Hi guys, First of all this is my very first post so hi.
I used search and google to try and solve my problem but couldn't find a thing.
Now I hate to sign up to a forum and just straight up ask for help but I'm desperate,
Basically when my phone is connected to my pc via usb and i try to transfer over music for example, some files will transfer and some will not with my pc saying device has either stopped responding or is disconnected.
However if i send the file to a different location in my internal storage it will transfer, this is very frustrating when trying to copy over albums.
Sometimes files that do this will disappear so they can no longer be seen or deleted but still take up space.
I have tried formatting multiple times and done many things in cwm recovery mode,
I'm using RR 3.6 JB AOKP version 4 and 3.0.15-siyah-s2-v4.1.5+ Kernal
Help me XDA your my only hope...........

Give us more information eg what memory you transferring to internal or external SD? if external what speed is your sd rated at?
How much data are you trying to copy over at once? couple of hundred Mb or a few Gb?
From experience some cards with a low class rating eg class (2) & class (4) struggle to cope with transfers of either big single files or mass amounts at once and the data bottlenecks or clogs up and corrupts & also does if you over or try to over fill the card
If you have a low class rated card try smaller transfers such as 1 album or a few tracks at a time and see how it goes
If it's a video file that's a couple of Gb then split it into sections and transfer it a bit at a time

Cheers for the reply, I'm transfering to the internal storage of my phone the phone memory for some reason it calls it internal sd and i tried doing a full album then went to some single songs it pretty much chooses which ones it cant transfer over, my external micro SDHC is a samsung one and is a class 4 when i used it on a different device it didnt have any trouble but as of this morning it is doing it too.
I did a full format of both cards so both have loads of space internal 10.5gb and external 8gb Im getting to the end of my tether with this im going to try a different ROM and see if that does anything if not its getting smashed........
I managed to fix it it was doing it with every single custom rom so i formatted everything effectively "bricking" it then i put stock ics on it im yet re root and flas a new rom so il do that and let you knowwhat happens

Hey everyone-
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem before, but I've been trying to transfer a fairly large amount of music to my Vibrant from my pc lately and I keep getting error messages whenever I attempt any transfers, even ones less than maybe a 1.5 gigs. Whenever I attempt to do this the transfers stop about halfway through the process. And I've tried flashing a couple different roms and that hasn't helped, and I've obviously made sure I have enough free space on my internal SD beforehand. Any ideas?
-thanks, bobofosho123
Yea tried 8gb and didn't work
So just try 2gb at a time

There are two reasons for that.
First, some roms have a problem with that, there is a fix in dev section if you are using Froyo
Another problem could be (it did happen to me) that there are certain symbols on songs titles that Android won't recognize creating an error
If it always fails in certain file or folder, try renaming it osr skipping it and see what happens
Thanks for the help guys, I figured it out. I was able to transfer all 11 gigs of my music to my Vib without a hitch, thnx.
I have put a Kingston 8gb in my HTC HD2. Managed to add 3.3 GB of music (synced through WMP on pc). This all worked fine initially on wmp and sense player on phone. However I don't appear to be able to add any more music. There are errors in sync or sync says ok but wmp or sense on phone cant see or play the new music files. There are usually folders within file explorer which apparently contain all the tracks added including album art but these cannot be played (i've tried Nitrogen as well) or play only a few seconds of the track which then constantly repeats.
Anybody got any ideas of a fix for this?

Yep, tracks appear in windows explorer but will not play.
Try deleting "AudioManager_Eng.vol" in "/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/". You may have to restart the phone to delete it because the sense player locks the file when its running.

I've done this, but now HTC music player cannot find files at all. Win and nitro player can. I tried syncing new tracks again but neither player can play them, although apparently they can see them.
Have you tried running chkdsk on the sd card when the phone is in disk drive mode. File System Issues can sometimes cause these problems.

How do I do this?
Right Click on the "Removable Disk" in "Computer" that represents the sd card. Click "Properties" then go to the "Tools" tab and under "Error Checking" click "Check now...". Make sure that "Automatically fix file system errors" check box is ticked and click "Start".
Done that, found one error in folder fixed. However makes no difference to adding any more music.
Is the music your trying to copy the same format as the music that plays and what is that format?
Yes same format, ripped to WMA variable bit rate
Can you confirm the files are being copied correctly and not becoming corrupt when they reach the sd card. I take it they play fine on the PC. Try using HashCalc from SlavaSoft to generate the checksum of one of the music files on the PC and then the same music file when it is on the sd card. If you have just copied the file to the sd card then remember to eject the sd card, take it out and plug it back in before generating the checksums. Compare the checksums and if they are different then the file has become corrupt when it reaches the sd card.
Done this, file appears originally on file explorer on phone sd, but vanishes after eject/replace. Calculated prior to eject totally different numbers, eject/replace deletes file, leaving empty folder.
Is there any value in syncing to sd in card reader directly?
Ive tried straight copy / paste without success.

