[Q] please help, I still cannot update to JB - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hello, i read most of the threads but i'm totally stucked.
I'm on:
stock IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.2.15-20120221
stock bootloader (locked)
rooted
CWM 5.8.3.4 installed
problems are:
i don't get OTA update notification (maybe 'cos I'm rooted)
i cannot get back to stock putting WW_epad-user-9.4.2.28.zip onmy SD card root, because update starts but at the first reboot I'm bumped into CWM instead of installing new rom.
I tried trekest (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909820) method with no luck (I always get bumped to CWM).
I wish someone could help me! any suggestion is appreciated
THANKS IN ADVANCE
P.S. i realized that this is an ancient problem 'cos last ICS ver should be .28 and not .15 :-/

imho if you have cwm -> you're unlocked -> no ota

truly speaking i don't know if i'm locked or not... but running the ASUS unlock app still ask me to unlock, with the unlock warning...
so i desume i'm still locked (and perhaps this is why i cannot install any other rom), strange thing is i dont get the OTA notification...
i gusss i'm LOCKED, but supposing i'm UNLOCKED, what i can do?

Supposing that you're unlocked, head to the development section and flash a custom rom of your preference, no point settling for a stock ROM supposing that you've already voided your warranty

no...
just eee pad asus boot logo....

To know if you're unlocked, only boot your prime: at the boot screen, upper left side, it'written "device is unlocked".
I am unlocked, same CMR than yours, I just download the WWW zip on Asus support website, extract once the zip (once more but just to know what was inside).
And in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, and flash the zip that was inside the downloaded zip like any custom Rom.
Then reboot, and wait for installation end. (It flash the recovery again I think.)
Then JB!

Well.... Then i'm LOCKED... I dont think i can flash the update in this Way, right?

Got it... Followed the suggestion thanks

Well, when i was on ICS nothing showed at bootstrap, but when i booted to JB it says 'unlocked device'... so NOW i guess it's UNLOCKED :-{

Need Help Recovering Factory

Hello all,
I had the CWM installed, and my phone died when I was asleep, down to 0%.
Now, it won't charge. I got a half charged battery in today, so I'll be able to do some things.
The phone is S-off.
Anyways, I would like to know how I would be able to:
-Remove CWM
-Recovery EVERYTHING to factory default
Also, I'm kind of a noob, so when it comes to telling me to let's say "flash amonra", please tell me how, or link to thread or something. If you can.
All help is appreciated...If I don't get this fixed I won't have a phone for a couple years.
Also, a tip: HTC Keeps track of those who unlock the bootloader on their phone, and tell Verizon. Which is how they find out even if you reflash, relock, etc.
First thing to do is get rid of that recovery! Soo many issues and you can use either the TWRP 2.1.1 recovery or AmonRA 3.15 (located in the dev threads). CWM causes phone charging issues (as you are aware) and I recommend not using it.
Are you familiar with flashing a recovery in fastboot? Were you running GB or ICS firmware?
I suggest you familiarize yourself with all the root lingo contained in this thread.

I believe you would use the command "fastboot flash recovery [file].img".
I wasn't running the IceCreamSandwich update, pretty sure of that. So it must be the GB. I would like to know how to remove the CWM.

Yes that command is correct you just have to make sure the recovery file is in same folder as your fastboot.exe.

Well, I fixed it. Or at least it seems. All I had to do was flash the latest RUU (which was actually the currently installed rom on my phone).
Well, hopefully clockworkmod is GONE.

CWM was great on my Incredible...but I've had the same problem you did with charging issues, not to mention backups that would freeze in mid stream.
Flashing a RUU was the only way I could find to fix it.

