS i have stock ICS bootloader then upgrade to CM...
I'm looking for the best method for my batterylife, i dunno if from GB maybe can save my batt more then from stock ICS to CM9...

First two things you need to read about it nandroid bkup and efs bkup. Then think about flashing things.
Forgot to tell that, just skip that backup thing as i know how to do it, just want to know which is good for upgrading...

Alot say that GB is better than ics or jb for battery but it's really up to you to test for yourself and find out. I will say that if you move to cm/aokp your battery will not be as good as with stock. So with that said flash jb as I think this is better than any with Odin. Just do stay away from ics 4.0.4 as this firmware has brick bug.
Also to install cm9 from GB flash it from cwm recovery
4.0.4 i get only with cyanogenmod, stock rom ics for my country Malaysia only up to 4.0.3...
Do u think jb is better? Or cm10? I'm still not upgrade to jb coz of external sd will be sdcard/enternal_sd, i use cm9 coz i like the way my external sd be a primary storage
