I have a nandroid backup of my phone. I also have a tablet. Is it possible to advanced restore the data from my phone onto my tablet?
Story is : Phone broke with sim card.... don't know why
Sent it off for repairs....
Forgetting I have two step verification for my Google account
Installed new ROM on tablet with full wipe andwithout nandroiding
I need to access my account without my phone and I don't have backup codes. So the idea was: to restore the google account information from the nandroid of the phone to the tablet.
Does anyone know if this will work?
Are there any other ways of getting my account to work?
Thanks for your help
Titanium Backup has an option to extract apps/data from a nandroid backup.

I had a look in TB and it doesn't seem to have the option to restore accounts from a nandroid backup.

Thanks that's a good idea, but I didn't have that installed
So im assuming you did the codes via sms? On the phone that youre using right now. Or at least a phone with your sim card installed so it gets the same phone # try to login by getting the text

The sim card also broke so i cant receive any texts: I need to order another one ( I'm on pay as you go) and change the number. But I was wondering if there was another way of accessing my account while waiting for the new sim.
I feel your pain bro. Im trying to think of ways but cant. Have you checked any computers you might have left logged in. That way you can print some codes from google.com/accounts

TB has a feature to put a zip onto the SD card. So you can flash it from recovery to access TB without having access to Google Play (as you don't have authenticate).
Another option is to use one of the one time passwords which you must generate when you activate 2 step verification.
Thanks for everyone trying to help I managed to get a new sim card today so I can access my account now. I have learned a valuable lesson
Go print the backup codes

Call me an idiot...but I thought Google sync was obsolete with android, considering most of the devices are powered by Google! ....am I wrong....be nice !!
I will reiterate - Titanium Backup works great for restoring, in my case programs with data like Timeriffic.

You are wrong. Google sync is an android feature. It's one of the benefits to logging in with your gmail account when you setup a new ROM.

I've never been able to get Titanium Backup to backup and restore contacts...
You could just export your contacts to your SD card then import them back after you flash a new ROM. While in people, hit menu then export.
How do you remove apps from your account name so they dont install when you load a new rom?

i haven't had much issue with this personally so i'm not 100% sure.
my best guess would be, perhaps you're able to manage your market account on their web site and remove the applications? http://market.android.com and login with the account linked on your device.
i know once you purchase an application, there never seems to be a remove option. although, if the application was free, removing it once, should keep it removed from your account.
i'm sure anybody with more experience will post up. hope that helps!
choose not to backup your apps with google when running the setup wizard
Ahh duuhh thanks guys

Hi. I'm coming from a stock samsung 2.3.3 rom, I'm all ready to root it and give it a new firmware but will I lose my contacts which are integrated with facebook and all? I backed up a copy of it onto the sd card, but I'm not sure if it keeps the integration.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
provided you have synced with your gmail account, you should keep your contacts. you just log in once you boot up after flashing and your contacts will be refreshed
How do I know if I synced it to my gmail account? Does the backup to sd card function keep the integration with facebook?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
you could also move them to sd card and if they,re on sd csrd, u won't lose them and you would, they still would be in your nandroid backup and you could take them from there with appextracktor

Before you do anything BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. Use titanium to backup your apps. To find out if your gmail is syncing your contacts go to settings - accounts and sync. You should clearly see if your gmail is syncing your contacts. When you flash a new rom it will ask you to enter your gmail. This will then sync all your contacts to your phone. When you get clockworkmod installed backup a full image of your phone so you wont lose anything. Goodluck!
Thanks for the help guys! Okay gonna see if its syncing but I'm more worried about the facebook integration because I don't want to repeat the tedious process of merging my contacts painstakingly again!

Ohh another question, erm I can see that my google account is under the list of things syncing, is there somewhere I can check the contacts whether they are saved correctly or not? Thanks guys!

Hello guys. I'm currently using a stock rooted 4.2 Galaxy S4. I used to own a china made android phone before this and the same issue happened as well so I'm pretty sure it's not due to the ROM.
My emails from gmail suddenly stopped syncing after a couple of weeks after adding my Google account. This has happened 4 times already and after Googling the problem I couldn't find any solutions. Neither restarting my phone nor clearing the Gmail app data from Application Manager helped. In the account manager it says that everything but email was able to sync successfully (according to the update date). The only solution I have found so far is to completely remove my Google account from the phone and add it again.
I have 2 step verification on my Google account and at first I thought that was the issue; that my authentication token had expired, so I generated an application specific password and used it, however the problem still came back. Really hope someone can help me as it's really frustrating to have to remove and add my account every couple of weeks. Thank you.
Hope someone can help me out..

Factory reset is what comes to mind for me. Just remember to back up your data first. Good luck

I just came here from my gs4 today but I'm having issues trying to restore my sms from the app sms back up. It gave me my call log but with no contacts attached the the calls but it didn't give me a single text message. I've tried it 3 times...it just tells me "13000 duplicates". I just googled it and I guess the back up is placed on my sdcard on my other phone. I just dropped it in and I'm currently waiting to see if this restore will work. Has anyone else done this yet?

if there is still a problem, go to your local AT&T store... if they have a celibrate machine.. .which 90% of them do, they can transfer sms from one phone to another no problem
I found an option within the phones settings that transfers data from your previous phone to the HTC one. You need to install HTC transfer from the playstore on the old device. Music, photos and bookmarks transfered fine but the texts still didnt. Oh well...at least I got the important stuff. Nice feature BTW
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would think each device has a certain file [email protected] back up files for sms and they are different between the two your trying transfer from...thats prolly the issue....as suggested the store usually can transfer them without an issue
if you are rooted, Try app ops on the play store (by Lars something). Enable it and go to its menu and find your backup app. Then enable write permission