Imposible flashear Any Recovery

Hi, I have an Amaze 4G with ICS 4.0.3, and I want to change the rom for space in the internal memory and battery life, but it has the android 3e recovery, and will not let me flash any recovery or roms or any ZIP, always gives me the error "e: signature failure". I root, I replaced the recovery of the / system / bin for one of this forum, as amended, but still all the same. I visited all the xda forums and HTCMania, I'm Spanish and I can hardly understand English, but I have not found a way to flash without me signing error android 3e.
Help, please

How sure are you that you're rooted? Anyways, if you just used an app to root, it won't be possible to flash a custom recovery until you unlock your bootloader.
hello, I have not posted before, it broke my wifi.
Turns out my ruby, is a Chinese clone, if you have not unlocked the bootloader, but try to flash the recovery.img with flashtools and I did, but it was starting to 3e, so try flashing boot.img, a boot.img flashtools accept, and did, but when you restart the phone, it stays in green android screen with black background.
Any idea?

You honestly lost me there, if your device is a Chinese clone, why would you attempt to flash files from this device to begin with? You'll need the stock files for that device to recover it.
of course, but i buy an Htc Amaze 4g and not a chinese phone. i dont know that thing, and now flash recovery.img and boot img compatibles with htc ruby, with flashtools and my phone fake is brick. Only on to android green and hold in that screen.
Today, i open new thread

i am not know this phone is a fake.
somebody can help me.
Thanks.
otherwise, a friend too buy the same phone. I can get the archives necessary to recovery my phone?
I did not know it was a clone, I bought it as HTC Amaze 4G:
http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods.php?id=7080
but when I hear that is a clone someone contact the customer service, and gave me the link to download the stock ROM from my phone.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/lgkfyw
So I made my query in this forum. From what I have seen, this MOBILE, carries a EVO 4g rom, so I'll try to find solutions for this.
I appreciate all the responses received.
thanks

AT&T Factory ROM

Anyone know where I can find the AT&T Factory ROM i forgot to do a backup and need to put this ROM back on the device.
i can not find it.maybe few months later, you can get it here.
Is it weird that there's no RUU? It's been a while since I had an GTC phone so I don't remember how long it took to have one on a new phone.

I feel like it is weird, though the One is the only device I got close to release. My Vivid and Inspire were both purchased a few months after release, and iirc the ATT RUUs were available when I got it, but I guess that doesn't mean they were available at release.

Actually, this leads to a nagging question I have as a first time rooter. I want to use the stock ATT Rom, but root the phone so I can install apps than requre root access and am all about taking back total contole of my device.
SO If I want to keep the stock rom and just root it, I would need to back up the device?
So if someone could throw me a bone How would I gain root access to the device whilst keeping the stock ROM?
I plan on using Hasoon's Tool kit.

flash the stock rom through recovery and then flash superuser.zip in recovery. boom. rooted on stock
If you are completely stock then Once you unlock your bootloader flash twrp recovery. Then boot to recovery. Then reboot from recovery. Twrp is smart enough to recognize you don't have root and prompt you to install superuser and binaries. After that I found a busybox flashable zip via google, as the busybox installer from the market wouldn't work for me. This leaves you on a stock odexed Rom with root. Note that unlocking your bootloader will wipe data..so backup anything important first

If you flash stock recovery successfully and you try to boot to said recovery, you won't have any options to do anything. I never cared to look at it on this device but usually all you'll see is a triangle with an exclamation point. That's stock recovery. If you want to flash anything, you can't use stock

I don't think anyone's still following this thread, but did you relock the bootloader before returning it? i was thinking of just flashing recovery back. I don't think anyone at the store would bother to look at that anyway. Whenever I go there, the employees seem to know less than nothing about phones lol.

Thanks for the solution. But actual problem is that i wanted to flash custom rom that is bricking my phone. Tried gb 2.3 on my froyo but it kept crashing on next immidiate boot. Isn't bootloader denying to flash that rom, is it? That's my reason for unlocking my bootloader.also, is it the locked carrier that prohibiting the rom to operate or my phone that isn't upgradable. I can't figure that out. Plz give me another way to flash custom rom on my rooted phone. Thanx for info!waiting for the solution

The million dollar question is where are you going wrong?
Do you have a custom recovery e.g Clockworkmod for your phone?
If not follow instructions here
Is the ROM specifically for your device?
Try CM 7
Is you bootloader really unlocked?
Try Z4root for the job
Try flashing the new rom via custom recovery and make sure you have this prerequisites. You are a big boy, you know what to do!
PS: If you want to unlock your phone(Locked Carrier) try this

[Q] Easy Question: I have a rooted 4.4.4, can I upgrade to Lollipop the normal way?

