[Q] Can anyone share Blur Home from stock ROM? - Motorola Photon 4G

Long story short, I don't know how I did it, but I somehow lost the Home app in my stock ROM. I don't run the ROM often, and ran it after a 5 month hiatus (oh god the updates!) and made the awful mistake of uninstalling GO Launcher EX. You ever run Android without any launcher? It is not fun! Fortunately Play Store was in the recent apps, and I could download and install Holo Launcher. So now it works. But I'd like the original launcher as well, just to have it on hand.
/edit: Background music for flashing stock ROM... It should play whenever you flash the stock ROM. (Don't wanna click? It's Darth Vader's "Imperial March" theme from Star Wars.)
//edit again: Thanks, it worked. The music was fitting. I can't believe my wife puts up with this lag. It's like going from a sports car to a fixer-upper. But I found what I was looking for.

Yes sir I have. I'll see if I have it somewhere. Do you need odex or deodexed? Also, which build?

Thanks Loki. And I don't know what I need. I used to vaguely know odex from deodex when I was using Samsung, but now the terms are foreign to me. If I used a file manager, I would have removed the odex file with it, I'm sure. If I used Titanium, I'm not sure if Titanium would have also removed the odex file.
It's kinda coming back to me... We had to deodex the system (on Samsung) before we could theme it. If that's just general Android... I'm sure I didn't deodex my system. Definitely didn't theme it. Sorry for the confusion. I assumed they were all the same file.
Build? 2.3.5. Shouldn't matter if it's from Photon or Electrify, I don't think. Only difference should be the default wallpaper. I'd actually prefer Photon's, but I can add the Photon wallpaper to the Electrify app.

Think this is 2.3.5 deodex
(I'm trying to find odex. Didn't realize my mopho archive is as big as it is)
EDIT:
So that wasn't it. But I did find Blurhome 2.3.4 from 198_7DeODEXed. I have stuff going as far back as Yay's preroot 198_7 (think I even saw Alien and Home Base) so try those two and let me know if they work.

Thanks Loki. I will try the second one.
Looks like I'm going back to stock (to try it), haha! So I just have to Nandroid my ICS ROM, then I can restore the stock ROM.
My own MoPho archive might be about 1GB. I dunno. I think I have current versions of all the ROMs. I don't generally keep old versions. And I'm not really involved with the scene (as in I haven't developed anything).
I'll edit and let you know if the second one works.
/edit: Weird. Not sure why my post reverted. I had two edits. Anyway, it worked -- thanks again!

[RELEASE] Blackhole 0.6 Custom Rom Beta 11/9 update *Extra Apps Link*

This is my first Custom Rom guys, so all feedback is appreciated, even if you think it sucks. which you might....
PRESENTING:
BLACKHOLE CUSTOM ROM
*Disclaimer*
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone, any issues you have with this ROM, or anything in general. This is provided as is and I will do my best to support this, but make no promises. This rom SHOULD WORK on any kernel or flashed over any other custom rom, or even stock, but has not been tested on all. If you flash this without wiping data all of your downloaded apps will still be on the phone, this will only remove the stock apps. If you flash any themes without these enhancements through clockworkmod recovery you will most likely remove the 15 second backlight and power button options, however metamorph themes may or may not remove these enhancements.
*End of disclaimer*
This is a project of mine because even the cleanest custom rom was never clean enough for me. I want my device to be fully customized and this was the best way I saw to do it, so I wanted to share.
This rom has almost nothing built into it. the easiest way to tell you what I removed is actually to tell you what is left...
Remaining apps:
Camera
Gmail
Market
Phone
Settings
Superuser
Task Manager
Voice Search
Swype
LauncherPro
Features:
15 Second softkey backlight
Reboot, Recovery, and Download options in the power button menu
Ultralite rom built for ultimate customization
Thats it. Once you install this as a barebones custom rom, I make it easy to install the apps that you want. I do this so that people like me can have only what they want. All you have to do is create a folder called "apps" (case sensitive) on your sdcard and copy all the .apk files you want installed as System apps into it. Then just unzip the attached folder anywhere, and run the <InstallApps.bat> file inside it.
Due to Facebook, Myspace and Twitter Sync requiring too much extra programs to run properly I will not be supporting it for the current versions of Blackhole. Once our great Devs figure out how to get AOSP running on this phone then you will be able to sync them all with their own downloaded apps, until then, it will not be a feature of this ROM. Sorry if this puts anyone off, but the point of this rom is space, speed, and battery life. SNS is just too bulky to be included.
You can get the app files from other custom roms, by unzipping them and looking in the /system/app directory or just around on the board.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or chat me up in IRC channel #samsung-fascinate on freenode.
If you need any app suggestions to replace the ones missing from this ROM please post and I will reply as soon as I can.
Changelog:
v0.3 - Standard download is Stock Theme, and the Blackmod Enhanced theme is a seperate clockwork zip. I also removed a few extra background apps.
v0.4 - Removed A LOT of background apps, including all DRM apps, and the Media Sync(MTP) mode (because, lets face it, no one who uses a custom rom is going to sync DRM tracks from windows media player)
Do not turn on Google Location Services, it will force close. This doesn't affect your GPS accuracy or lock time.
Removed accessibility aps (Kickback, Talkback, Soundback) they are all available in the market.
v0.4.1 - Added default MMS app back to fix issues with MMS not being delivered.
v0.5 - Removed several more background apps.
v0.6 - Removed even more background apps. My phone is still running fine but please let me know if you have issues. I have added the TouchWizCalendarProvider.apk into my Extra Apps link because it is required to reinstall the calendar properly.
This is still very much a Beta Rom, you may have force close issues, and if you try to access something that has been removed, you WILL get a force close. If there is something removed that you wish was still there i'm sorry, i'm working really hard to get this ready as a base for my Rom Manager Build-Your-Own-Rom idea, and that means removing everything possible. I will be glad to provide app names if something you want isn't working. please reply to this thread with any issues you have and I will try my best to work them out.

