[Q] Have flashed Polish Jelly Bean ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got tired of waiting for the UK to get Jelly Bean so I used Odin to flash the Polish unbranded Jelly Bean ROM to my Galaxy S3, and it's working fine. My only question is about the CSC. My CSC now shows as I9300OXFDLI1. This is presumably not a UK CSC. Will this affect my device in any way for future updates or any other way? The only possible thing I can think of is if I needed to bring it back to the Carphone Warehouse they may check the CSC and refuse me warranty service (although my custom binary count is 0). I have the Galaxy CSC changer but I can't remember what my original CSC was (unbranded UK Carphone Warehouse Galaxy S3) and there doesn't seem to be an appropriate one to change it to on the list.
Like I say, I can't think of a reason to need to change it at the moment, but it would be nice to know what it means for my phone, and if anyone incidentally knows the original CSC for my phone that would be brilliant.
Thanks very much for replying!

Hi there
You can always look on sammobile.com. It will be something like: I9300OXAALE8 I guess. From there you can download your original ROM and flash it to your phone if you need to return it too.

[Q] Flashing Australian S3

Hey guys!
So I've had my S3 for a few weeks now and i bought it online from Kogan and assumed that the CSC would be XSA because i chose Australia for the firmware update thing when i first booted my phone up.
However Kies shows my phone as being ORS which is the CSC for Slovakia.
I decided that I'm going to flash my phone to another CSC but I'm stuck on whether to change it to XSA (Australian) or to flash an European stock ROM. This is because Australia is horribly slow at receiving updates and most countries in Europe are the first to get them.
So since I have never flashed my S3 before, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain how and where to download the appropriate files from. Basically I want to be able to get updates quickly without having problems here in Australia. Any comment is welcome.
Thanks!

If you want JB now you need to flash the Polish ROM, either ICS and update or just flash one of the ODIN images. Or you can use a custom ROM based on that official release. Start with the sticky threads, then have a look in the development forum.

[Q] Stock ROM forSGS III of Bouygues Telecom France

Need Stock ROM forSGS III of Bouygues Telecom France
Few months ago I bought an SGS III GT-i9300 with CSC of CHU running stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM (bouygues telecom). The phone was originally bought in France, and later on when I came back to my home country ie Pakistan, I got it unlocked so it could work on local carriers. The long of the short of the story is, last sunday I decided to update my SGS III to the leaked polish JB ROM I9300XXDLIB_I9300OXFDLI1_I9300XXDLIB_XEO. This resulted in loss of connectivity with my GSM network. Sadly, I made the cardinal mistake of not backing up the original ROM, in case I needed to go back. So now I am kind of stuck with a phone which at best is just like a small tablet ....
Can anyone please help me locate Stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM for the above CSC region? As so far I haven't been able to do that despite hours and hours of trying.
Also, can I install Stock ICS ROM for CSC PAK/WDC on it? If so, how can it be unlocked & made to work with it?
I hope that someone can help me in resolving this issue. Thank you.

Thanks alot JJE. Didn't knew about this checkfus tool, but it sure is one very handy util. I will let you know of the progress asap.
Regards.
Okay, I used CheckFus to locate the ROM, downloaded it, wiped/reset S3 before going ahead and installing the ROM. But unfortunately it didn't help. By the way CheckFus in Product Code field says 'Not Active'.
I was wondering whether I should get unlock code, will it help solve the issue?
In continuation of my previous post, here is an image from Galaxy S3 Sim Unlock.

That "Not Active" against the product code is probably the cause. Any help will be hugely appreciated. regards

CSC Doubt

Hi,
Well so here is my situation, according to Sammobile my country (Chile) is getting Jelly bean now:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/12/89289021.jpg/
The problem is that my phone is unbranded and none of those 2 CSC is my CSC. MY CSC is I9300OJVBLH1 and I don't know if the unbranded version of the phone will even get the update here or not, and I'm honestly sick of waiting.
There are countries with my CSC that have already gotten JB, but I have never used Odin or any kind of program to flash my phones (I had a Galaxy S2 before)
So my quesiton for you guys, that know way more than I do about this: Should i keep waiting for JB to get it through KIES? (I've checked on Kies and OTA and it says that my firmware is up to date) or should I just flash my phone? In case I should flash it... what Firmware should I get, the one with my CSC from another country or the one for my own country but with a different CSC?
If updating manually through Odin is your recommendation, could you please walk me through it? Will this increase my flash count?
Thank you very much for all your help!!!
Please guys, help!