Hi There,
I'm running a rooted version of KitKat 4.4.4 on my Z2 (23.0.1.A.0.167) and I was just wondering about the process of upgrading to a rooted version of Lollipop. Can I just upgrade using the standard method (from the settings menu) and retain root access? Or will I have to flash an entirely new Lollipop ROM onto the device and then root that separately?
I'm in no rush for Lollipop so I'm happy to wait for the official upgrade, but if it won't be possible or will mess up my device then I'd rather just do whatever it takes to get it flashed.

I guess your bootloader is still intact, if so you're good to go. You will will only lose root when you update to lollipop through OTA.
On the other hand, if you've unlocked your bootloader and probably have a custom kernel, then I'm afraid ota will not work.
Hope this helps.

If the desired outcome is root on lollipop, don't do ota.
Install recovery (if you don't have one) and flash a rooted lollipop zip through recovery.

I think I have recovery, though I can't remember to be honest. I followed a guide here when I rooted my Z2.
If I flash a rooted L zip does this mean I'll lose all my apps/data? I remember that I did when I rooted 4.4.4 but the process was such a headache that I can't remember which parts required wiping everything from my phone.
Also, is there a ROM version you'd recommend? Is the current one stable or should I wait a little while longer for a better one?
Google recovery and Xperia to see videos of how to get into recovery to find out if you have it.
You don't 'need' to wipe, but it's always advised. Before I flash I do a nandroid backup and wipe and recovery specific app data with nandroid manager.
Have a look at the dev section, there is a rooted stock lollipop room there. lollipop is stable and awesome.

Is it worth waiting for a Lollipop 5.1 ROM or would this ROM update to 5.1 without needing to be flashed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-d6503-23-1-0-690-bal-rooted-t3057150/ (I presume this is the ROM you were talking about?)

So seeing as I have CWM recovery on there. Does this mean I can just use flashtool to put the lollipop ROM onto CWM Recovery and then do 'install from zip' and all should be good?
What would happen if I flashed without wiping the data? I'm more inclined to wipe too, but I wondered if it's possible to do it without wiping.

Yea that's what I was referring to. Once 5.1 comes out you'll need to do the same thing to keep root so it's up to you if you do it once or twice.

No. No flashtool needed just get the zip into the phone (either download it on the phone or use a usb cable to copy it over) then go to install zip.

What would happen depends on what you've done:
Best case nothing happens
Medium case apps misbehave
Worst case bootloop
It is possible and give it a go. Make sure you do a backup first and copy the backup to your computer just in case. If bad things happen, recovery the backup and try again another way.

Okay perfect, thanks for that. One last question though, in that thread with the Lollipop ROM someone mentioned that you could lose your recovery if you install it (I guess because of a bug or something). Will this affect me if I want to install 5.1 later on?
Not really. You'll just need to get back to a ROM with recovery for locked bootloader or wait until they get recovery working on locked bootloader on 5.0

Okay, so my bootloader has been unlocked. Does that mean I won't be affected at all?

Is that first sentence a statement or a question?
Bootloader unlocked means freedom. Life is a lot easier, just flash a kernel with recovery and upgrade

Yes my bootloader is unlocked, I used the Sony method. I didn't think I could flash a rooted ROM without it to be honest.
Hmm, I think I'm confusing recovery with Bootloader though here. I thought Recovery was part of the bootloader unlocking process and was separate from the ROM. Kind of like a small management interface to flash new ROMs and manage the device from the boot partition.
Does anyone have an answer to the above? I'm just trying to make sense of the process here.
What do you want to know? What the bootloader is?

I'd really like to know what 'recovery' is exactly and how it differs from either a ROM or a bootloader. I understand the Xperia Z2 stock rooted Lollipop ROM has no recovery, so I want to know what exactly that means and what the implications are in the event I choose to upgrade to 5.1 in the future.