I take no credit for these, I simply put them all together in an easy to access space, for people not quite savvy enough to pull them from a system dump themselves. The AOSP apps and Stock Deodexed Apps can be installed using the installer method above, the custom apps need to be installed through Clockwork Mod Recovery just like the ROM. If i'm missing something you want added let me know and I will add it to the extra apps link if I can find it.
Thanks:
Jt1134 for script help and the Super Clean rom series that inspired me
Deodexed for the custom boot and shutdown animations
Nintendo and Square-Enix for the boot and shutdown audio
tigers4life and utermensh for their work on the extra power button options
wasupwithuman for the extended softkey backlight mod
stanrc for the BlackmodF metamorph theme
Frost for his help with integrating the mods into the theme
DlongB13 for initial testing
PhoenixPath for frequent testing, troubleshooting, and feedback.
and everyone else who helped me along the way

Does it still have the built in messaging app?
Nice job! However, may I suggest a different name for this ROM? When I see Barebones 0.2 I thought it would be an update to the existing ROM that birdman made, this is pretty different.
it does not. the rom is not meant to be used as is, but to be customized by each person who downloads it. you can download chomp sms or handcent sms from the market, or get the stock messaging app from frostman's deodexed rom or the aosp messaging app from JT's Super Clean .04 rom and install it using the instructions in the first post.

oh yeah, that's what he named his TEST20 kernel isn't it. hmm. any suggestions anyone?
I suggest something like "skeleton" or "minimalist" or just "simple ROM". I like the sound of "Simple Rom" myself.
Clarification
I really like the idea you have. The only suggestion I would make is, for those not savvy enough to dig up system dumps, etc to find the needed .apks, maybe adding a folder called "Apks" to the rom (in which you would find all the stock removed apks), so you just copy/paste into the "sdcard" folder you create. Again, kudos to your idea of a 'build-your-own-rom' rom you have here.

Thank you, I appreciate that. And we are actually somewhat on the same page. this is the first dev work i've ever done and i'm learning as I go. my goal is to have this rom in Rom Manager, with custom download options like some roms have on other phones. for example you pick the Blackhole Rom, then select your version, and then it asks you which launcher you want, then which messaging app, then which contacts app, etc. that way you can choose from a list when you download it, or choose "no thanks" and get a different one yourself.
Not a fan of the theme but thanks!
I will release a stock theme update tomorrow.

love the idea but a bit too bare for me. FC's when opening contacts through phone and no stock mms. maybe ill give it a try when i have time to customize it myself

All of that will be available soon after I get listed on Rom manager. it's much easier that way than trying to post apk files on this topic. If you can't wait that long JT has the stock mms app already in rom manager and the mesmerize contacts app is in a topic on the forums here. it's the same as stock except a few new features.
Sorry, probably a dumb question, but am I correct in assuming that because there's no mention of TouchWiz, you've replaced it with LP?

yes that's correct. A little while after it's up on Rom manager I'll set it up to let you choose between LauncherPro, ADW, and Touchwiz. For starters.
I read over on other GalaxyS phones about DRM services that run in the background that take a decent toll on battery life.. Have you looked into getting them removed to further clean the system up and improve on this cleanliness?

I will certainly try it out. i've been slowly removing an app or 2 every couple of hours to see if it crashes my phone, then if all is good i'll release an update tomorrow. I'll check those out this evening.

