[Q] Upgrade from CM10 0.05.1 to 0.05.3 - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

hey all,
I am loving the CM10 builds that Chris is doing, most excellent work. One question. If I want to upgrade from one of his versions to another (e.g., Upgrade from 0.05.1 to 0.05.3) do I have to do a full factory wipe each time? Can i get by with just clearing cache and applying the update in CWM?
Any hints/tips are appreciated.
Thanks.

Just clear cache and flash the new ROM over top.

[Q] About updating WB from 3.6 to 4

This may be a somewhat noobish question, but...
Can I update directly to WB TW V4 from 3.6.0 without full wipe data??
I ask based on Wolf's post, since it says does not wipe data.
thanks in advance
Hi,
as far as I know it should be possible. I did it from 3.9 and it worked perfectly and all data still there.

If Wolf said it doesn't wipe data, why are you asking?
But to answer your question again, it does not wipe data and yes you can flash v4 right over v3.6....but like always, make a back up of your apps/data/contacts just in case.

Steps to go from ICS to GB -custom ROM's

Hi there!
As i have try to find info about downgrading ROM's with no success. (It's big forum indeed).
I have installed ICS XXLPH. Rooted and CWM-ed with Chainfire kernel.
If i want to install custom GB ROM's with CWM are there some precautions that has to be taken prior to go from ICS to GB?
Thanks a lot!
Brgds,
M.
You can just flash immediately from CWM with no problems, there are no actual precautions. However, you will need to wipe all of your data, cache and dalvik COMPLETELY before flashing because any ICS data will not be compatible with GB (otherwise, you'll just have non-stop crashing and force close issues)
Step 1 - use the search button

I DID!!!! But haven't found what i was looking for ( Thanks!
Reboot into cwm, wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik), flash zip - rom and reboot.

So i guess no big deal to jump from ICS to GB. Thanks guys!

Use Odin and flash a rom(2.3.6) which have bootlader for example XWKK5.
Here is bootlader:

[Q] Cyanogenmod 9 install/help

hey guys,
so after reading the CM9 install guide, looks like I need to flash the stock ICS first. I'm currently using MIUI 2.1.7 which is still gingerbread.
I went to the stock ICS firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
But didn't see any North American or Canada firmwares, does it matter if I get the Argentina one, or can anyone direct me to a North American version.
Another question is, after I flash the stock ICS, will I still have my root and CWM?
Thanks,
eclipse

Incorrect, just flash cm9.
I can go from MIUI gingerbread, straight to the latest CM9?
So just follow the flashing instructions I guess, and skip all the other nonsense?
If you're flashing through CWM there is a long and complex process to flashing such a complicated ROM:
Step 1. Factory reset/ wipe cache/ wipe dalvik cache
Step 2. Flash CM9
EDIT: Remember to keep breathing whilst you do it, sometimes I need to focus so intently on the complex process I forget.
One more question, if I wanted to update CM9 via Rom Manager, to a newer nightly, would any data/apps/contacts be lost or reset, or is it just an update?
Nightlies are just an update, no need for a wipe.

Don't use rom manager, I've been hearing bad things about it. Just use cwm recovery. And no data would be lost, just don't data wipe / factory reset in cwm recovery

Alright cool, worked fine
thanks a lot guys!

What needs to be cleared to reflash for updated rom (JB)

Hi all. I have been following this board for the past couple of weeks but this is the first time to post. I am kind of a newbie to all of this but am enjoying it so far.
My question is I have flashed the Jelly Bean rom by Maple that was the July 29th version. I wanted to reflash with the updated rom, so the camera will work, but was not sure if I have to clear everything again before flashing the new rom?
If you all could advise me I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Make a nandroid backup first. Wiping data / factory reset is usually recommended, but for updates you can usually get away with a wipe cache and dalvick cache. But if you're having freezes / force closes you should do a full wipe

[Q] Question about updating ROM

Im currently using the pacman ROM 22.2.0, not sure whether its official or not but I think I took it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253673&highlight=pac+man
and now I saw a new and official one and Ive decided to change my current ROM to this one, which is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400382&highlight=pac+man
Right now, Im confused whether I should update my ROM as usual (don't have to wipe my data) or should I install it as a new different ROM (requires wiping of data) since the previous one isn't official or something. "not so sure about it"
:S Help me please, sorry for my bad English..
Thanks in advance.

SInce you're trying to update from JB 4.2.2 to 4.3, its better to do a full wipe before flashing the update. You can minimize any bugs or issues that way! :good:
