cheers sony, your download music info ruined my music collection - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Just a word of warning to anyone who is tempted to use the feature, if you have a lot of random tracks seriously don't!
So I have a range of different music mostly house stuff with sort of mixes and stuff from unknown artists and some odd edits, I lacked album art on a lot of the songs so thought I'd try the feature.
After its completed it has now changed all my tracks to completely random names, as well as random album art
Some examples, it changed an Afrojack's can't stop me now to Chelonis R Jones. And who is Sarah Geronimo and why is she now taking credit for Avicii's superlove?!
Though the probably most hilarious one was it changed a deadmau5 EP to 'Wheels on the bus'
So yeah its making it quite hard to find the actual music I want to listen to haha I need to completely delete and reinstall my 10GB music collection

Do ypou really need 10 gb of music?

You should know thats what can happen with the album art fetchers when your music has the wrong info, unlucky bro

beets

@XperianPro Uhhh yeah...I go travelling a lot and I love choice, I don't really see how 10GB is a lot, most people I know have much more on their iPods. Suppose also original house music tracks can last up to 6 minutes where individual sizes can be 15mb per song.
It's not the point anyway, I can choose you have 30GB of music if I want, the fact that I now have to spend an age recopying all the songs (assuming I still have them all on my computer)
@MadManMark, yeah but I'm assuming it also listens to the track like trackID? and then decides from that, I obviously knew it would change stuff but I didn't think it would be so rapid and to make so many tracks messed up
@K900 great contribution, cheers

Nah doesnt do any listening i dont think, just looks at track info, so things like track name, artist etc.

There is an option not to replace existing information.

to answer your question, sarah geronimo is a singer here in Philippines
(i know you dont need answer)

Yeah true, but then surely it wouldn't change anything?
MadManMark oh I see, but it still doesn't make sense I bought the deadmau5 Full Circle EP with these tracks legally
Turning Point, Mr. G, 1981, 1891, Cyclic Redundancy, Templar and Subvert
They were all written out correctly with all the artist album and track info so why did the program see a need to change the EP title, to the wheels on the bus?!!
It makes no sense

try an app that uses acoustic fingerprinting, it analyses the soundwave of the track and matches it, a bit like TrackID does

Because some music didn't have any info on it, so I assumed it would change those ones and leave the other ones alone; instead it retagged literally all of them.
And that's not an option, I've got too many apps and stuff on it to format it all

Google Music Beta

Anyone here a part of it? I'm actually loving it right now. The fact that I don't really need to worry about sdcard space saves me. I can just stream my music to my phone since I always have an excellent wifi/4g signal. It can automatically copy your itunes/windows media/etc.. playlists and settings and this is a plus. What do you guys think?
I also love the service, but the app itself could use some work. it is a bit wonky.
Biggest pain was getting my 50gb music collection uploaded. Glaring issue is that I need to organize my music better.
Yeah I have It, but I think the app needs an overhaul.

I have been on Google Music Beta for about 2 months. The only problem is that it would not sync my iTunes acct. I contacted Google and they asked me to send the crash log (don't know why I didn't just send that with the initial email) but they have not yet gotten back to me. I have just about given up on Google Support as I have sent them 4 emails in the last month. It would be perfect if I could get this to work on the E3D.
I had the same issue but when I cleared data it began to work flawlessly.

I've been using it as well, but noticed that the Music Manager can be quite finicky with the uploads. There's definitely been many songs that haven't uploaded for no apparent reason.
also, i wish we could upload lossless (flac) and not have it converted to mp3.
other than that, i've been pretty happy with it.

Also the album art is a joke. I now have Pitbull as the default album art for everything.

No it doesn't let you send out invites....you just gotta wait to get yours...it took me like two months and I know some people who got it in two weeks ...and they requested their invite much later than me.....
I like Google music but the Android app could use some work...better app optimization when scrolling through tracks, albums or artists.....right now it just lags when you scroll.....Also for some reason the tracks in some of my albums do not get sorted by lowest track number to highest .....
Other than that its great.
it's nice and it's growing on me, but here are my quirks
You aren't able to download your music. As far as I know this can only be done on your phone. It's nice that it's in the 'cloud'; however, I still need to maintain a copy on my computer if I need to transfer it to some other device or media that doesn't have the ability to connect to GMusic.
Better online sound quality. Over the phone it seems to sound much better than through a web browser on my pc.