Sounds to me it is time for a new SD card. You should not be having this much trouble with a good SD card.
Yes it is some value in using a SD card reader to transfer data to a SD card. For that is the only function ofcthe SD card reader is to read data on the card, write datacfrom your computercto the card, or write data from the card to your computer nothing else. Your HD2 has all kinds of things going on while you use it for USB mass storage. Also if you try a SD card reader and have the same problem you are pretty much assured the SD card is shot. Unless you reformat the SD card with the reader and it will work then. If it still exhibits the same behavior after reformatting it is a bad SD card. Google Panisonic SD card formatting software and download and use it to reformat your SD card. Do a full wipe and use Fat 32.
I reformatted and then I tried using card reader, OK until 3gb ish (of 8) was used. Then errors started. Mix of files (wma, wav etc) using winamp to sync. One error is that Nitro played tracks but it appeared that one track would be repeated. The card is only about a week old.
Is there an issue due to mix of os, windows 7 on pc and windows mobile 6.5 on phone?
Would upgrading phone to Win 7 sort the problem?

Changing over to WP7 would probably only enhance your problem seeing as WP7 uses your SD card as internal memory.
Where did you purchase the SD card? Something tells me it wad online.
It was online, Ebay Pureprices. Kingston though, proper packaging, I'd have thought it would be ok.
I copied some more to the card in phone, tried to play them with card reader, explorer/winamp sees them but will not play, other files previously copied do play.

Well I can't say for sure but I do suspect you were sold a bogus SD card. Even if it was in the right packaging yhat is still not a roper assurence thatcit is logit now. The internet scammers are getting realky good now days. They probably sold you a SD card that is actually only like 4 gig and made it look like a 8gig. I have even heard of people getting SD cards that were sold as 32gig and werecactually only 2gig. You can do some googling and see if you can find some software that will tell you the true size of the card and class also.
This is interesting, I summed the reported file sizes on the card amounting to 2026 mb. the phone (settings sd card and phone storage) reports 7852 mb total 3003 used. This is echoed by my computer when read via the phone and by card reader. I know cards are reported as slightly less capacity (?setup files) but not more than 1/2.
I found this site http://fightflashfraud.wordpress.co...ld-standard-in-detecting-fake-capacity-flash/
any ideas of its veracity?
There is a link on this site regarding fake Kingston cards on Ebay, that seller however had poor feedback, the seller of this card is 100% positive feedback, and only appears to be selling 8gb+ cards and 250+ of them in the last month.

Man nice find I will be downloading that for myself. Kudos to you.
From the results hou got there I think it is pretty safe to say you got a bogus SD card. Not neccasaraly defending the seller you bought it from. But they may have been as much a victum of someone selling them the bogus card too. I know a lot of things are cheaper online but I think I will just have to go down to my local Best buy and get me a SD card. Just to much of a risk to buy some stuff on line.
Hello all, I had recently upgraded to a SanDisk Class 4 32GB microSD card and within a few days after I had merged all of my phone's data and my old sd's data, my pictures come up as broken files, and my music shows about 5-8 duplicates of each song but only a select few will play and the others will act like they're playing but no audio plays and the seconds of the song stays at zero. I even restart my phone with the sd out and the media scanner doesn't show that it's running, and I'm pretty sure it's not because when I go back to the music player I still see all of the songs that are on my sd and the pictures still show that they're broken...idk how the files still show in there without the sd card being in there, but I'm afraid I might have done something wrong when I had cut and pasted all of the files from the phone itself onto the sd. I have no real knowledge of android programming or rooting or anything like that so I figure it would help to mention my phone is stock but officially upgraded to 4.0.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and could possibly help more users out there!
I think you have to go to settings-apps-all tab-media storage- clear data. I think I remember right. Maybe try it without your card in. Replace SD card and turn on phone and I think it will scan correctly.
Or something like that. Hope it helps
Yeah I've tried all of the available functions from the phone and also mounting & unmounting it. I'm assuming from being a windows user that I might have transferred over some sort of "playlist" that remembers all of the file extensions for each file, and since they're not located in their original place it cant find the file...idk but it really takes a toll on my drive to work!
Hi all,
My O1 has a problem wherein some apps recognise the files present on the SD card and some don't. I'm going to eloborate the scenario below.
Well, firstly the current ROM i'm running is the latest MIUI by Zack, which i had installed yesterday night. But prior to that i was running the stable CM7.2 with the candied kernel by DjnoXD.
While i was running the CM7, i noticed that only PowerAmp was able to detect my music present in the microSD card. Apps such as GentleAlarm, JetAudio, Fusion Music player and the default music player wasn't able to detect any music on my phone. So i assumed that the microSD card has ran it's course, since it was more than 2+ years old.
So yesterday, i bought a SanDisk Ultra 16GB class 10 card, and I installed MIUI on it, and to my disappointment, MIUI player didn't detect any music player, same result with JetAudio, Fusion and GentleAlarm. Yet somehow PowerAmp magically is able to detect the music!
Now I'm sure this problem is not because of a faulty microSD card, Kernel or the ROM.
I hope i have provided enough information, If more is needed please inform me about it.
What could be the problem? I searched a lot before making this thread.
Regards,
CD
Edit: I'm facing a lot of signal loss recently... Could this be due to a damaged hardware? I did drop the phone a couple of times

