HI friends,
I like Stock ICS rom for S2 but I was wondering if there is any possible way to remove/uninstall system apps like Social Hub, Reader Hub, IM and few more useless stuffs?
And if there is any possible way then What are the apps safe to be removed from system?
Thanks

if u go thro that Spread sheet link above u can see which all apps are safe to remove, then u can go ahead and delete them directly from system>app folder usin any filemanager
As sun60 said.
Also you can try titanium backup app. There find the system app and tap on it and select uninstall. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup

I don't think you should be messing with gapps... others like the file manager, launcher pro (free) titanium backup (free) etc (if you have alternatives or the paid versions, or i would suggest you leave them as is, as they are very useful apps )can be removed safely...
I have removed
-Car home
-Launcher pro
-Titanium Backup
-File manager (using ghost commander)
other apps i've left them
Do a backup with xrec with the default settings and try removing various apps and test for yourself, if anything goes wrong you can always recover the backed up version

I just think he wants to do a full install and remove the unused apps... maybe he uses market and nothing else (navigation, street view, places etc) so he wants to know if the phone will be stable after removing those apps... so let's stick to advising him on what to remove...

hello
i want to create my own rom for the xperia x10
what programs do i need for that?
and can i modify an existing rom? want to understand how making roms works first, so my question is if i download a custom rom, can i modify it for my personal purposes? for exampe by removing some apps...
thanks for ur help
Taking out apps is easy.. use titanium backup. Ifyou want to mix them use a kitchen. If you want to build one use linux and download google source and edit.

I've just got a Samsung Galaxy S II and am very excited! It's got Navigon pre-installed. I'm coming from a Samsung Nexus S which I installed various custom ROMs on and would like to install custom ROMs on my new Galaxy S II. Is it possible to install a custom ROM and somehow not lose the pre-installed apps like Navigon?
Back the apk's up with titanium backup / root explorer, good luck.

Titanium will backup system apps as well as ones you've installed yourself. You don't have to worry about it.

Some rom will be no-wiped option. So, you can flash the rom and everything will be there.
But for me, clean install might be better.
Good luck on choosing rom

I take it you're on a deodexed ROM. In that case, check if you have any .odex files in system/apps. If yes, delete them. That should do the trick

im on CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly-i9300 and i looked in system/app and found no "odex" files only "apk"s and i have plenty of storage left so thats not the problem, i restored to LiquidSmooth rom and the problem has gone but the issue with LiquidSmooth is the bloutooth crashes all the time so i want to be CyanogenMod if u some one could come up with a solution for this
if your device is rooted, install lucky patcher... it will automatically remove .odex files and you will be able to install that particular app
I want to make my system free of meanless stuff. Can anybody help ?
Delete the useless apps to you from system, everything else is in need.
May be charging animation and bootanimation is removable, but it won't save any space.

Well the unwanted apps are called bloatware like Support App and Android Stock Browser. If you want to remove all those apps which came installed in the phone when you bought it and cannot be deleted, you will have to root your phone and then install ES File Explorer or any other app which can uninstall them. Then you would be able to uninstall even those wallpapers which came loaded and even the phone and messaging app.
Use search button for your phone and you will find helpful threads...

I've unlocked bootloader and rooted xperia, but I want any member to give me an answer to make the progress easier. Accually, I don't know all the functions of those apps.

Well I would recommend you to go for 'MoonBreakers Rom' if you are with Xperia P JB! Coz we have already removed all useless bloatware and made this Rom!