One thing I noticed is that even if I have "Sync music" unchecked in my Accounts & Sync settings, the Google Music service will sometimes still start itself up without me ever opening the app. Happens about half the time I do a reboot.
I'm using the service as well and I really like it. On my original evo I had a issue with it constantly disconnecting from my gmail account. Now with the 3D I haven't seen that problem yet

Sup guys, quick question, does anyone have Google music up and running completely on R.G. 2.1 or Virtuous Unity Sense ? I have the music manager set up on my laptop, I downloaded the app from the market, but when I go to Menu/settings/Sync, there is no option to sync music or is this an option at all ? I hope that I'm posting this in the right forum, thanks in advance for your help....
Thing I hate is sometimes for no reason the music manager will give me errors for music i'm trying to upload. Then a few days later I look at it when im about to upload something else and all of the errors that were there are gone and the songs have actually downloaded. That and the fact that sometimes it duplicates music.

Music player rename tracks

I'm not sure if others have had this problem but I'll explain anyway.
Last week, I spent hours and hours renaming all of my incorrectly named songs and setting the artist and album info. I done this for about 600 songs, at the time. I went onto the music player the next day to find that all the changes I'd made, were gone. So it wasn't showing album/artist info and some songs were back to being named wrong.
I'm just wondering if this is a problem within the Xperia S, or whether mine just decided to play up on me.
I don't really want to try it again until I know for sure (because of hours wasted) Any help would be great

OP did you just change the file names?
The player is reading the ID3 data, so unless all of it right you wont get the correct info on screen. This means changing artist, album artist etc etc. I recommend "Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor" www.mp3tag.de/en/. Its donateware and performs perfectly in both directions.
I suggest you use beets (beets.radbox.org). It is a command-line based automatic tagger / library organizer that uses MusicBrainz to automagically (!) identify your music. So you just go into a folder with 1.mp3, 2.mp3 etc. and run beet import .
Have you used the SensMe functionality? If you do, that's one of the culprit. It takes your music info and tries to match it with Sony's database. It then renames all the music in the library. The only way to put it back the way it was is to retransfer all the files.

As I am still on other phone yet, I can't say for sure if it will work. Try Mp3 Editor or something like that from GPlay. Do it with a few songs, restart the phone and listen to all of them. If none of them have problems, keep doing it with the rest of the songs. I know it will be a hard job, but it's the only solution I can think from the phone.

The pro version of titanium backup will allow you to remove the protected system apps....apollo included. And you can also download the CM rom to PC, and use winrar to strip out the apps prior to flashing, as winrar will keep the signing verification intact, allowing the flash to occur without them.
I've used this technique for a long time also, and it works very well. I hate bloat, and have reduced CM7 and CM9 roms down to roughly 100 megs before...
Lets just say, they fly....LOL
and I've used poweramp for months now, but there are many others to choose from. you'll just have to test various apps, and settle on your favorite....g
Best bet is to use es file explorer or whatever and drop it from there...make playlists if you just don't wanna hear it at that point and time...that's what I do

I had problems with Apollo since day 1. Since I had a lot of music I didn't want to have to design custom playlists just to remove a few songs.
Things got MUCH worse when apollo somehow scanned and auto added all the CM sounds and ringtones into the mix. It also added a new Euro internet radio channel so random really means random! That was the last straw with no way to remove those from the library I had to move. I am going to try out N7 or PowerAmp.
Pretty big flaw Apollo!
Jet Audio is the best player out now. IMHO...

[APP] GMusicFS

***NOTE: I take absolutely no credit for developing this app or supporting it. Flash at your own risk.
That being taken care of, most of you on this board know how much I love music and when I saw this posted on xda's news, I had to grab it and share it ASAP. Summed up, we have a storage issue without and external sdcard. This app allows all your music stored on Google Music to be mounted on a virtual hard drive on your sdcard. This allows a number of popular players to play all your music stored on the cloud as if its on your internal memory. I now have my N7 library full of over 5000 songs with Beats, DSPManager v2, and N7's EQ working in perfect harmony!!!
Just use the help tab within the app to get the settings right for whatever player you're going to be using. I'd donate to this guy right now if I could.

I'm not sure if it will work with stock music app. If there's a setting in there to tell it where to look for music and to force a refresh of the library, it might. I am sure that it does stream from Google Play, though. It just sets up a database the local player can read on a virtual hard drive. The music still comes from the cloud (Google Play), so you'll use up your 2gigs quickly streaming.
This made me think of the potential of this app. Once he gets the bugs squashed, I bet he can make it so you create say a "Music" folder on your Dropbox, Box, GDrive account and upload your music in there. He can make it read those files and create a database as well. This app has HUGE potential.

