As you can see my situation is quite simple. I'm still using GB on my Xperia S. And as more apps start to get that ICS look. I start thinking more about upgrading to ICS.
So... Is it already worth upgrading to it? Are most bugs ironed out and such?
Cause to be honest, I love my phone as it is currently. It works fine as it is and there isn't much a need to upgrade.
I dont see any bugs.

What phone model you have? For Xperia P upgrade to ICS is necessary - better interface, faster and smoother than GB! After upgrading to ICS I forget about unlocking bootloader, becouse stock ROM is good enought!
Hey guys who are using ICS.
Please tell me it's performance in games.
Have you find any improvements?

Yups, some of games run smoother than in GB. You can force gpu rendering in Dev. setting.
Thanks!
Would love to see more answers.
If the update is available, update it Asap!

Oh yes. Im using Xperia S
I'm on an Xperia P, and the most significant difference is in performance (scrolling fluidity and whatnot).
But really, I wasn't on 2.3.X long enough to get a real guage on everything that changed (I literally updated after 20 minutes out of the box).
for me sure i will update for ICS ,, but if you with unlocked BL and you want the BE then stay on GB cuz its not working with ICS with unlocked BL
but this cant stop me to prefere the ICS

Ofcourse you can. Just update and if you really need to, flash a gb firmware with flashtool.
The update is worth it. Plus, ever since the .45 firmware, the performance is even better then on gb.

You allso heard alot of issues about the phone, the screen, battery problems in Gb and so on, and you still got the XS.
For me it was worth it. So nice new features, but nothing breathtaking.
Only problem so far is lowered wifi signal and some games lag after the ICS update.
The lag is not a general problem for me since GTA still runs smotth in high setting, and can have it running in the background and still play Dead Space without any problems.
I am happy with GB, no lags atleast..

yes you should... the issus"rumours" came from people that has found issus becaus they want... ICS is not as bad als all the people screams out... just update and then wait a couple of hours... and 2 or free full charching circles till ICS works great..
the only real issue i found was, that the Launcher (the same like the 2.3.7) lag a little if you apply third party Widgets and resice it...
the speed is after all the same as the 2.3.7 - the Battery-drain is better, the ics settings are great (the best new feature is the new Multitasking manager... damn great feature)
if you got issues after first installation.. just reinstall (if you use Flashtool) and take a look that you made a full wipe (Cache AND Userdates) - and the Flashtool must be in the newest Version - so then... go on
SXS ICS and me? was not a love from the first view, but became bigger ever hour i use ICS and play whit it
I upgraded to ICS and my phone is better than ever!!

Thats the common reason why its so called "buggy".

Hell Yeah, Better battery, Looks, Speed..
I use Apex launcher instead of Sony one & i have not noticed any lags at all????
me too... Xperia ICS & Apex is the best combination for a rocking S
Now U can upgrade to JB and it's 100 time better the official ICS....

I bought I9100G few weeks back and its working great. Upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and now i have No lagsand all great games like NOVA 3, shadowgun and other heavy games are working flawlessly. Plus i am getting great backup times as well.
But the two questions that are in my head nowadays is that
1) Is it worth flashing (Indian) ICS 4.0.3 on my S2G ? will it give me benefits like better battery backup, better 3D game performances and others? can someone provide with the changelog or the features that anyone noticed when they upgraded to 4.0.3?
2) Will flashing void my warranty?
Waiting for replies .. Thanks

If you are happy with gb then stay with it. Many users including me are facing 3d performance problems with ics and many other problems.
Even cm9 is having problems with cam and 3d performance.
So u should stay with gb. Ics is nothing. You can easily having ics UI by using launchers on Google play .
Again, gb is good enough for u to stick with it.
PS : flashing it won't void your warranty.

In gb : I have no problem at all.
Games like mc3, nova 3, asphalt work well. HD video played very smooth.
In stock ics : bad 3d performance, heating up easily, drop signal, some lag but acceptable when play HD video.
In cm 9 : normal 3d performance. Sometime heats up. Drop signal sometimes. A lots problem with camera like focus .... HD video is very laggy, can't watch it.
But in cm9, UI is smoother and you have horse power kernel to play with. U can oc CPU and gpu ....
Your decision to flash it or not.

There's some problem with my rom now, it have something to crash on every time im using it. So, im thinking about changing a new rom. Any suggestions guys? Probably something good for daily use?
try FXP roms, they are very stable. for Gingerbread try FXP130-CM7.2 and for ICS try FXP129-CM9

I'm using the same and for now seems to be great! (except for the camera that i'm expecting issues too) but only that, no major issues =)
If you decide to try out SONY Xperia S Rom then I would say stick with version 8.3 AAA s I found v9 has small bug of some apps not working... Also after installing if you want to change DPI left me know that way you can use smaller icons and fonts.. Looks really cool.. Check attached images

there at the moment isnt properly working camera for ICS.. then sugest to give a shot to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516960
now I am running this one.. so far seems the best GB rom atleast no heavy lags like ferralabs V20.. here I meen for example Little empire.. for me it was quite painfull to play on that rom
Ferralab roms sounds good, but now I deffinettly will stick with x10S v9, give a shot for it, after SE stock rom its will feel blazing FAST (not so fast like ICS, but seems like best alternative for stock rom)
Hi all,
My Xperia S phone upgrade arrived today. I am not using it as my main phone yet because I am still using my X10 phone on my old network, Orange, and will start using the new phone when I've given O2 my PAC code.
I had a few questions. Firstly, there's a 'system update' on the phone menu - I assume this is ICS. Should I go right ahead and install it? Are there any problems I should know about and is performance better/worse than 2.3.7? I'd like to install it before I do anything else on the phone, but if it's glitchy then I'd probably rather stick to GB.
Also, is there any way of restoring app data without rooting the phone? I wanted to restore my texts and MMS settings to the phone, as well as my internet bookmarks.
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks
I personally love it but Some people liked it and some no,there is some minor bugs in ics so maybe better to wait little more for sony new release.

Yeah. Have a feel of the gingerbread experience first. Then upgrade to ics if you are no longer happy with it. It's like getting a new phone

Test both and see for yourself. I'm switching to AOSP the day FXP release their tree, so you should also give CM10 a run and maybe join the AOSP tribe.
Update! camera becomes lbetter!
video bit rate is better!
720p is now 12mbit s
I got mine on Monday and upgraded to ICS straight away, so dont have any experience of how GB was but, ICS is smooth for me - only gripe is the stuttering on bluetooth when playing music! :'(
P.S - My battery life was absolutely awful the first few days - so bad I really considered returning it! But today and yesterday it seems to have settled in and it lasts an acceptable amount of time.
Definite YES !!!

hey all,
a quick question, if any one tried the new update 6.1.A.2.45 for Xperia S at Egypt please advice
what about the battery life, free RAM, any bugs ?!!
i just got the phone 2 days ago and it works fine with GB 2.3
i don't want to face any bugs with the new update, if it will; i will better leave it on G.B.
P.S. i always have free RAM between 300 and 403
GB works best if you don't want to unlock bootloader... ICS uses more ram and such...

I like GB a lot, but Sony's implementation of ICS is really very good. Heaps of new features too. Anyone who whines on about "RAM" is misguided and living in 2011. Ignore and enjoy the ICS experience. Everything works and works well, enjoy.

I would 100% do the update, Sony is one of the rare companies who gave it's users a really great GB to ICS update, and then proceeded to continue to support it.