[Q] TSM Parts disappeared

My wife's phone was running ComRom 1.3 nicely when she decided she wanted the honeycomb theme from nitro that he made for the ComRom. No problems, however, now the TSM parts is no longer located in settings, and does not appear in the applications list, even after restoring the .apk with TiBu. Was this due to a modified framework from the theming? Any ideas on how to restore it?
ummm, did you read the op? Or atleast the last couple of posts in the thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=985689

I would say yes, the theme's modified framework took it out. lol...I guess figure out which one is more important to her, the theme, or TSM. OR, post about it in the themer's thread, see what he says about it.

How do I remove all battery fully charged notifications

I am trying to disable the sound and the light mainly as it wakes me up.. I found this blog http://ykkfive.blogspot.com/2011/10/remove-battery-fully-charged.html but I don't understand how to do what he says.. does anyone have an APK or anything else I could do that would be easier.. I have a Rooted (no roms installed yet) S2.. Thanks!
If a new Rom flash is the only way I will go that route but would rather not.. Are there any roms that don't require me to loose all my settings but do disable this useless feature.
If you understand that post and have the required programs (sdk etc), go for it. To do it you will need root. If you are going that far its not much further to just flash a custom ROM.
I think all the custom ROMs suppress that annoying message. Check the change logs to be sure. Plus with all the custom ROMs you will get tethering enabled and a host of performance tweaks.
Edit:
I see you said you are already rooted. Taking the systemui.apk from a ROM that has already been tweaked may cause issues with your phone. There are many jar and apk files that are inter-related, and taking that one may bring broken links, or be reliant on links not there.
You choices are to mod it yourself manually, or flash a full ROM that already incorporates it.

Yeah sadly I don't understand it all that well and based on what you saying is if I am not 100% on it, flashing a custom rom will be easier and less BS.. Well time to research the best custom rom for SG2. Thanks for the info man!
Try them all, what's best for me may not be best for you. Sometimes you have to see the ROM running, because the screen shots don't do it justice.

i've tried some and i think the closest one to original stock is "unnamed rom". (it retains touchwiz, but remove useless at&t apps and bookmarks, and also some tweaks).

That could be said for all ROMs except CM7 and MIUI. Some of the others ditch the TW launcher, but they still have TouchWiz, and are based on stock, debloated and tweaked. It's a misnomer that TouchWiz is just the launcher and app drawer, that is only a small part of the deep integration TouchWiz has. The biggest difference between them is theming. UnNamed and Cognition are mostly stock, others like S8 and H8's are still TouchWiz, even if they don't look like stock.

I used Battery Charged Silencer (free in the market) and it worked great. Now I'm using the UnNamed ROM, so I don't need it any more.

[Q] modding a ROM

Ok, here's my situation. I have a ROM I'm happy with for the moment(The Electric Factory), however I want to make a couple of changes and don't know how. I've never done any coding on a ROM and doing so is a little above my head, but I want to know if it's possible to remove the built in launcher(QQlauncher) and make Go Launcher the baked in one. Is this an easy swap or would I remaking half the ROM? And how would I go about doing it?
btw:I'm not computer illiterate, Android is just something new to me
Well, right or wrong I uninstalled it with titanium backup and that seems to have worked fine. Easier than I thought.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
As you've discovered, much of this "stuff" isn't really complicated. The launcher is just another app that you can remove. One thing to remember with the launcher is you'd better have a 2nd (or 3rd and so on) installed !!
In the past, people would ask ROM packagers to include launcher "a" and someone else wants "b" and so on. Some packagers would make multiple versions to satisfy everyone !!
Oh, just to be clear, the method you used is perfectly okay. No harm at all. Technically, you could have opened the ZIP file that you downloaded, removed the included launcher, replaced it with the one you want, re-sign the ZIP file, etc, etc and then flash it. Your way is much easier...

[Q] How to Disable/Remove Sense?

I dont have a problem with sense or anything, I just like to have options and I really like the look of stock Android.
I havent found a solution as to why I cant flash Cyanogenmod 9/10 betas yet (keeps aborting installation), so I need to do this without flashing a new ROM.
Im currently running viperROM IC3D Beta 3. Im not sure if its promoted to be stable, but so far it is for me. And its also using Sense 3.6 so it should be the same if I was running the stock ICS OTA update, I assume.
So is there a way to disable/remove sense without installing a new ROM?
A launcher wont do it for me. All that does is change the home screen, not the actual shell of the OS.
Thanks is advance!
Get a new phone, or change your rom.
Since sense is integrated, you need a whole new rom if you dont want it.
The only thing you can disable with sense is the sense launcher.

There are some desensitizing scripts out there that you can find and tailor to your needs, but I would just find a ROM that is already desensitized. Some people swear by the scripts; others have issues getting them to work right.