I never liked Clockwork recovery or the ROM Manager, I use amonra recovery and MIUI doesn't have ROM Manager... Also i did check for the .nomedia file using root explorer, i didn't find it in the .nomedia file in the ringtones/alarm/music folders...
I feel my phone has a hardware damage as the signal keeps getting lost way too often after i dropped the phone... It wasn't a very steep fall, probably it fell on a delicate spot which i presume is located where the sd card and antenna is located(i.e., at the top of the phone)
Can this be fixed by servicing? My phone's out of warranty anyways... or do i buy another phone?
Does your sdcard work fine otherwise? Can you view pictures/documents or move apps to sd? If so, it looks like for some reason the phone is not scanning for music files and building it's music database. Why don't you try flashing another gingerbread or an ics rom to test?
Nothing is wrong with your phone. There can be many reasons for this problem.
Copy entire microsd card to your PC. Now delete all the useless folders created by so many music
players you used.. in the copied folder. Search for .nomedia in complete copied
folder.
Format your microsd card.. (fat32). Copy everything back. Done!!!
Dont do this if you dont have knowledge about which folders to keep and delete.
I recomend you to use only one music player at a time!!
> search for .nomedia files on folder and delete those.

I had deleted all the .nomedia files present... yet i had the problem. So I formatted my sd card again, created a 512 MB ext2 partition, a 64MB swap partition and the rest as FAT32 via the recovery.
I flashed the latest CM7 nightly and the default music player is able to recognise the files...
However randomly, the music apps keep scanning for media files and show 0 results... it's as if the sd card slot is loosly attached to the phone.
The signal keeps dropping often, and i'm sure it's not the network problem as i have an older nokia phone which has full signal... i mean at times, if ppl call my o1, i'm unreachable yet if the nokia is called at the same time, people are able to connect...
I suspect it's some hardware fault... Can it be fixed?

Cant be sure about your network problem. May be baseband not properly flashed.
Second.. go to network preferences and select Only Gsm or Only Wcdma. Not auto.
If you are using a2sd or link2sd.. Dont move the default music player to sd card.

I Will try the gsm/wcdma only option.
Im sure I flashed the new baseband correctly as Ive been using it for more than 8-9 months...
I'll test this for a while...
Could be a long shot, but maybe try to GENTLY clean the contacts on the SD card slot.
Sorry to hear you are still having these issues.

Well, I've gently pressed the sd card slot hoping it would fix the problem ... I'll test this phone for a couple of weeks, and if the problem persits, I'll give it for servicing to a known person rather than a LG service centre...
I can manage with random unmounting issue , but random/often signal losses defeats the purpose of having a phone...

This problem has got to the point of forcing me to register on XDA forums. I have a Samsung G II running android 4.1.2 (jelly-bean of course) and over the past week the memory (storage) handling has gotten really bad. It's as if the OS has given up on storing items now. Problems include-
After taking, receiving or downloading a photo (generally over whatsapp but it occurs to other apps like wallbase) The photo will be stored on my phone for the day until i turn off my phone, now after turning it back on however the photos are gone just leaving a blank space which displays "unable to load" in the gallery.
Next issues is that my apps i now install get installed in the next dimension because they don't appear to be on my phone even when i do a file search or plug in the device into my computer. But here is where it gets crazy they are on my phone and do take space up, but it's no where to be found.
The OS now presumes i have an SD card even though i don't have one plugged in. Because of this! big games and Apps now now try to use this fake SD that doesn't exist and this causes them to give me errors along the lines of "Sd is full or inaccessible". Pffft
Please someone help me, this issue is annoying me so badly and is rendering my phone useless if it can't store data.
I appologize you were forced to register here @ this great forum and though you still might find your answer here, ironic, anyway.Have you tried wiping cache, dalvik and fixing permissions, are you even rooted?I did'nt see you mention that,so i have no idea, also, you might want to back up what you want to keep and format and partition your sd card, not sure how big your sd crad is either,so you might need a bigger sd card for all your stuff.I myself use a 32GB Sandisk, class 10 and it works great, never ran out of space or had any speed issues on my OG EVO.