[Q] Does this matter returning to stock?

Hey, I have been trying to return to stock, I've downloaded ODIN, but when came the time to pick a stock rom, I saw that there were quite a few stock roms for my phone (GT-19300 international) . I live in France, there are 4 operators: Orange (where I bought my phone and where I have my contract), Bouygues, SFR and NRJ, on Sammobile I saw there was a stock rom for NRJ, and I also found stock roms for the other operators (not on sammobile though, on tha site there was only the NRJ one), then came the question, do I need an orange stock rom, or the regular international one, does it matter? If it's any help, there isn't the orange logo on my phone, and I don't recall having orange apps on my phone when I bought it, but have a vague memory of me downloading a couple, although maybe anyone with a contract there can download them, I qish I could provide more information but nothing comes to mind :/ I'll try to answer all questions as best I can, thanks for answering quickly.
P.S. I'm using this guide to unroot, if you can think of a better one or if there's a problem with this one, I'd appreciate all suggestions, thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27407556
AnyI9300 rom on any I9300 phone .
Stock is just Samsung firmware usually by country basis .
Vendor roms are usually branded and may have addons from the network . Vendor roms will have the correct modem and CSC .

[Q] Updating i9100 from Gingerbread 2.3.5

I'm entirely new to this so try to bear with me
I recently bought a Galaxy SII from a one day deals store and it arrived running Gingerbread 2.3.5. I want to update to the latest version available for the SII however the OTA update won't connect to the server and Kies (after at least two hours trying to get it to recognise my device) has told me that my current firmware can't be updated. Unless someone knows an obvious fix for Kies I guess I'm stuck with having to flash the new firmware using Odin. I'm using a guide on CNET (unfortunately I can't post links yet) that goes through installing ICS but replacing ICS with Jelly Bean.
The biggest problem is which firmware to get. My CSC code is OXA (Open Europe). Do I have to find firmware that matches that or can I just chose any one that I please then follow the guide that I'm using? I've been looking on SamMobile and there is a lot of different regions to chose from but none of them have the OXA CSC code and I don't know what to do. Also, is there anything I should look out for? I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance for your help. I'm sure it gets tiresome helping people like me.

There you go OXA It seems open Europe ended at 2.3.5 .. No wonder you can't update.. Anyway Poland's firmware should work just fine. Or just search the firmware of your own region. Do remember to do a factory reset after flashing JellyBean!
Alternately I recommend this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 Its the latest firmware Samsung has to offer.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I think I understand now. The CSC is really only relevant to your current version. If I flash Jelly Bean from another region the CSC will just change to that region and still work as normal? Does it have any effect whatsoever on the function of the phone?

Yes CSC is bundled with the firmware. Dunno why but every time I flash a firmware it does not come with CSC and I must flash it manually.. Now that's a whole other story. If you plan on flashing a firmware not related to you region e.g you flash a European firmware while you stay in Asia then the CSC is quite pointless as kies won't let you update through it anyway. That said you must have the correct CSC/Firmware/Modem and region to recieve official updates through Kies. If not updating via Odin is good as well .

Well I live in New Zealand and the phone that I have has the European CSC code. The site that I got it from is called 1-day who claim to find the best prices from around the world in order to give ridiculously low prices. I assume that means that my phone came all the way over from Europe. Based on what you say then, I assume then that the CSC wouldn't matter in my case anyway as even stock, my CSC is in the wrong region?

Its OK at most bring it down to Samsung service centre and ask them to update your phone to the latest they have. They should be more then happy to help.

Awesome, thanks for your help. I'm fine with just flashing it with Odin. I was planning to root it anyway. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can before I try.