Speaking of HTC devices, do not use GMusicFS with HTC device until I have found a fix for the slow scan issue.
This issue can make your Google Music daily quota go over limit, which will makes streaming impossible from any client until the quota is resetted (in less than 24h since it is a daily quota).
I have added this warning in the first post of this topic.

Yes, I am the unlucky one that brought that to his attention. My device hit its limit in less than 2 hours. so i only have pandora for any kind of streaming music for now.
after providing logs and testing later revisions of his app, he now has what he needs and is working on a way to reliably identify any device, specific to htc to where his new rule can be implemented

I have no idea what the scan is for and it was taking forever, so I reboot at like 2%. It hasn't tried to sync since (or I just haven't checked recently if it has) and I haven't had an issue.

while mine scanned, it added the files to the music player. id check as it was at 5% and have x number of tracks ...check again when it was at 50% and have 10 times as many tracks.
just letting yall know. for us with HTC devices, he has fixed the issues of the slow scanning. we did some more testing and finally got me working with a test build. i think he is going to be updating the OP with this soon
scanned all 1300+ songs in 2 minutes 14 seconds (where it took over 2 hours yesterday) this was 'htc device specific' i did see others who had slow scanning issues as well.
Thanks for the update. I'm really looking forward to using this app.

0.9.3 beta is up, which addresses the HTC issue, thanks to JWhetstone02's help
I did get a full scan in this time (thanks J.) However, when I initiated a new music scan in N7 player, it FC'd. I'll mess with it later.
After the force crash I rebooted and music library was completely empty. I forced a scan for music within N7 and everything came back. All is good now.

[Q] Pandora navigation won't go away

Hi guys,
I listened to pandora last night, I've closed and reopened pandora a dozen times trying to get the Pandora navigation card off my LG G watch but it won't leave and I can't dismiss it. Any ideas?

This has already been asked here. Use the search next time I don't think anyone has a solution for this yet though.

Yeah I saw it in that thread too but I felt like that thread was more of a catalogue of problems, not solutions.

I want to resurrect this thread. I'm the one who posted the issue in the thread above, but I agree this deserves its own thread.
I've emailed back and forth to Pandora support, and they wash their hands of it, and told me to talk to LG. I'm of the opinion that if there were no native Wear support for Pandora, how does it work in the first place? It displays album art and allows you to pause, play and skip. The Pandora support monkey says they don't support Wear, period.
Sorry for any confusion, but as I mentioned before, we do not support Wear functionality. The card may be appearing due to the way LG identifies music playing on your phone. Since we have not yet created an implementation for Android Wear, there isn't anything we can change to fix this.
Again, I'd recommend reaching out to LG about this issue to see if there is anything they can do about the music card on their end.
Let me know how that conversation goes.

My BS detector is in the red on this one. Anyone have any insight one way or another?

Wear simply pulls the image, text, and buttons from a notification. In the case of media playback, it pulls that functionality from the same place your lockscreen does to display the art and pause/next functionality. Music apps don't need to do anything to work with Wear. I feel like what they're saying is true... Because I've encountered this bug on a few other apps. I think it's a bug in the Wear software itself (or just bad code on the developer's part). I figured it might have something to do with media apps not releasing themselves from the system correctly so Wear doesn't realize the app has stopped and no longer wants to display track info.
You can change watch face or open Amazon prime music and Swype off to get rid of it. prime works as it should.

While it may be a case of evolving functionality, I think it's chickenshark of Pandora to simply dish it off on LG or Google. I would hope that they'd take some ownership in the matter, and contact LG themselves to see what might be done, or offer some workaround. They just told me to go pound sand.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried changing the watch face, but that didn't work.

Oh, that definitely sounds like Pandora to me. They're incredibly lazy. Look how many years it's taken them just to get playback controls in the ongoing notification.
Found a workaround in the other thread on this topic. If you press Pause on the Wear card, you can then swipe right to dismiss it.

Works for some people, hasn't worked for me.
EDIT: Correction. This now works for me. Weird.
Same with Sticher or TuneIn for me...
I have had this happen for Sticher and TuneIn as well. I placed the watch in "airplane mode" and the notification on the watch immediately went away. Turned off "airplane mode" on the watch and everything was normal.
